Chapter 198: Can I Borrow a Man?
“Ah? Did I really sleep for so long?” Jing Yue swallowed the soup in her mouth and looked at Xiao Chen in surprise. Apparently, Jing Yue had no idea that she had been asleep for so long. Xiao Chen looked at Jing Yue’s innocent expression and found that she was not pretending, so he compressed his lips slightly and went deep in thought.
Jing Yue mumbled, “Maybe I didn’t rest well in the tent…” Not even she herself could believe the explanation, let alone Xiao Chen.
Fortunately, Xiao Chen didn’t ask more, but gave Jing Yue an intense gaze, making her scalp tingle.
The Hunting was coming to an end. Both Jing Yue and Xiao Chen didn’t mention what had happened during the Hunting tacitly. After the Hunting, the most important event of Jing Yue’s life finally came true. The restaurant she had worked so hard to renovate was finally going to open. However, there was a very important thing to do before the opening, and that was to cook!
Jing Yue had put a lot of efforts into this matter. Although the dishes prepared by the ancients were delicious, people were all about novelty. But for someone who had just arrived through time and space from the 21st century, she must promote modern cuisine!
But!
Jing Yue had no culinary talent!
Nobody had to remind her of this matter; Jing Yue herself already knew it.
“Xiao Chen…” Jing Yue lay on the bed in Lotus Garden, running fingers through Xiao Cheng’s long dark hair. With a smile she called Xiao Chen’s name. Xiao Chen, who was lying down on the bed reading a book, looked up at the sound of her voice. He replied with a snort and said nothing.
“Actually… Can I borrow someone from you?” Jing Yue asked carefully as she twirled Xiao Chen’s hair with her finger.
“Hmm…OK” Xiao Chen answered faintly, as if he wasn’t even awake.
“I want the chef of our palace to cook in my restaurant,” Jing Yue said with a smile. As soon as he heard her, Xiao Chen’s hand stilled, leaving the page unturned. Xiao Chen put the book away slowly, and gazed at Jing Yue with deep and dark eyes.
Jing Yue pursed her lips and said, “You said yourself that you’ll allow me to open the restaurant! Don’t break your promise!” Xiao Chen’s gaze gave Jing Yue the creeps; she suddenly jumped up in horror.
“I did allow you to open a restaurant, but I didn’t expect you to have a nasty design on our mansion’s chef.” Xiao Chen narrowed his eyes. It sounded as if he had growled out those words, which were filled with so much hatred that Jing Yue shuddered.
“But…there are several chefs in our mansion. You just need to lend me one of them. Just one!” Jing Yue pleaded, swaying Xiao Chen’s arm in a fawning manner. “Besides, there’re only a few of us in the mansion anyway. We don’t even need that many chefs…”
“Hm?” Xiao Chen was enjoying the moment, his heart full of joy. But his serious expression didn’t change a little at all.
“Please! Please…” Jing Yue pouted, “Xiao Chen, I know you’re the best… please lend him to me!” Jing Yue hung on to Xiao Chen’s arm and used every bit of charm she had to convince him. The corners of Xiao Chen’s lips lifted slightly as he tried not to smile. His eyes flickered as he took in the adorable, childlike innocence in Jing Yue’s demeanor.
Xiao Chen pressed his lips together and said, “Well, there’s no harm in lending him to you….”
Jing Yue’s eyes brightened instantly. “Really? Oh, you are so kind!” Gosh! As expected, acting coquettishly was very effective.
