Chapter 26: The Astounded Tish!
According to Tish’s knowledge, someone who had never learned magic before, and someone who had never come across magic at that, should not be able to cast magic without chanting at all.
Even with her talent, it had taken her half a day to gradually understand the first-tier spell of elementary magic.
Then, there could only be one reason. It was highly possible that John had already learned high-tier magic and had a motive for approaching her!
Moreover, John could very well be a spy from another country who had come to kidnap her and hold her hostage to threaten her father, the king of the City-state of Gusteco, and force him to make certain concessions.
Tish had encountered such incidents multiple times since a young age.
Therefore, she was very conscious of John’s behaviour.
“From now on, I’m no longer responsible for your lessons. It’s better to let teacher Anna teach you personally.”
After saying that, Tish stood up and prepared to walk out of the classroom.
If John really did have ulterior motives, no matter what he had up his sleeves, as long as Tish distanced herself from him, his schemes would all be broken without a hitch.
Such a suspicious individual had to be reported to the others. Tish could not destroy the entire City-state of Gusteco because of her own choices!
Seeing this, John rubbed his chin and said helplessly, “To tell the truth… just now, when you were flipping through the book, I saw the explanation of those spells and understood the meaning of the fireball spell.”
“Moreover, teacher Anna didn’t mention anything about elementary first-tier magic in the last lesson. I only understood a little bit after reading it just now and then cast the spell.”
“Senior Tish, could it be that I cast the spell in a weird way?”
Hearing John’s series of words, Tish was stunned and she stopped in her tracks.
Who is he kidding!
However, when she thought of the book he brought up, she decided to flip open her magic book.
As expected, the first page of the magic book recorded the explanation of elementary spells.
As she saw that, Tish looked at John in disbelief.
“What’s wrong Senior Tish? Is there something wrong with the way I use magic?”
John wore a clueless expression on his face. It was difficult for Tish to ascertain that this casual and natural expression was something that could be faked.
“You mean… you just took one look at the explanation of the spell and then learned the elementary magic, the second-tier fireball spell?”
The elementary spell was actually not very difficult to learn. The key was whether or not one was willing to work hard. This was because if one did not study the magic spell in detail during its first-tier and directly jumped to the elementary level of its second-tier, they would be utterly confused.
Although the second-tier magic only increased the power and range of the fireball spell’s foundation, reading a spell that did not include any explanation was no different from a newbie reading a heavenly-tier book!
Even so, after taking only a glance at the explanation of the spell, John did not only firmly memorize it, and he could even use it with ease?
“Yeah, isn’t the difference between the first-tier fireball spell and the second-tier fireball spell just the slight increase in magic power? As long as you’ve read the explanation of the spell, you can just silently recite it in your heart…”
“Does senior Tish not know about this?”
Tish’s face turned red at this question. How could she not know?
She was almost at the level of a mage, and now he was asking if she knew the basics?
However, when Tish thought of how rude she was earlier on, she no longer had the cheek to lose her temper again.
In fact, at this very moment, she also deeply realized that although she was also a genius, when compared with John, she still seemed to be inadequate?
“Of course I knew that. It’d be only be natural for me to know something as simple as that.”
“But first, stretch out your arm.”
If the other party was a spy sent by another country, as long as their realm was at a higher level, their identity would definitely be exposed.
If the other party showed unwillingness or had the slightest intention to reject her, Tish would go out now and choose to let someone else replace her.
Things had happened too suddenly. As the beloved daughter of the king of Gusteco, she had to spare a thought for her country and her father.
At the same time, she also hoped that the person in front of her would turn out to be a spy from another country.
Because to be honest, John’s talent was a great blow to her. In the past, she did completely understand and was proficient in using elementary first-tier magic too.
But that took her an entire day!
But if all of this was based on the fact that John was a magic expert from another country…
Then everything would make sense. At worst, she could just use magic to escape from here.
As long as she was in the City-state of Gusteco, no one would be able to hurt her!
If John acted suspiciously in any way, Tish would then use magic to help her escape from the classroom!
Just as Tish was planning to make a run for it at any time, John reached out his hand without any hesitation.
“Although I don’t really get what you mean, I thought it’d be better to follow your instructions.”
He didn’t hesitate nor apprehend!
From John’s calm expression and his candid little actions from before, Tish didn’t know what to do for a moment.
Could he be pretending?
However, all her doubts would be appeased little by little after her magic test.
Tish did not say anything and a ball of blue light appeared in her palm.
“Senior Tish, what are you doing?”
“Don’t move.”
Tish replied coldly. If the other party was a Grand Mage, they would definitely know what she was going to do next.
Her test spell was specifically used to evaluate those whose magic cultivation was weaker than that of the spell caster so that she could know the other party’s magic talent and current strength.
And when using this spell on a stronger Grand Mage, the spell caster would then be isolated by an invisible barrier, which would lead to the failure of the detection spell.
Therefore, whenever Tish comes across a barrier that forbade detection, or any secret spell that caused the detection to work abnormally, she would immediately escape!
However, John did not resist at all. He just placed his arm there and waited for Tish’s test.
Upon looking at this scene, Tish bit her lips with reluctance. Then, she gradually placed her slender hand on John’s arm.
However, something that shocked her happened.
Psychic Energy: Intermediate Mage!
Magic Perception: the highest level!”
Elemental Attribute Affinity: fire type!
Magic Strength: Beginner Magic Apprentice.
Seeing this, Tish was beyond shocked. Was the person before her really like what he said and could easily pick up a spell just by glancing at its contents?
Because magic strength never lies. The kinds of magic a person had learned from others could never be eliminated from their body!
And John’s magic power happened to be in the initial stage of the Magic Apprentice, which was the level of elementary second-tier magic!
Could she really have been worrying too much just now?
On the other hand, John naturally did not have any concerns about Tish’s test.
In fact, testing his strength was able to dispel Tish’s wariness towards him.
According to what John read from the books, the detection magic of the human race was only used to detect the highest level of human magic that the target had learned.
The Dragon Slayer Magic was cast by draconic incantation, so it would not be easily detected by human magic.
Unless someone used magic that specifically detects the strength of the dragon race, the spell caster would never have known they were dragons.
And because the system covered up the presence of the dragons, one had to be of at least a Divine Mage level to perhaps even have a chance of detecting their dragon identity!
