Chapter 340: Chapter 340: The Calm Before the Storm
It’s a bright and sunny morning.
Speckles of sunlight trickle through the window and dance on the curtain.
“Mmm…”
Qin Youxuan, out of habit, stretches her body and grimaces in pain immediately. She glances at the person next to her who’s responsible for her discomfort.
“Awake?”
Dan Hanjie’s hoarse voice echoes with a layer of satisfaction. His large hand caresses Qin Youxuan’s furrowed face. He smirks mischievously, “Looking at me like this, haven’t I not fed you well, hmm?”
The last word is powerfully suggestive.
“…”
Qin Youxuan turns away, pretending not to have seen anything.
About to get up, she falls back to bed due to dizziness. She holds her temples, her head throbbing as if it is about to explode.
“I have a headache…”
“When you were drinking from the bottle yesterday, you should have considered the consequences.” Dan Hanjie sits up, lazily crossing his arms, not offering any help. He observes her as she rolls around in bed, holding her head.
Her head bumps into the bedside table, prompting her to gasp in pain.
Qin Youxuan glares at him resentfully.
“I’ve asked the housekeeper to prepare a soup for your hangover, but it seems you don’t want to drink it.” Dan Hanjie gets out of bed and looks at her.
“I’ll drink it!”
Qin Youxuan quickly climbs out of bed, flashing him a smile, and leans against him, “I knew you were the best to me.”
Smiling, trying hard to please, as ingratiating as she could be.
Just as long as she doesn’t provoke the Big Devil.
“Well done.” Dan Hanjie pulls her into his arms, his gaze lingers on her sweet demeanor. Looking at her sleepy face, he pinches her cheek.
“Ouch!” Qin Youxuan dodges his hand, and before Dan Hanjie could get angry, she quickly turns and enters the bathroom.
She closes the door.
“I’ll brush my teeth and wash my face first, if you’re hungry, don’t wait for me.”
Qin Youxuan stands in front of the washbasin. After brushing her teeth, she scoops some water onto her face and sighs softly.
She raises her head to look at herself in the mirror.
Her cheek still bears the red mark from his pinch, refusing to fade.
Flushed and rosy on her fair complexion.
Her flattering smile reveals pearly white teeth. In the blink of an eye, she looks like a lovestruck woman…
She has truly fallen deep into this.
Even she doesn’t know when it all began.
Fighting off the urge to overthink, Qin Youxuan dries her face and steps out.
Upon entering the room, she sees Dan Hanjie still standing by the sofa. She pauses for a moment.
His towering figure radiates coldness and solitude. He stands alone, as if the whole world is his backdrop, but none could approach him.
Qin Youxuan’s heart clenches.
“Are you waiting for me?” Qin Youxuan approaches and tries to grab his arm.
“Mmm.”
Dan Hanjie hears the footsteps behind him. His aura of harshness disappears in a heartbeat. By the time Qin Youxuan is near, he turns around.
His charming face shows no emotion, yet his gaze lands on a little box on the table.
“…”
Before Qin Youxuan could ask, she freezes in place.
Her grip on his sleeve tightens.
Her lips anxious.
It’s contraceptive pills…
“If you want to take it, take it in front of me. Without my permission, such a thing will never appear in the Yujing Villa again.” Dan Hanjie’s indifferent gaze is eerily calm.
Only Qin Youxuan knows he is angry.
“…”
Qin Youxuan stands there, at a loss for what to do. She glances at the pill on the table, then at the steaming cup of hot water beside it.
She hesitates for a moment before reaching out to pick up the box of pills.
Suddenly, she feels a chill run down her spine and instinctively glances at Dan Hanjie.
