Chapter 194: Chapter 61. The Wizard of the Moon (2)
“It’s strange.” I frowned.
I wanted to contact Maxium before I left, but the crystal ball did not work. It meant that either his crystal ball was destroyed, or he was in a situation that he could not immediately respond.
If something had happened, he would immediately report the incident to me. However, I had not received anything. It was clear that something had abruptly transpired.
“Maxium would have sensed it if someone was about to ambush him.”
Maxium had an outstanding ability as a commander. He wouldn’t be easily waylaid. He had probably prepared a few things for emergencies. But I could not get rid my uneasy feeling. After acquiring some foresight, my senses had become sharper. Nine out of 10 times, those instincts were right.
Crack! Rattle!
A sound came from the rear while I was looking into the crystal ball. As I turned, two unusual-looking skeleton soldiers greeted me.
“Chaos soldiers.”
A chaos soldier had eight legs like a spider and two torsos. It also had two heads and four arms. They were all made of bones and looked very bizarre. I purchased two of them. I opened my Mind’s Eye and read through the status window.
Name: Chaos Soldier
Capability:
Power 101, Intelligence 66, Speed 88, Strength 99, Mana 77
Potential (431/431)
Others: A powerful skeleton soldier born in chaos.
Skills: Chaos and Destruction (Epic), Super Acceleration (Ex U)
They were of good quality for a skeleton-type monster. They even had one epic-grade skill. Usually, monsters that could be purchased in the store were not that great, but these chaos soldiers were actually good.
As I walked, two chaos soldiers followed me. When I arrived at the entrance of the dungeon, two huge monsters were waiting for me. They were two bone dragons.
I had spent several points than I had planned, but it was a good deal. If I had bought the bone dragons from the Auction of Devildom, they would have cost me more than 56 million points due to the competition.
Their bodies were close to 100 meters long. Their wings were even bigger than that. I had purchased two of them. Everyone would be overwhelmed when they saw these bone dragons.
I slowly climbed on top of one dragon. Two chaos soldiers also rode on the other dragon and held the reins. I expected the combination of chaos soldiers and bone dragons would make an unimaginable, destructive power. Of course, a bone dragon wasn’t a demonic dragon, but still, it was a dragon.
Dragons were proud creatures. It was almost impossible to command them. Honestly, I had been very envious of demons who managed to obtain dragons.
Now, I was able to control two bone dragons. It was not as strong as a demonic dragon, but the bone dragon was the strongest one among the undead or skeleton-type monsters.
“Master! Where are you going?”
Lyhee showed up, rubbing her eyes as if she had just woken up.
“I am going to see Maxium. Report to me in case urgent things happen.”
“Lyhee is good at reporting. Lyhee-hee.”
I didn’t have great faith in her, but Lyhee had learned from lots of mistakes and accidents. If there was an urgent matter, then she would report it to me immediately. Of course, her version of “urgent” might be different. Since both Krithli and Tashumal were busy at the moment, I had no choice but to rely on Lyhee.
“Talk to Julium for other things.”
Julium, the elder of the dark elves, was trustworthy. As I had given her multiple instructions, Lyhee puffed out her cheeks as if she felt burdened by the tasks.
“You can trust Lyhee, Master. Lyhee will keep her eyes wide open and watch carefully.”
If she did not fall asleep, I would be at ease. I didn’t say anything and just kicked the bone dragon once.
Kuah!
The bone dragon roared and spread out its wings. The chaos soldiers pulled on the reins of the other dragon, and then two bone dragons began to fly, escaping the dungeon.
“Have a safe trip!” Lyhee bowed, then waved her hand.

Maxium was in Brazil the last time I had contact with him. He had told me he was hiding at a small city called Belem to examine the military force. It was quite far, but the dragon’s speed was faster than I had imagined. I was able to reach the destination in only half a day.
The city next to the sea fell into ruin. The corpses and bones of all types of monsters were all over the place.
I got off the bone dragon, looked around, and tried to decipher what had transpired in here. “He encountered an assault right about here…”
It was literally an attack. It was unexpected, and Maxium’s troops were greatly damaged. However, I couldn’t find Maxium’s body anywhere. I was sure that the culprit would be one of the demons in Ufa’s faction. As I looked around, it seemed like Maxium faced a rough going.
“I just wanted to give him new monsters and leave.”
So far, I did not need to be at the front and center of the battle. Ariel would do her best to get rid of Ufa. I just needed to help her a bit using Maxium. But Maxium was attacked. He might still be alive, but he had surely suffered a great loss.
“I have to find him.”
Maxium was very useful. I didn’t want to lose him yet.
“Look around. If you see anything strange, tell me right away.”
Rumble.
More than a hundred shades began to move. I decided to bring the shades since I lost contact with Maxium.
After about 30 minutes, the shades returned one by one and guided me. Most of them were of little help, but I found one significant thing.
“Transportation magic square.”
In a deserted house, I found a sign of the transportation magic square. It was mostly gone, but I was sure of it.
Making transportation magic squares required a lot of time and resources. It would be a strange place to build in here. Since Maxium had been staying here, he probably was the one who made this in case of emergency.
“The flow of mana is broken.”
Unfortunately, the mana circuit of the magic square was blocked. In this case, I could not read the mana to find Maxium.
“It looks like someone who was running after Maxium had blocked the flow of mana on purpose.”
I pressed my temples with frustration. If Maxium had been under attack and evacuated quickly, there would be no time to remove the trace of mana. It must have been eliminated by the enemy.
“Why?” I wondered.
They must have thought that someone was helping Maxium.
“I don’t know if they have already figured out that I’m the one behind Maxium, but I’m certain that they already know Maxium is working for someone else.”
I figured the enemy was not easily fooled. It was a smart move for them to delete all traces of mana. Due to this, I didn’t know where to find Maxium. I couldn’t locate him.
“Hmm…”
As I searched around, I found a shabby sword in the messy ruin.
“This is Maxium’s sword.”
I grabbed the ordinary-looking sword. I was certain that Maxium had used this sword. The sword could give off a splendid golden color when fighting, but it usually looked plain when not in use. Maybe this was the reason why the enemy didn’t take the sword. The only sword they had seen would be the bright golden color in Maxium’s hands.
I injected my mana into the sword. Then, a faint golden aura surrounded it.
Rumble!
At that moment, the sword shook. I stopped injecting the mana, and the sword stopped shaking as well. As I injected my mana again, it also quivered.
“Hmm… The sword is responding to the southeast.”
I nodded. I was sure there would be a reason for this. It was very rare, but the sword that had been used a long time could earn an ego. Maxium had been using this sword for more than a thousand years, so there was a high possibility that the sword had its own ego. Even if it was not a complete Ego Sword, it might be able to find its owner, at least.
I left the ruins. Then I got on the bone dragon and commanded it, “Go to the southeast.”
***
South America was Ufa’s turf. I couldn’t move around as I pleased. It could be a problem if I was caught.
“Somebody is following me.”
I sensed someone. It was probably one of Ufa’s demons named Droom. He was an insignificant fellow, but he was obsessed with his territory. Dozens of wyverns were chasing me from afar.
“Speed up.”
There was no way the wyverns could catch up with the bone dragons.
Whoosh!
The bone dragons spread their wings wide open and flew swiftly.
There were a few more chases, but I easily escaped. Soon, I found the place where the sword reacted most strongly. It was a mountainous region. Maxium was probably hiding somewhere.
“Wait here.”
The bone dragons were too big, so I decided to move alone. I left the chaos soldiers with the bone dragons.
“I can smell death…”
The deeper I delved into the mountain, the more puzzled I became. I could not see traces of monsters, but I could smell something bad.
This awful smell was familiar to me. I had encountered it when I killed the commanders in the Underworld. However, this was Earth, and the only commander was Maxium. This smell might have come from Maxium.
“I might be wrong. I have to check.”
Unless Ufa himself attacked Maxium, Maxium would not be easily defeated.
I clicked my tongue and sped up.
I followed the direction where Maxium’s sword was reacting. Soon, I found a cave. A stronger smell was coming from it.
“This is it. Maxium is here.”
It was quite a long cave. I didn’t see any other soldiers at all. As I went further, I finally found Maxium who was leaning against the wall. He grabbed the horse’s tailbone and lost his consciousness. It was difficult to tell if he was dead or alive simply by his appearance.
“Maxium,” I injected mana into my voice and uttered his name.
I waited a few seconds. Maxium moved slightly. “Your…Majesty?”
He recognized me and tried to stand up. I stopped him and said, “That’s right. You don’t need to get up. Just explain what happened.”
“Moon…”
“Moon?”
“A wizard…who has huge mana of the moon…,” Maxium managed to say and lost his consciousness again.
I carried Maxium on my shoulder carefully.
“A wizard? Not a demon?”
If the opponent was a demon, he would have told me the name. All Maxium had said was ‘wizard’.
However, I did not have any memories of a wizard related to the moon. Some human awakened heroes had had similar names in my previous life, but their levels were not good enough to harm Maxium. Also, they would appear later.
“Ufa must have done something again.”
I shook my head. I had to treat Maxium first.
