Chapter 46: Nourishing A Soul
Mu Zi really could not accept that cold, slithering reptile. She could not accept living with Mu Rongcheng even more. She struggled free and ran to the kitchen to beg Bai Wei—
“Mom! Does the household spirit pet really have to be a snake? We can keep a cat or a dog. Why does it have to be a snake?!”
Bai Wei was squeezing fruit juice. She said awkwardly, “The master said that your brother’s snake is very spiritual and is perfect to be a household spirit pet. He even performed an eye-opening ceremony[1] on it.”
Mu Zi wanted to vomit blood!
In all her life, she had never heard of someone performing an eye-opening ceremony on a snake!
Bai Wei poured out a cup of freshly squeezed juice and handed it to Mu Zi. She said placatingly, “Just think of it as an ornament. It doesn’t move around much anyway.”
However, it was terrifying when it did decide to move!
Mu Zi drank the fruit juice, feeling bitterness in her mouth. Her heart was even more bitter.
Outside the kitchen, Mu Rongcheng leaned against the doorframe. His lips hooked up at the sight of Mu Zi’s burning eyes and yet was not able to do anything.
The snake was not a household spirit pet.
It was just an excuse he came up with.
When he had rescued Mu Zi from the water, she was already dead.
It was just like how a pillow would fall out if the pillowcase was oversized. The relationship between a soul and a soul jar was the same.
Before the two completely integrated, Mu Zi could not be considered a living person. She was just a ghost wearing a meat sack.
What Mu Rongcheng wanted was to make her really ‘living’. He had to nourish her soul and prevent it from scattering in fright.
He planted five Yin trees outside.
Mulberry in the south, willow in the north, a pagoda tree in the east, a platycladus in the west, and cottonwood in the center. With the five Yin trees, it was a place where Yin energy would gather.
To nourish a soul, one had to first gather Yin energy.
The same was true for raising snakes.
Snakes were animals with extremely heavy Yin energy. A place with many snakes would become cool. That was why he had moved Sisi to the bungalow.
Living in a place so rich in Yin energy would inevitably affect the living, so he bought two Kun Lun Hong for Bai Wei and himself to wear.
The Kun Lun Hong was extremely Yang, so it would offset the negative Yin energy.
His mother was kind and naive, and easily believed the words of the master he had hired without a hint of doubt.
Mu Rongcheng was in a good mood. Everything was going according to his plans, except… She did not use the soul jar he had carefully prepared.
She was supposed to be his girlfriend, but she ended up as his little sister.
However…
Mu Rongcheng looked at Mu Zi drinking fruit juice in the kitchen and his eyes narrowed. ‘This isn’t too bad either.’
Mu Zi finished drinking the juice and washed the cup before staggering out of the kitchen.
Her anger surged at Mu Rongcheng’s face.
She had never hated a person so much!
The most hateful thing was that she could not do anything about it! She could only avoid him.
She wanted to hide, but Mu Rongcheng did not let her. Now that they were living under the same roof, he could do much more than before.
Mu Zi was pressed against the wall by him.
The girl’s bright eyes burned with anger. She bit her lips and glared at him!
Mu Rongcheng teased her with a smile. “What juice did you drink just now? Was it good?”
Mu Zi snapped back. “Why don’t you just try for yourself?”
“Oh, that’s not a bad idea.” His smile was twisted.
A bam sounded!
Then, there were crashes as if furniture was being knocked down!
Even with the noise from the blender, Bai Wei heard the commotion and hurried out of the kitchen in shock. However, she only saw Mu Zi running upstairs as well as the clutter on the ground.
“What happened?” Bai Wei asked blankly.
Mu Rongcheng slowly lifted a chair. He licked his slightly wet lips and said, “Mom, did you add blueberries to the juice? It tastes quite good.”
Bai Wei was very flattered by her son’s praise. She liked mixing apples, snow pears, and blueberries into a juice.
Then, she felt that something was odd. Mu Rongcheng did not drink the juice, so how did he know?
Mu Rongcheng had already walked away…
[1] An eye-opening ceremony is a ritual performed to enshrine the Buddha into a new space.
