Chapter 233: Episode 73. Camael (2)
Many angels surrounded Camael. There were at least 30,000 of them. It would be difficult if they attacked me all at once, but the solution was easy.
“Don’t interrupt.”
I used the True Kotodama skill. I could use an overwhelming power of language. It could be conveyed not only from what I said but also from my gestures and expressions. The angels stopped flapping their wings and could come near us as if there was a wall between us.
The angels were just watching me. I glanced at Camael. His protective barrier wobbled. Then it disappeared.
“His power is the real problem.”
My True Kotodama was a skill enhanced with power, as well as Camael’s barrier. It seemed like two different powers could not assail each other. In other words, if his barrier was removed, he would no longer be my opponent.
‘I have to wait for the angels to be removed,’ I thought.
Fortunately, a lot of angels were around Camael. I decided to get rid of those onlookers at the same time while I dealt with Camael.
Whoosh!
The Flame of Pride soared into the sky. It would take too long to kill them one by one.
Whoosh!
I also extended the length of the Dark Sword skill. The swords reached up to 200 meters. As I wielded my swords, the angels who got in contact with the swords were immediately destroyed. They did not leave a trace.
Camael threw thousands of spears to stop me, but it wasn’t enough to keep me from striking them. The angels couldn’t attack me due to my True Kotodama, and nothing was as simple as dealing with an immobile enemy.
“At least, he didn’t bring many angels this time,” I muttered.
The last time I visited him, a similar thing had happened. At the time, 100,000 angels gathered around Camael. It was a fortunate time for me, so I happily got rid of them. I could not do anything to Camael, but he could not do anything to me either.
After that, Camael’s angels were significantly reduced. He observed my actions and placed a small number of angels. He moved alone. He realized that if he surrounded himself with angels, they would be easy prey for me.
Camael was a tricky adversary to me, and so was I to him. But at least, the shield of Camael began to crack.
“Let’s see how far you can hold,” I challenged.
The number of angels decreased quickly. Not many monsters were left either. Even if I got to eliminate 30,000 here, my monsters would still have to fight against the rest of the angels. I would not be able to help them because I decided to keep my eyes on Camael.
It was that time when…
Flap! Flap! Flap!
Camael became aware of my intentions. He knew he could not stop me with his abilities. Thus, the seraph started to move away, leaving other angels behind. He probably did so to hunt down my demons and monsters. I had no reason to leave him alone.
Kwang!
Lightning God moved ahead. It swallowed Camael’s whole body. It wasn’t able to inflict much damage on him, but it was enough to stop him. Shortly after, I arrived in front of Camael.
“Where are you going?” I grinned.
I was moving faster than usual. He wouldn’t be able to leave this place without my permission.
“…”
Camael frowned.
“So you are not a doll.” I smirked.
It was the first time I saw an expression on his face since I had encountered him.
The fight lasted for three days. It was not over yet, and I was not sure when it would end. It was because the rate of dying angels had significantly slowed down.
[Number of Remaining Angels: 153,229]
Some might wonder if it was possible to kill all of them. However, many monsters had excellent detection skills. The problem was that the number decreased by less than 1,000 in an hour. If it continued at this rate, then I could never tell when this battle would end.
It was a tedious war of attrition. I had no time to rest. Fortunately for Camael, he could recharge. His barrier had a unique quality that did not consume his divine power.
When I realized that, I immediately turned to my defensive mode. I only went out actively when Camael had tried to run away from me. However, the more frequent such actions were done, the more steadily my mana was being consumed.
If this continued, then I would only be able to last for about 15 days. A lot of mana was needed to deal with an opponent who did not sustain any damage. Even if I had been on the defensive, there was a limit.
“I have lost a lot of monsters,” I reflected.
I was continuously receiving reports through Lyhee. The monsters outnumbered the angels. However, the angels led by Camael were much stronger than the angels I had met at the Greenwich Observatory. This was a situation where victory was uncertain and simply having more monsters was not much of an assurance.
The participation of humans in this battle was a silver lining.
“Humans participated…”
I honestly did not expect it. The only possible group of humans that I could urge to fight was the Korean awakened heroes. However, at present, I was informed that most of the remaining awakened heroes on Earth had gathered to fight against the angels.
The humans were stronger when united. It was a valuable lesson I learned from previous experience. They were impenetrable when they worked together. In my previous life, heroes appeared, and humans faced the archdukes in the end.
I found it surprising that humans didn’t attack my empty dungeon. Instead, they were helping my monsters get rid of angels.
“Krithli’s plan turned out well,” I observed.
Lyhee told me Krithli had planned all these. Krithli encouraged Yoo Eunhye, and Yoo Eunhye aroused the humans. It was all the help I needed right now.
For instance, it was difficult to kill the angels moving on the outskirts. Humans took care of such small parts, and I was satisfied.
The activities of the Korean awakened heroes were particularly remarkable. They had no difficulties in dealing with angels with a higher level of strength than any other awakened heroes. I felt like my effort to train them paid off.
“The more you and I fight, doesn’t it look a lot like Devildom?” I said.
The land was ruined. It stretched out all the way to the horizon. The traces of the fight between Camael and I were carved all over the earth.
Camael wielded his spear angrily. I blocked his attack easily. It seemed like he was a more boring man than I was.

It was the seventh day. There was something strange with Camael’s behavior, as if he wanted to escape this war. He decided to move, ignoring me.
But I wasn’t going to let him go. The blow didn’t work, but he flinched and paused when I attacked him. I built a wall using the Flame of Pride and used the Power of Domination. Besides, True Kotodama worked a little bit.
“Stop,” I commanded.
I wasn’t expecting Camael to do what he was told, but he did. It was long enough for me to keep him in check. I realized I could achieve what I wanted if I aimed for the gap of power.
Camael’s barrier was solely for defense. If I did not intend to strike, then he couldn’t completely block it. While I spoke, Camael stopped moving. The seraph scowled. Well, it would be weird if he was not upset.
He could not move freely nor could win against me. The angels continued to diminish albeit at a slower rate. They were Camael’s line of defense, and so he was affected by their declining number. Camael began to move again.
“I said stop,” I reiterated, and he remained still.
My True Kotodama might be faulty at times, so I had to repeat my commands to ensure that it would work. When it did not work, I must go in person to stop him.
‘Approximately 100,000 angels left,’ I thought.
Even I was not sure how long this war would last.
I clicked my tongue. I was frustrated with how things were going in my fight against Camael.

It was on the 15th day. I started to feel tired. I could not predict Camael’s movements like before. It was a hit and miss for me. Meanwhile, a lot of monsters died.
I gritted my teeth. I bought monsters as soon as I got more points. However, I lost them faster than I acquired them. There were only 40,000 monsters left.
Around 20,000 angels were left. The number had decreased by 10,000 a day. At present, only about 3,000 to 4,000 angels died daily.
If this continued, I would be defeated. If I lost all my monsters and dungeons, I would not be able to reinforce my troops.
―Master, Gaparam created a large number of homunculus. He said they specialized in hunting angels. They still have a short lifespan, though. Gaparam also mentioned that he learned about angels when he studied Gustarte’s body. Lyhee-hee.
Suddenly, Lyhee called.
Yes…Gaparam…I had him. He asked me for some time before the battle began. I agreed and now he informed me of his findings.
He made homunculus that specialized in hunting angels! After Lyhee’s call, the extermination of angels increased dramatically.
Finally, only 400 angels were left at the end of the 20th day. However, it was hard for the number to decrease once it reached 400.
“He must have hidden the angels.”
I had to get rid of them all. Camael must have felt danger and scattered the angels across the world. He probably thought it was the best idea.
On the 21st day, 350 angels remained. On the 22nd day, there were only 270 angels left. At the end of the 25th day, the remaining angels were only 10.
Now, I had to save some mana to defeat Camael. I nearly consumed everything. It was almost over.
So the 28th day began…
[Number of Remaining Angels: 1]
Since yesterday, the hunt for the last angel had been futile. I missed Camael several times. My demons and monsters were in a hurry to avoid Camael rather than look for the last angel.

Yoo Eunhye was fighting against angels, leading 300 awakened heroes. At first, it was a large unit of 1,000 people, but, at the end of a month, only 300 were left. At least she was able to keep them. She had undoubtedly prepared for this.
“We can’t find angels anymore. Aren’t they all wiped out?” one female awakened hero asked Yoo Eunhye.
But Yoo Eunhye shook her head. “No, there are still some left. Please tell the other troops to pay attention. Keep on searching!”
The awakened heroes formed teams and were deployed to various places across the world. However, no news about the angels was heard a few days ago. Everyone thought it was over. They eased up on the defenses. However, Yoo Eunhye knew that it wasn’t over yet.
Boom! Boom!
A huge sound was heard not so far from the camp.
“How terrible! The Dark Lord’s fight with the seraph must have been dreadful.”
It was the sound of a fight between the strongest angel and the Dark Lord. People kept their distance from the battlefield, but the sound was too loud. It was as if they were right next to them. The flashes of light could be seen many times. Watching the fight from afar, the humans felt how small they were.
“Over there! That is the last angel!” one of the awakened heroes shouted.
It was near Pandemonium’s dungeon. It was filled with corpses of many monsters. It was where Camael had been summoned.
No one came close to this area, and none of the awakened heroes thought of searching it. The smell of the rotting corpses was one of the reasons why they avoided this place.
But a little light came out of the corpse of Pandemonium. The light was clearly of the angel.
“It was cleverly hidden.”
It was the last angel! It turned out that Camael hid it in Pandemonium’s body when he had killed the demon to prepare for a situation like this.
Even though it was cleverly done, the body decayed, so the light was revealed. A small angel was hiding inside the corpse, shaking its body.
Yoo Eunhye saw the angel and spoke without hesitation, “Kill it.”

Finally!
I smiled. Indeed, I was pleased. There were no angels left. It was just me and Camael. At the same time, Camael’s barrier shook and slowly dissipated. Soon, the seraph was naked. He was shocked. His face was red. Was he not accepting his defeat?
“Camael… Let’s end this.”
I had some mana restored, and it was time for me to use it.
Whoosh!
A wild wind blew. The Flame of Pride set up endless walls. And in these walls, there were only Camael and me.
