557 The Conjectures of Thinking Creatures
Late at night, most areas were brightly lit, and many mining facilities ran twenty-four hours a day.
Many people did not even turn off their television before they fell asleep at home. They could use any kind of heating or air-conditioning equipment at will.
Of course, this did not mean that people were no longer thrifty and were keen on extravagance as well as being wasteful.
They just did this because they had an inexhaustible supply of electricity.
Electricity was cheap, and there was no need to worry about electrical appliances being damaged due to power failure.
When foreigners saw this, they could not help but be envious.
How they wished that their country could be the same!
The mining equipment responsible for excavation in the sea and rivers kept digging. Construction of cities was also accelerated by the controllable nuclear fusion reactor.
Large-scale equipment that was once difficult to put into use, such as mining carts, could be put on the agenda and run twenty-four hours a day without worrying about loss.
China’s development was progressing at a rapid pace. Hence, other countries expressed their willingness to purchase energy from the controllable nuclear fusion reactors.
The nuclear fusion reactors constantly produced energy and this made them incredibly important. The cost of buying a reactor would be lower than the total cost of their electricity, so why would these countries not be willing to buy it?
As for China, this endless energy could be exchanged for money, so it naturally agreed.
At the same time, fishing in the sea area had temporarily come to an end. No metal boxes had been found in the last two to three days.
However, Wu Mo suddenly received a piece of terrible news!
He had been in a good mood thanks to the success of the controllable nuclear fusion research.
Unfortunately, this news made his mood instantly plummet.
“Are you saying that the spaceship suddenly has disappeared from our satellite images?” Wu Mo confirmed again.
The tone on the other end was unusually heavy. The person seemed to be on the verge of tears. “Yes, Chief Engineer Wu! That spaceship…It’s gone!”
Wu Mo immediately pushed aside other matters at hand and rushed to the surveillance base.
No matter how hard he searched the satellite surveillance screen, he could not find the spaceship.
The spaceship was supposed to be only within 480 kilometers!
The satellites’ range of detection far exceeded this distance.
This meant that even if the spaceship suddenly came back online, it would not instantly disappear.
“Chief Wu, according to our observations, when the spaceship disappeared, the spatial fluctuations in its surroundings were indeed abnormal. It didn’t disappear through the wormhole!” An Astronomist immediately walked over and said.
Another scientist added, “If it suddenly made a space-time jump in place and traveled through a wormhole, it would also leave traces of space-time fluctuations. It would not have disappeared without warning.”
After Wu Mo listened to the two scientists’ analysis, he understood two things: First, the spaceship did not disappear without a trace. Second, it did not disappear through a wormhole but escaped the satellite’s detection in an instant.
These two points seemed contradictory, but they implied how unusual the matter was and that they had to be prepared.
‘Did another ship from Carlot discover this ship and take it away? Their civilization is so advanced that our technology is unable to track them. Perhaps they’re products of a four-dimensional world, and we can’t detect them in this three-dimensional world?’
A series of strange ideas emerged in Wu Mo’s mind.
The difference between a three-dimensional world and a four-dimensional world was like the difference between a human and an ant.
Ants that lived in the two-dimensional world would only survive on a flat surface. They would not be able to look up to see the humans living in the three-dimensional world.
Similarly, could we humans only see our own kind and the things around us, but not the four-dimensional creatures that lived in the spatial layers and could travel freely through space?
Wu Mo slowly said, “One-dimensional creatures only exist at one point. Two-dimensional creatures walk along a line, while three-dimensional creatures like us can move in a fixed space. It’s said that four-dimensional creatures are limited only by time and they can travel through different spaces.”
Hearing Wu Mo’s words, everyone widened their eyes in surprise.
“Chief Engineer Wu, you’re saying this spaceship might have come from a four-dimensional world and we only discovered it because it lost energy and stayed in this three-dimensional world?” a researcher asked in a trembling voice.
“Yes.” Wu Mo nodded and solemnly said, “It might have activated some kind of energy that allowed it to make a four-dimensional space jump. Hence, it instantly disappeared from the area.”
This would explain why there were spatial fluctuation data, but there were no signs of a wormhole appearing or disappearing.
Ultimately, it all pointed to a fourth dimension!
“In that case, what should we do next, Chief Engineer Wu?”
The group of researchers was at a loss because they had never encountered such a situation before.
The third dimension, fourth dimension, and even the legendary fifth dimension and sixth dimension… This was a complex matter, and they had yet to verify the existence of these different dimensions.
But now, this might be the only explanation.
“Get the satellites to monitor the area. If they detect any abnormalities, analyze them immediately and report to me!” Wu Mo ordered.
“Alright, Chief Engineer Wu!” everyone responded.
The disappearance of the Carlotian spaceship was undoubtedly very bad news.
Wu Mo fell into deep thought. If this spaceship really returned to Carlot and revealed everything that had happened on this planet, would they send a more powerful spaceship to rule this so-called primitive planet?
“We have to develop controllable nuclear fusion into weapons and aerospace technology!”
Wu Mo’s eyes flashed with a resolute light. If they could arm themselves with controllable nuclear fusion, they could greatly increase the planet’s strength.
Even if an advanced alien civilization descended, humanity would still have the strength to fight back!
At this time, Wu Mo needed points urgently.
He quickly gave the old chief a call.
When the old chief heard Wu Mo’s plan, he could not help but exclaim in surprise, “What? Wu Mo, Life First hasn’t even sold out yet, but you’re already preparing to launch Life Second?”
Wu Mo nodded seriously. He had thought it through. All three potions would be available for sale.
After all, he was the only one who knew the composition of the potions. No scientist in any country in the world could replicate it perfectly.
Therefore, the old chief’s worries were unnecessary.
“Alright, Wu Mo. Although I can’t understand it, there has to be a reason for you to come to this decision. I choose to trust you!” The old chief continued to support Wu Mo unconditionally.
Immediately after, the world’s best quick purchasing agents were shocked to hear the news. At noon on a certain day, China’s official website for Life First released a notice… Life Second was about to be launched!
“What? Life Second is going on sale?”
Upon hearing this news, the people of the various countries were dumbfounded.
Those who had not bought Life First were ecstatic, while those who had bought it were in extreme agony.
“D*mn it! Life Second can increase one’s lifespan by sixty years and make one thirty years younger. Its effects are two times better than that of Life First!” Some people were filled with regret.
“Hehe, forget about it. This product is going to be ridiculously expensive. We might not be able to afford it,” someone reminded.
“Sigh, that might be true, but I’m willing to spend all my wealth if it means I could buy a bottle of Life Second!” Someone sighed.
“Hmph, isn’t it self-explanatory? Who wouldn’t want to live for another sixty years? It’s equivalent to receiving a second life and becoming thirty years younger. It’s like being reborn.”
