Chapter 196: Chapter 61. The Wizard of the Moon (4)
The Wizard of the Moon stretched his bent back. His long hair was pointing upwards, towards the sky, and his two dark eyes were revealed. It was like the night had been transferred into his eyes. He had a very skinny figure and a face that resembled a skull.
Soon, the Wizard of the Moon started to rise into the air. Darkness rolled towards him, and the area around him became as clear as night. The moon rose where the sun was, and his two dark eyes shone in yellow.
The bone dragons instantly turned around. They sensed that it was an enemy stronger than them. The Wizard of the Moon stretched out his hands and the moon shone brighter.
Rumble!
Light particles gathered at his fingertips. Then, the light split into thousands and tens of thousands of rays. They were like shooting stars in the night sky. The rays headed towards the bone dragons.
Whoosh!
Boom!
The bone dragons fought back by breathing. Breathing was the basic skill that all dragons had by nature. A bone dragon’s breath was powerful. With a breath skill, a bone dragon could destroy everything in front of it.
However, this time, the breath that touched the starlight was absorbed and lost all its strength. Something unimaginable was happening in front of their eyes.
The bone dragons noticed the danger, stopped striking, and descended. Arentu’s monsters attacked the bone dragons. The bone dragons cut them off with their teeth, then quickly flapping their wings to escape from the night zone.
The Wizard of the Moon chased them with a stoic face. His speed was as fast as the bone dragons.
They engaged in a chase. As the Wizard of the Moon moved, darkness moved as well. Only faint starlight remained where he passed. He did not mind even though he was far from Arentu. The only command he received was to deal with the bone dragons.

I was waiting for a signal from the top of the mountain. My view was wide enough to immediately notice someone entering the area.
Maxium said that he didn’t notice the Wizard of the Moon until he was close. In other words, this was a test. I wondered if I could recognize the wizard as he approached.
I sat at the top and closed my eyes in meditation. A few days had passed, and I maintained my position. I didn’t move an inch since I had started.
“I thought moving my body was the only way to train myself.”
I believed that training more than I used to was the key to becoming stronger. It somehow worked, and my strength actually increased.
However, I had encountered the Tree of Origin and found enlightenment. Now, I could train myself through meditation. This mind training was more efficient than physical training at my current level. I could look at myself as objectively as possible and refine my techniques.
It was really incredible. I realized that I couldn’t become stronger without raising my stats, but I had gone one step further even with the same stats.
No, that was not right. I was already familiar with it, but I had forgotten. How did I fare in my previous life? How did I get along before I came to Earth?
I had known better than anyone else because I had to survive on the battlefield, learning how to beat the strong ones as a weakling.
However, after coming to Earth, status windows were made, and I only had been focused on stats and skills. They were both visible, so I hadn’t doubted that they were reliable indicators.
But my shadow had overwhelmed me with the same stats. I was able to realize that even the same stats could make a difference.
I had literally become a slave to the status window. I had ignored other things besides it. It was totally my fault. I had to fix it.
“This feeling…”
Suddenly, I felt something strange. My brows furrowed. The weird feeling crawled up my skin, and I got goosebumps.
I wanted to laugh, but I couldn’t. I found it unusual that my body reacted first before my consciousness. In this case, it meant only one thing: a strong enemy was coming.
I had already met the Archdukes. I also knew how strong they were in my previous life. My body and mind had already adapted to strong adversaries. When I had met the Spirit King of Fire, I was surprised, but I did not have goosebumps like now. The being that was approaching was different.
It had been a while since I felt such an impression. But somehow, it did not feel overwhelming. It was just different—everything was different. I was confused. I frowned. Then I opened my eyes, looking towards the direction where this unusual feeling was coming from.
“He has arrived.”
The night was approaching from far away. I could see it with my naked eyes.
I succeeded; Maxium did not. However, that was my limit. I only recognized the adversary, but I still had no idea what it could do. I wished my weak foresight would improve.
Therefore, I raised the Flame of Pride.
“Who the hell are you?” I mumbled.
The Wizard of the Moon who could bring the night with him… Ufa had now revealed the secret he had been keeping…
***
The Wizard of the Moon was chasing the bone dragons incessantly. As he came closer, the area around me became darker. I became very confused the moment I saw him. I found it challenging to size him up. Even identifying his strength or the type of mana he had, which used to be easy for me, was tough.
The only thing I could tell was he seemed unstable. The flow of mana from him felt like an explosion as the world was being born. I had never seen such type of mana before, so I wasn’t sure how to assess it.
“I have to face him first,” I declared.
He was an unknown enemy. If everything was covered in a veil, then I needed to peel it off. An outline might appear if I removed even just a bit. I pulled out my two swords, Rage and the Sword of the Emperor.
“Dark Sword.”
The swords turned black as I activated the skill. I also injected a lot of my mana in the swords just before they would produce an explosion. Then, I wielded the two swords towards the flying wizard.
Boom!
A huge explosion occurred that devoured hundreds of meters around it. The explosion expanded and compressed, destroying everything. However, it didn’t have an effect on the wizard. It only burned a little bit of his hair.
It did not make sense. Even I would be a little hurt from that. Then I noticed something behind him: the moon. It was shining brightly. He could bring not only the night but also the moon.
“Is that some sort of life vessel?” I wondered.
A life vessel was an item that liches used to save their lives. Usually, liches stored that in their bodies, but the others couldn’t resist the temptation of immortality, so they hid life vessels somewhere else. The moon had a similar vibe with a life vessel.
However, saving life in a life vessel was very inefficient. Doing so meant that one could not use strong magic, and their body’s recovery would be very slow.
“He was hit but recovered immediately.”
There was a reason why I could not confirm if the moon was actually his life vessel. From the attack I just made, his body was destroyed. It was only for a moment, but his body was totally damaged. There was no way it could recover that fast—there should be no way. But I knew what I had just witnessed… his body was able to swiftly recuperate. It was beyond shocking.
“What was that?”
I could not figure out what just happened. He was surely a strange fellow. Usually, the enemy who was attacked by the Dark Sword skill could not recover. But the beings that passed the realm of transcendence were exceptional. Perhaps he was one of those.
The Wizard of the Moon looked at me momentarily. I was waiting for him to launch an attack because only then I would be able to figure out his aptitude. But I should still be prepared to dodge in case it got too much to bear.
However, he just passed me as if he didn’t notice me. He only chased the bone dragons which were flying away behind me.
“Huh? What? My attack didn’t even make you ticklish or something?”
I was outraged. I had never seen this kind even in my previous life. Whenever I struck, opponents would always retaliate.
I gritted my teeth and focused on the moon. If that was a life vessel, I would surely catch his attention when I strike it.
I turned the Flame of Pride into wings and quickly flew up. I tried to get as close to it as possible, but I couldn’t. It seemed like it was repelling me. I thought the wizard just created the moon in the Space of Night. I was wrong.
“What the hell…”
I had always been a sensible and open-minded individual. Still, the Wizard of the Moon was beyond anything or anyone I could think of. I opened my status window just in case.
“The effect of the Necklace of Highendall is working.”
The effect that could raise my mana by three only when the moon rose was activating.
“So that is a real moon?”
I attacked, but my strikes didn’t even reach it.
“Tut.”
There was no need to focus on something I could not do anything about. I clicked my tongue and descended.
About one-third of one of the bone dragon’s wings disintegrated. If I did not do something, the bone dragons would die.
“I have to get rid of him.”
There was no other way. If I kept on assaulting him several times, then he would eventually reach his limit. He would not ignore me anymore then.
“Paranormal,” I muttered.
[Paranormal’s blessing has been granted.]
[All stats will increase by two points for one hour.]
“Lightning God, go and devour him.”
I increased my strength further. I triggered the Dark Sword again around Rage and the Sword of the Emperor. I concentrated my mana and even added the power of the Lightning God.
I had never done this before. Now all my different types of skills were gathered around the two swords. Even I would have a hard time surviving from this attack. Before my sword produced explosions, I wield the two swords towards the wizard. A big explosion occurred again. The wizard did not even dodge it.
Boom!
It was an overwhelming sight that seemed to create a wall between heaven and earth. It was 10 times stronger than my previous attack.
“I don’t think I can use it many times.”
I spent quite a lot of my mana. My legs felt like jelly. I still managed to stand, but it seemed like I would not be able to use this attack often.
“Let’s see how you will react this time.”
The explosion repeatedly expanded and compressed. I could not confirm the situation inside. Shortly after, the aftermath of the explosion vanished, and I could see the target.
One of his arms was maimed. To be more exact, there was a leg that supposed to be an arm, and there was an arm that supposed to be a leg. It looked like his body had been restored so many times, and something went wrong in the process.
“It worked.”
He would not ignore me anymore. The wizard turned his head and looked at me intently for about three seconds. Then, he started to focus on assaulting the bone dragons again.
“…”
I was at a loss for words to describe how bizarre this situation was.
