Chapter 197: Chapter 62. The Reverse World (1)
“Let’s see how long he can ignore me for.”
The attack had clearly wounded the wizard, yet he only glanced at me for a second. It was as if the wounds did not bother him. I decided to test how bold he was. It wouldn’t be this challenging for me had he not avoided my attacks.
Once again, I injected my mana into Rage and the Sword of the Emperor. Considering the wizard’s regenerative ability, simply cutting his neck would not work. I had to inflict enough damage to his body so that it would not immediately heal or regenerate.
Rumble!
Huge mana was formed between the two swords. It rushed towards the Wizard of the Moon.
“Ha!”
It had been a while since I got burned out like this. I did not utilize most of my physical strength, but I used most of my mana. It was because I had been striking for more than an hour.
At this point, the wizard couldn’t ignore me anymore. His empty eyes were now focused on me.
However, the Wizard of the Moon didn’t immediately launch an attack towards me, because one-third of his body was damaged. It was still surprising to me, though. It was hard to believe.
Even Seraph would not survive the attacks I had been throwing at the wizard. They could turn the Spirit King of Fire or the Archdukes into dust. Well, assuming that they wouldn’t dodge the attacks.
The Wizard of the Moon still managed to keep his body fully functioning although I struck him directly. His body had regenerated a hundred, a thousand, or maybe even ten thousand times; but it seemed like it had almost reached its limit.
“Who are you?” I asked as I approached him.
The Wizard of the Moon did not budge. He only gaped at me. I could see confusion in his eyes.
Perhaps he didn’t know how to deal with me. He was at risk, but he couldn’t decide on what to do.
“Maxium told me the wizard was always next to Arentu…”
He might be nothing but a puppet following orders. He was perhaps commanded to deal with the bone dragons, not stopping until he killed them. This explained why, despite my attacks, he wouldn’t fight back, because he was commanded to only deal with the bone dragons.
“How could a puppet be this strong?”
I couldn’t imagine how Ufa had obtained such a creature. It was impossible that Ufa had simply summoned him. It was completely different from when I met Contegnome, a being from Nothingness.
Ufa might have achieved something similar to me, like the Tree of Origin or upgrading the dungeon to a unique grade. But still, I could not believe that he found such a powerful being this time. The Wizard of the Moon, the creature in front of me, had never existed in my previous life.
“He’s dangerous,” I concluded.
My instincts warned me. I saw him attacking the bone dragons. He wielded attacks indiscriminately, so his efficiency wasn’t good. However, each strike was powerful. He also had regenerative abilities. Maxium had called the wizard invincible, and he was right. Even I sensed danger from him.
“What if Arentu ordered him to fight against me…” I wondered.
I calmly thought about it, but I was not sure. If he was reduced to a puppet taking orders, I might be able to win over him. However, if he actually fought in his own will, things would be different.
“The Power of Domination is not working.”
I had been assaulting him. He had been in a critical condition many times, but the Power of Domination had not activated at all. I did not think it happened because Ufa’s power was stronger than mine. Also, it would not make sense that the skill was not activated due to a mishap.
The only explanation was that the Wizard of the Moon was stronger than the Great Fire who had the Power of Domination.
The Great Fire was one of the seven greatest fires that Spirits of Fire had. They were like gods to them. They were not real gods, but they wielded enough power to be called gods. Many high or highest-grade monsters revered the Power of Domination.
“I have to kill him right now,” I calmly resolved.
I couldn’t let the wizard return to Ufa and increase his strength. I needed to get rid of him now if I could not manipulate him.
I examined him carefully to see if he would respond to me. If he did, I would preserve his life a little longer. I wondered where and how he came to be. Once I learned more about him, I would be able to summon something similar.
Still, there was only confusion in his eyes. He had never been assaulted this badly. If he only did what he was told and refused to retaliate, he would die. If he died, he would not accomplish his task of killing the bone dragons. It seemed like he was trying to decide at the moment.
I gathered my mana right in front of him. My two swords were overheated, but I did not stop. Soon, when all my mana was gathered, his gaze changed. He saw me with pure hostility. It was as if he mentally devised a strategy: beat me first, then the bone dragons.
“It’s too late,” I muttered.
I was already on the verge of completing my attack even if he realized—
Rumble!
“What?”
His body sucked in the darkness. The moon was still there, looking down on us. I sensed danger.
“This isn’t good.”
I struck first with a concentrated power stronger than any other attacks I had been using. It hit him.
Boom!
***
My whole body felt like it was burning. I opened my eyes, experiencing terrible pain. The hot sun was shining above my head.
Crash! Crash!
The sound of rough waves could be heard. I hardly managed to stand up.
“Where am I?”
Looking around, I realized I was on a beach. However, this beach was unfamiliar to me. I tilted my head in wonder.
I remembered attacking the Wizard of the Moon with my full strength and the night that he had absorbed turning into some sort of barrier. Then, the two powers struck, making an explosion. It was a huge explosion, so I must have been swept away by it. Since I used all my mana and was attacked by an equally powerful strength, it was not surprising that I lost consciousness.
“Hmm… My mana ran out.”
My mana was almost empty. Perhaps only a few hours had passed since I lost consciousness. The depletion of mana affected my body, so I wouldn’t be as powerful as before. I carefully examined my body’s condition.
“It’s very bad.”
If I encountered a high-grade monster, I would lose in this condition. I clicked my tongue and looked around to find a place to rest. I had to recover my mana first.
I was wearing the Conqueror’s Ring. It was an item that could recover mana by an extra 10 percent for each dungeon. According to my estimates, it would take three or four days to recover all my mana. The upside was I did not need to stay here during that time.
“Lyhee,” I called telepathically.
I could communicate with Lyhee even from a distant place. This was due to her blessing. I could order Krithli or Tashumal to come and pick me up. However, I could not reach Lyhee. She was not answering me at all.
“It’s strange.”
A similar thing happened in the Underworld. But no matter how hard I looked around, it looked like Earth. I did not feel any weird sensation like in the Underworld.
“What should I do? The world will fall!”
Suddenly, something passed in front of me. It moved so fast that I almost missed it. It looked like a rabbit, and it was about two meters tall. The white fur and red eyes were impressive, but its speed was remarkable. As it passed, the sand on the beach rose.
“What is that?” I wondered.
The rabbit passed where I was, glanced at me, and ran again.
“A bug has occurred near area 666! Damn it! I already have too many things to care about!” The rabbit uttered those strange words and ran someplace else.
“I guess I have to follow it.”
I’d never heard of such a creature. There were rabbit monsters, but they did not have such a presence. Also, I sensed something similar to the Wizard of the Moon from the rabbit. It seemed like this place was far from normal. I walked towards where the rabbit had gone.
“I can’t go fast. Hmm…”
I scowled. I could not speed up because I had used all my mana. Therefore, I started to run with my pure body strength.
***
I had been running for hours. Fortunately, traces of the rabbit remained. The rabbit was already far gone. I could no longer see it. However, there were other creatures. They were familiar-looking but still unusual beings.
“Area 811, 522 is broken. We have to fix it. Rkwl4080!”
“Terrapins!”
Giant terrapins were carrying hammers. They passed me as if I was invincible. There was a huge mantis that enjoyed sunbathing, and a bird that looked like a magpie was pecking at the ground.
All of them were muttering something that I could not understand. What puzzled me was the fact that they hadn’t noticed me even though I was very close to them. I even touched the mantis, but it did not react.
“Hey! Can’t you see me?”
I even climbed up the mantis’s body and stood on its nose, but it still did not notice me, not even a glance.
“It seems like that rabbit is the key.”
The only one who recognized me was the rabbit that I had seen the first time. Left with no other options, I descended from the top of the mantis and ran along the rabbit’s trail again.
***
I had been running for some time now. It seemed like it had been 10 hours, but the sky was still the same. Night did not seem to exist in this place. At least my body was still strong despite my mana being used up, so I could run without rest. A few hours later, I was able to achieve my goal.
“This is it.”
I found the last traces of the rabbit before they disappeared. I scouted the area and found a small wooden house. I entered the house without hesitation.
“A crack occurred near area 784!”
“Close area 227! Everybody, evacuate!”
“Argh! Where did our teacher go?”
Outside, it seemed like a small wooden house. But when I walked in, I saw a strange room with no end. Giant rabbits were sitting in front of huge screens, constantly talking about something. Among them, I was looking for the rabbit I had encountered at the beach. My mana had been depleted, but that did not mean I could not smell others’ mana. Soon, I found the rabbit. It was holding a notepad in the corner.
“Alas! What should I do? I can’t do this alone without our teacher…”
“Hey…” I greeted the rabbit.
“The system is a complete mess. Why is this happening? Who has access to the administrator privileges? I can’t access it at all. There is no way to repair this. Ugh!”
“Hey! Look at me!”
Thud!
I kicked the rabbit’s leg.
“Hmm?”
By then, the rabbit was looking in my direction. Its eyes were magnified to twice their size.
“Oh, no! Why is the bug of area 666 in here? Wait. How did it get in?”
