Chapter 8: Qing Sha Was a Difficult Role to Play

On Saturday, several people from Di City No. 1 High School’s volunteer association chartered a bus to Di City Film Studios.
Di City Film Academy had launched a survey on the dreams and actual circumstances of actors who played minor roles. The students of Di City No. 1 High School and Di City No. 2 High School went to Di City Film Studios to carry out that survey.
The students were dressed in their normal clothes because they were not required to wear their school uniforms on Saturday. An Wen combed her waist-length hair behind her shoulders and wore a long, white sleeveless dress. Everyone else was envious of her exposed pale and jadelike skin.
When the students of Di City No. 1 High School and Di City No. 2 High School gathered, everyone could not help but look at her.
They were separated into groups and she was grouped with a boy named Zheng Lian, who was from one of the normal classes in Di City No. 1 High School. Both of them took the questionnaires and walked toward the main palace.
Everything was going according to An Wen’s plan. The production crew of Calming the Cosmos was currently viewing potential filming locations in the main palace of Di City Film Studios.
Ye Qiaofeng was part of the production crew for Calming the Cosmos. While they were filming, he pointed at an actress who was playing a side character and yelled, “Are you a pig? Yi Xinxin is supposed to be cute and lively, not brain-damaged. Why are you making those messy and unnecessary gestures? Your gaze needs to express a certain cleverness. Did you practice in the mirror last night like I told you to? Don’t blame me for casting someone else if you continue acting like a hyperactive and insane person!”
Ye Qiaofeng grew angrier as he spoke and flung the script that he was holding before shouting, “All of you, stop! It’s a waste of time filming now. Make sure that you read through the script properly. If you’re still going to behave like this after thirty minutes, you should just get lost!”
When he finished speaking, Ye Qiaofeng stormed out of the palace. He took a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it.
“Why are you smoking again?” Assistant Director Zhang asked when he came over.
“They’re all as dumb as pigs. I’m going to die from anger if I don’t smoke!” Ye Qiaofeng muttered exasperatedly before taking a frenzied puff of his cigarette.
“Our investor called recently to ask about Qing Sha,” Assistant Director Zhang said.
“He should just get lost! He’s planning to give the role of Qing Sha to such an ugly person. He must be dreaming! I’ll gladly show him the front door if he wants to withdraw his investments. Does he think that I can’t get anyone else? Does he think that I need him? Get lost!” Ye Qiaofeng’s eyebrows furrowed as he scoffed angrily.
Several days ago during the open casting, there were a few people who had auditioned for the role of Qing Sha. Unfortunately, they were all ugly. Worse still, some of them were hideous and completely unable to act. However, some of the investors constantly tried to get certain people cast in the drama. The investors had forced the production crew to cast the woman who played Yi Xinxin and she was as dumb as a pig. Meanwhile, though the male lead’s appearance was suitable for the role, his acting skills were merely average. Ye Qiaofeng could only ensure that the female lead met his ideals.
Ye Qiaofeng exhaled a mouthful of smoke. As he looked through the smoke ring, he was filled with regret about accepting such a troublesome task. How could he successfully film a television drama when all the main characters were like this?
In fact, his standards for the role of Qing Sha had dropped numerous times. Initially, Ye Qiaofeng wanted an actress who was both beautiful and talented, but he was now willing to settle for someone who looked the part and was able to speak and move!
However, it was extremely difficult for him to find the perfect candidate for Qing Sha because he was a die-hard fan of the original novel.
Ye Qiaofeng switched positions and leaned the side of his body against the palace door. Suddenly, his gaze landed on a beautiful young woman in a long dress. Her long, straight hair was parted in the middle and it fluttered faintly when blown by the breeze. A piercing look seeped through her gorgeous, almond-shaped eyes. The girl also had a beautiful, sharp nose and a rosy, little, pink mouth that was almost red. When she walked, her long, white dress faintly swayed as the wind blew against it and her fair skin seemed to glow under the sunlight.
An Wen and Zheng Lian were passing the survey questionnaires to the minor actors. The actors were exhausted, but most of them did not reject the pair because they were students.
Ye Qiaofeng stood up and stared at An Wen. His sharp gaze made him look like a starving wolf.
“Zhang Ziteng! Zhang Ziteng… Come here!” Ye Qiaofeng yelled at Assistant Director Zhang and called him over. He pointed at An Wen who was giving out the questionnaires and said, “Go over there and ask her to come here!”
“That…” Assistant Director Zhang hesitated before he carefully said, “That girl is probably a student.”
Ye Qiaofeng knitted his eyebrows and said sternly, “Go now!”
