Chapter 57: Short-lived Fame in Country N
An Wen was woken up from her slumber early in the morning on the first day of the Spring Festival. Grandpa Chu, Father Chu, and Mother Chu each gave her a thick red envelope respectively[1](#ch$57footnote$2).
The Chu family had only one son for three generations in a row. Each time their guests came to visit with a daughter, Father Chu and Mother Chu would call Chu Qichen over to chat for a long time.
An Wen took some selfies on the couch and posted them on Weibo. Then, she started playing online games with Xia Wei and the others.
Chu Qichen was cool toward most of the guests but he was particularly fond of a lady named Shu Kerou. According to Mother Chu, Shu Kerou and Chu Qichen were really close childhood playmates.
Since she was one of the heirs of the Shushi Group, Shu Kerou had begun managing parts of the family businesses. A strong, beautiful, and intellectual woman who graduated from a prestigious university was worthy of Chu Qichen.
The families were well-matched in terms of social status; this talented man and the beautiful woman were indeed an appropriate match!
Chu Qichen and Shu Kerou walked toward An Wen. “This is Sister Shu who chose the villa that you’re living in,” he said to the girl.
“Hello, Sister Shu,” she greeted obediently.
“You’re as beautiful as an angel, just like how they described you on the internet,” said Shu Kerou in a gentle voice.
“Sister Shu, you’re really pretty too, a beautiful match to Mister Chu,” replied An Wen sweetly.
The smile on Shu Kerou’s face grew even wider and she gave An Wen a red envelope too.
An Wen received every red envelope that came her way!
Looking at An Wen behaving so sweet and demurely, Chu Qichen could not help but thought to himself, ‘You sly little fox.’
An Wen stayed with the Chus until the sixth day of Spring Festival before returning to work. The official Weibo account of “Calming the Cosmos” shared some film clips to promote the show. Song Jia did not allow An Wen the privilege to stay idle, hence she signed her up to another variety show.
Grandpa Chu and An Wen had fostered a good relationship during the time spent together in the Spring Festival. He already regarded her as his granddaughter. He tried really hard to persuade her to stay as soon as he was told of An Wen’s intention to return to the villa. When that fell through, he instructed his staff to deliver numerous goods and gifts over to the villa for her.
Today, [N Net An Wen] showed up on trending searches. Shortly after, the term ranked first on trending searches due to the increased searches from netizens.
Turned out, “My Desired Prince” was really well-received in Country N. The latest episode updated in the N language version had greatly astonished people of Country N.
[I still can’t believe that her impeccable looks are all-natural]
[She’s too attractive. Her parents are fortunate to witness her growth]
[Is she an actor? I’m going to watch the dramas she’s been in]
[She’s no doubt an immortal]
[As expected, there are lots of pretty women in China]
[Has she really not undergone any cosmetic surgery?]
…
These comments were captured and posted on Weibo. Naturally, it became a new topic of discussion amongst netizens.
[It’s because there are too many fake beauties in Country N that they think every pretty girl has gone through cosmetic surgery]
[An Wen’s been a beauty since young. It’s not possible to attain this level of natural good looks through cosmetic surgery]
[God is the greatest artist of all time, and An Wen’s been blessed by God]
…
In short, An Wen went viral in Country N because of her beautiful appearance.
When she was told that a cosmetic company from Country N invited her to be their ambassador, An Wen let out a helpless sigh.
“An Wen, why do you look disappointed?”
An Wen tucked her hair behind her ear slowly with her slender fingers. In a weak voice, she explained, “I have real talents, but the public only recognizes me for my physical appearance. How can I not be troubled by this?”
Jiang Shiyu was at a loss for words. ‘Hold it! You must control yourself! The person in front of you is your boss and no matter how ridiculous she is, you have to restrain yourself.’
The variety show for which Song Jia had signed her up was “Running Without Limits.” They had initially invited Ye Xiaoxing and Xia Wei as guest appearances. However, due to a clashing of schedule for Ye Xiaoxing, the production team turned to An Wen.
“Running Without Limits” was an extremely well-liked variety show in China; they used to only invite big names to be on the show. It would never even have crossed their minds to invite newbies like An Wen. However, she would soon appear on the show, all thanks to her growing popularity from “Calming the Cosmos.”
