Chapter 410: Chapter 408: Disregarding the Empress’s Decree_1
“Since Master has decided on going, Yin’er will proceed to the Imperial Palace to make some preparations. If the Empress dares to harm Master, she won’t get off lightly with me.”
“Hmm, go ahead, I will wait for the person who carries the decree, and will as much as possible delay to give you sufficient time to gather help.”
“Alright, Master, wait for my good news!”
Little Kingfisher, fluttering its tiny wings, dashed across the horizon like a swift flash of lightning and quickly flew off into the distance.

“Qingluo, are you satisfied with the decorations in your boudoir?”
Ye Xue’e, unable to hear the telepathic conversation between the person and the bird, felt oddly surprised watching her younger daughter staring blankly at a screen for quite some time.
“I’m satisfied, Qingluo likes it a lot.”
Lin Qingluo reined in her thoughts, her eyebrows raised slightly, responding with a sweet smile.
“Mother thinks it’s a bit too plain. For a young girl’s boudoir, adding some lively colors would be better.”
Ye Xue’e, somewhat dissatisfied, turned around and ordered her close maidservant, “Ying’er, go back to Quiet Elegance Residence and check in the storage for the Seven-colored Glazed Cup, and place it in the young lady’s room.”
“Yes.”
Ying’er answered with a smile, as she turned to leave.
“Sister Ying’er, there’s no need to fetch that.”
Lin Qingluo, smiling, gently declined, “Mother, I don’t like flashy colors, things are fine just as they are, there’s no need to add anything else.”
“It’s just a glazed cup, it’s nothing.”
Ye Xue’e was intent on giving her daughter the best of everything.
“It is not suitable for a young girl’s boudoir to be too plain, adding some luxurious objects, making it look more festive, would be better.”
“Madam, should Ying’er go fetch it?”
Seeing the Madam being determined, Ying’er asked for confirmation once more.
“Go ahead.”
Ye Xue’e waved her handkerchief.
“Yes.”
Ying’er took her leave, turning around once again to depart.
Lin Qingluo let out a quiet sigh.
“Qingluo, if you need anything in the future, just tell Mother. Supplement the household items in time, don’t make things difficult for yourself.”
Seeing her daughter seemingly distracted, Ye Xue’e gently patted the back of her hand in comfort.
“I understand, Mother.”
Lin Qingluo went along with her sentiment: “At my own home, I won’t be shy.”
“That’s the spirit.”
Ye Xue’e firmly grasped her daughter’s delicate hand, and led her to the front of the bed.
“You got up early this morning and must be tired. Take a nap now, and join me at Quiet Elegance Residence for dinner. Just us two.”
“Mother, I’m not tired, tell me more about the family of the Duke of Zhen. Our family is prosperous with many siblings, and I can’t remember all their names at once. Mother, help me sort it out.”
Lin Qingluo, filled with premonitions, wanted to keep Ye Xue’e by her side to prevent her from getting a fright once the Imperial decree from the Empress was announced.
“Alright, if you’re not tired, then I’ll accompany you for a while longer.”
Ye Xue’e’s eyes were filled with joy as she instructed the maidservant to serve tea while chatting heartily with her daughter.
**
The residence of the Duke of Zhen was not far from the Imperial Palace, only three streets away.
The imperial eunuch carrying the decree arrived quickly; as the servant entered the main gate, and the news reached the Drunken Frost Residence, the Duchess of Zhen was visibly startled.
The Duke of Zhen remained composed, ordering someone to convey the news to the Old Master, another was dispatched to the Fluttering Snow Residence, to inform Lin Qingluo.
Fortunately, Ye Xue’e was in her daughter’s room, upon hearing of the arrival of people from the palace, she turned pale, clutching her daughter’s hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
Having anticipated this, Lin Qingluo was calm and collected as she comforted her mother before accompanying the messenger to the Drunken Frost Residence.
“So you are Lin Qingluo?”
The imperial eunuch carrying the decree was clearly taken aback upon seeing the composed young girl.
In his many years of delivering decrees, he had never met anyone who regarded the Empress’ decree so lightly.
