With a craving for flesh, they screamed and rushed towards the gate.

A dozen meters away from the gate, a circle of protective fences erected by soldiers with sharpened wooden piles was surrounded. However, the fences had little effect and were quickly broken by the zombies.

In the darkness where the light couldn’t reach, God knows how many zombies were still coming.

The searchlights had bright lights, exposing the rotten dead flesh, the exposed bones, blood-stained clothes, and even the stained and yellow teeth of the zombies. Liu Fangzhou’s face paled even more, and he subconsciously stepped back while covering his mouth.{n1}

The base had two layers. The outer layer was the two iron fences, which were tall and heavy and firmly locked with chains and iron bolts. The inner layer was the iron sheets and wooden boards that the soldiers later added both for reinforcement and to prevent other people from looking inside.

At this time, the first batch of zombies that rushed had hit the gate. The sound of nails scratching on the iron was terrifying. After reaching the outer layer, he escaped from the zombie’s wildly waving arms and stabbed the knife tip through the fence towards the zombie’s head.

The thorn stick in Chen Nan’s hand happened to be able to play an advantage at this time, and rushed down to join the soldiers without a word. Liu Fangzhou wanted to help but was terrified when Shen Shian said, “You don’t have to go down, I need you to detect the number of zombies in real time.”

The boy was relieved in his heart and immediately answered, “Okay!”

The loud sirens still echoed repeatedly in the base. Within a few minutes, two or three hundred survivors ran from the direction of the dormitory building, and after roughly understanding the situation, they joined the battle.

Except for these two or three hundred people, there was nothing in the entire bedroom building. The remaining three thousand survivors were clearly awake. With Shen Shian’s vision, he could vaguely see many eyes behind the window, but no one ran out to ask what happened, and no one came to the door to support. The dark building was quiet. The sense of uncertainty in his heart grew stronger, and Shen Shian returned his gaze and looked at the situation at hand: more and more zombies gathered outside the gate, everywhere he looked were full of dense zombies. The two groups led by Luo Wei had set up more than a hundred machine guns on the walkway between the towers. Countless bullets shot into the zombies like a storm. From time to time, grenades thrown far away exploded into a blaze of fire, and the strong smell of smoke even covered the rotten stench, but it was still not enough to stop them from rushing to the gate.

The four or five meters tall fence around the base was the best protection against zombies, but it had also become the biggest obstacle to combat at this time: they were limited by terrain, only long-range attacks could effectively attack zombies, which made soldiers with guns the main force of combat. Taking count of the soldiers’ guns or ammunition, it was impossible to continue without restriction.

Among the survivors who rushed to support were two capable evolvers who could carry out long-range attacks. At this time, they did not conceal their ability, and they climbed a tower to help defend. The remaining people had neither guns nor long-range attacks capability. Most of them, like Chen Nan, concentrated at the door and attacked the zombies alternately with the soldiers.

However, there were a limited number of places where they could attack at the fences, and the accumulation of zombies also hindered the speed and efficiency of solving new zombies. As such, it was only a matter of time before the zombies broke through the door.

Shen Shian frowned more and asked Liu Fangzhou, “How many zombies are there now?”

“For, forty-six thousand…”

“Is it still increasing?”

He was neither a soldier nor survivors in the base, and they are all ready to leave tomorrow. He has no position and right to ask the other party for help, but the other party still chose to stay and fight, even willing to risk his life to lead away the zombies…

But now was not the time for emotions. Resisting the emotions that throbbed his chest, Luo Wei calmed down quickly, “It’s too dangerous and you have no experience with detonating bombs. I will let Tao Yuan take ten people with you. Tao Yuan!”

While Luo Wei gave orders to Tao Yuan, Shen Shian took Shen Xun to a hidden corner under the tower, took the Tang sword out of the space and returned it to him. “You wait for me here, I will come back soon.” Without waiting for the child’s refusal, he said again. “The evolvers in this base are weird. It rose along the cement road outside the square from one side of the wall to the other side of the wall. The ground shook violently and some mud fell down, but within a few minutes, a majestic mud wall with a height of more than ten meters and a length of more than 100 meters blocked the road tightly. The line became the second wall inside the base, firmly isolating the garrison and the survivors who came to support in the narrow area between the mud wall and the fences.

In the walkway, the situation was chaotic. The sudden shock caused the soldiers to stagger, and they were almost accidentally injured from the machine guns. Four soldiers, including Luo Wei, fell to the pile of zombies down below.
