Chapter 45: The Cold, Walking Traveler
Chen B-Dog said grimly, “The snow in the forest is not easing up but getting heavier today. Logically, I should never take such a risk to continue my journey. But I have no choice now. I need to find something to feed the cubs as soon as possible, or else they will have problems.”
“So after eating the simple breakfast, I have to make a move.”
The scenes of taking care the tiger cubs last night were not broadcasted live but they were recorded. These materials were important for the post editing.
Yesterday, two little adorable babies helped in gaining popularity. They were dumb yet adorable. Many audiences specifically woke up early to see them. Unexpectedly, only a night later and the situation had worsened. They kept asking their condition and expressed their concerns over the cubs.
A blizzard was blasting outside. Last night, the light was dim so the audience did not have many feelings. Now, it was already daylight. The audience was stunned when they witnessed the brutal blizzard again. They could feel the coldness welled up the legs of their trousers even though they were separated by a monitor.
Chen B-Dog wrapped the cubs tightly and tied them close to his chest. He took a deep breath and strode out from the warm tiger cave. With determination, he continued to embark on the journey through the blizzard.
At this moment, the wild had completely ripped apart its veil of hypocrisy and showed its cruelest face to everyone directly.
It had been snowing for a whole night. Looking far away in the vast expanse of snow, the mountain peak was totally out of sight. The wind hoisted the snowflakes making them looked as if they were dancing in the air. The heaven and earth were connected into a piece of white.
The north wind was howling and the forest was full of the whining gales.
Chen B-Dog had not gone too far yet. He had been totally drowned by the blizzard. However, his footsteps were still firm. When he used the Grade S maximum level skill, “Step on Snow without Trace”, he was able to keep his speed and at the same time, it helped him to save his energy.
The audience entered the live broadcast room one after another. When they witnessed the brutal blizzard scene, they questioned “Why is Lord B-Dog still rushing? Is he crazy?”, “Rushing in such a heavy snowstorm. You are courting death now.”, “How are the tiger cubs? Can they stand it?”…
Luckily, the audience who joined earlier had voluntarily explained the situation. “The tiger cubs are dying. Lord B-Dog has only slept for three hours last night. He has set out early in the morning. Hopefully he can get out from there as soon as possible. Otherwise, he will be frozen and die in the jungle.”, “Such a heavy blizzard, no one would wish to continue the journey. According to Lord B-Dog’s plan, he ought to stay here for a day. But for the sake of the tiger cubs, he has no choice but to continue the journey despite the heavy blizzard.”, “I guess it is the first time we have seen this violent blizzard. Lord B-Dog is taking a risk to rush his journey. Let’s cheer for Lord B-Dog.”, “For the little Siberian tigers, come on B-Dog!”…
When Chen B-Dog took care of the tiger cubs last night, he was too bored. He used the remaining tiger tendon to make a tiger head hat. At this moment, he wore the hat tight on his head and tied his fur coat tightly.
Even so, his eyebrows were still totally covered with the snow. Under this circumstance, obviously he could not open his mouth and talk with the audience.
The blizzard was getting stronger and the cold bitter wind had brought snowflakes. The cold wind shook the branches and howled. It was frantically blowing the snow and sweeping it into the air. The wind had no regular pattern and it howled continuously. Its direction kept changing and it seemed to have the determination to make him fall. This sight sent a chill to the audience’s heart.
Additionally, there were snow particles hiding in the blizzard. They cut B-Dog’s face just like a sharp stone and smothered him. The tiger cubs which were cuddled at his breast had woken up and they howled. In this whirlwind of howling and roaring, their bitter voices could be heard. It was like a cat crying, like a wolf howling, and sometimes it was like the human’s calling for help during disasters.
The camera zoomed out further and further. Among a vast expanse of whiteness, the audience could only see a little black spot.
Without noticing, music started to play in the live broadcast room. And this array of music had completely removed any remaining description of happiness, rhythm, and excitement. It only left the violence of running in the cold and the loneliness of the pure white snow.
Everyone who was watching this while listening to the background music would have the same feeling and that was “COLD”.
Whether it was the environment of the icy snow ground and a dancing blizzard or the situation of the one day old little Siberian tigers which were dying, they had caused the audience to feel anxious. The rendering of the atmosphere of the screen and music were complementing each other. The footage of a little live broadcast room could be so grand also. Who would expect that?
And this charm was the reason making the newly joined audience stay in the room from time to time. That was what made his popularity to soar in such a short period of time.
The string music of this song was massive and majestic. The reverberation was very loud. All of a sudden, the string played two or three notes and stopped. Then it let the sound resonated in the audios and earphones of millions of the audience. When it was almost gone, it was struck again by the heavy strings suddenly.
Whoever heard this music and saw this scene would have the feeling of shock. People who knew music would be adore it. It was a kind of music technique similar to white space. The music stretching would let the audience to be aware of the sounds of wind, snow, and difficulty of the scenes along with his unintentionally clenched fist.
Chen B-Dog heard this music as well. He did give the instruction to Dog Egg to play some music at the right timing so he did not feel strange about it. He asked, “Dog Egg, this music is nice. Did I hear it before?”
Dog Egg answered, “It doesn’t belong to this space-time. Master, you may have the impression. This is the background music of the Oscar-winning film, “Wild Hunter”.”
“No wonder… do not forget to register the copyright.”
Dog Egg, “Rest assured.”
Chen B-Dog nodded and no longer spoke. He just asked casually and backed on the state of silence and hurried along. With the display of “Step on Snow without Trace”, his coat swung and his feet could hardly be seen clearly as the snow had covered them. He seemed to give off the feeling of leisure and enjoyment but only he knew the difficulty.
The open white wild land and a cold, walking traveler.
The music blended perfectly with the scenery. Sometimes it even turned silent, so that the audience could feel his heart by themselves.
The camera zoomed in. In the blizzard, Chen B-Dog had become a moving snowman. Only through the firm eyes under the tiger leather hat did people to recall that he was a human.
There was no anchor interaction today but the popularity of the live broadcast room was rapidly increasing. It was extremely lively.
“I feel like I am watching a Hollywood blockbuster. The filming technique is amazing.”, “It is much better than the pictures and background music of a local movie. Is this really a live broadcast room?”, “What is the name of the background music? It is divine music.”, “The music and the scenery only belongs to the heaven and they are hardly heard and seen on the earth.”, “Lord B-Dog only slept three hours last night. I don’t know if he can stick to it and bring the tiger cubs out from the wild.”, “My heart aches for Lord B-Dog!”, “Heartache +1.” …
When it was almost noon time, the snow was getting heavier and turned into a blizzard. Without the wind resistance of mountains and trees, the force of the wind at the wild area had achieved Level 10.
Chen B-Dog knew that clearly. On the mountain, the wind and snow were heavier and the temperature was lower. He was exhausted and he had to take a break. He came to a mountain valley, where there were no wind and snow.
He leaned on a giant rock, took off the coat and hat and wore it back after shaking off the heavy snow. Drinking the last drop of warm water in the thermos bottle, he took a long, long breath. Finally he spoke, “The wind and snow of this mountain valley are weaker. The temperature is rising obviously. I bet there are many animals that choose to hibernate in this valley. I need to find it clearly. Maybe I can find a beehive.”
“With adequate food, the winter bees will cluster together in the hive. We call it as hibernation. Their bodies remain stationary but they can adjust the cluster temperature to protect themselves from being frozen. However, in the wild, the group consisting of little bees cannot ensure their safety over the winter.”
“I hope I can find a hive and borrow some honey. Then, let the tiger cubs have their meals.”
The audience in the live broadcast room ignited the hopes again. A few explainers were giving their lecture of Popular Science to the audience in the live broadcast room about how the winter bees survived through the winter.
Some emotional female audiences had even started to pray.
Everyone had witnessed the effort of Chen B-Dog. The others were playing during their live broadcast but he was risking his life for his live broadcast. Even if he could not save the tiger cubs at the end, there was nothing could be said. However, it would be a regret.
