Chapter 113: [113] Isn’t this because I’m afraid you’ll get jealous? _1
“So, Mr. Tang, you’re a man of hidden talents, actually knowing how to tell fortunes?”
When Qin Yanan looked at Tang Feng again, there was a hint of an unusual emotion in her gaze.
“What I keep hidden is plentiful. If you’re willing to peel back the layers one by one, one day you’ll see something even more terrifying,” Tang Feng said as he floored the gas, bringing the speed up to 120.
As a seasoned driver herself, Qin Yanan was not to be outdone, “Peeling layer by layer is so boring. Isn’t it much better to strip everything at once and bare it all openly?”
Tang Feng met her alluring almond-shaped eyes, and immediately shivered, “Well… Mrs. Nan, I have something to take care of, so I’ll be heading back first.”
“Naughty boy, don’t leave. Let your sister take a good look.”
“Help…”
Although she had only made a little over thirty thousand from the air conditioner sale, Qin Yanan still personally cooked lunch to treat Tang Feng.
Her cooking skills were mediocre, and she only knew a limited number of dishes.
Three dishes and a soup: stir-fried tomatoes with eggs, scrambled eggs with hot peppers, stir-fried hot peppers with tomatoes, plus a bowl of egg drop soup.
Actually, they all tasted more or less the same, but Tang Feng still had to pretend he was enjoying it immensely, otherwise Mr. Qin would be very displeased.
“By the way, I have something to tell you.” Qin Yanan dumped her half plate of scrambled eggs with hot peppers into Tang Feng’s bowl.
“Go ahead,” Tang Feng said with a pained expression, struggling to chew his bland food.
“Mr. Shen and his wife are inspecting that little mountain village in the next few days. They’re planning to use the money from the bracelet sale to help the village build roads,” Qin Yanan said as she blew on her egg drop soup and took a small sip.
“That’s a good thing. ‘To get rich, build roads first,’ as they say. It’s a deed of great virtue,” Tang Feng said, gobbling down the bowl of rice as though swallowing bitter medicine, tears welling up in his eyes from choking.
“Lingxiu Residence has also temporarily closed for business. They’re probably trying to lie low for a while,” Qin Yanan said as she set down her chopsticks and wiped her mouth with a napkin.
“I bet Wang Xiaodao and his gang won’t let this opportunity slip. They’re likely to act soon. We need to be more vigilant,” Tang Feng said as he picked a grain of rice from the corner of her mouth and tossed it into his own.
Qin Yanan immediately blushed at his frivolous action and gave him a coquettish glare, “After you finish eating, wash the dishes. I’m going to nap.”
“Why should I wash the dishes?” Tang Feng immediately protested.
“I cooked, so you wash. Clear division of labor. You can’t expect a free meal, can you?” Qin Yanan didn’t give him a chance to retort and turned to enter her bedroom.
“You’re the idiot,” Tang Feng muttered under his breath as he finished the remaining food and started clearing up the dishes into the sink.
Just then, his phone received a message.
He took it out and saw it was from Song Lele.
“Boss, I heard about your class reunion from Xinling. Sounds like you made quite the splash?”
“Splash? I was nearly pegged as a gigolo living off a woman. Some splash that was.”
“Really? What kind of eyesight do those people have? Which rich lady has such poor taste to keep you as a ‘kept man’?”
“Well, you’d be the authority on handsome faces. You’re the best-looking ‘pretty boy’ I’ve ever met,” Tang Feng teased.
“(bomb) (bomb) (knife) (knife)”
Song Lele sent a bunch of emojis, clearly annoyed by his comment.
Tang Feng quickly apologized, “Just kidding, don’t be mad. Oh, by the way, please thank Miss Xu for me. If it weren’t for her help yesterday, I would have really made a fool of myself.”
Song Lele responded almost instantly, “Why don’t you thank her yourself? Didn’t you two exchange WeChat info?”
It was apparent she was still caught up on the fact that he and Xu Xinling added each other on WeChat the other day.
“Ahem, actually, I’m not that familiar with Miss Xu. I’ve only met her twice, so it would be better if you thanked her for me.”
“I heard that Xinling sent you a banquet worth over a hundred thousand to save your face. And you think a simple thank you is enough?”
“Then what do you think I should do to thank her?”
“At least you could invite her for a meal and express your gratitude in person, right?”
“Actually, I had the same thought. It’s just that I was afraid you’d get jealous.”
“What are you talking about? I am a man, why would I get jealous?”
When Tang Feng saw her message, he suddenly realized he had gotten carried away and forgotten to hide the fact that he knew she was disguising herself as a man.
“Ahem, I was worried you had feelings for Miss Xu, and as good brothers, one must not covet another’s wife.”
“Cut it out. I do not fancy her one bit.”
“Then what kind of woman do you fancy? Tell me, and I’ll keep an eye out for you.”
“You’re still single yourself and you’re offering to find someone for me? Enough of this nonsense, I’ll let you know once I’ve booked the restaurant and send you the time and place.”
Tang Feng smiled as he put away his phone and half-heartedly washed the dishes.
At that moment, Song Lele sent over the restaurant address.
Tang Feng checked the distance; it was roughly fifteen kilometers away, quite a distance.
The time was set for eight o’clock in the evening.
Most likely, after dinner, he would miss the last bus back.
It looked like he needed to secure a vehicle first.
He thought about it and reluctantly walked up to Qin Yanan’s bedroom door and knocked, “Mrs. Nan, are you asleep?”
There was no sound from inside; she must have been asleep.
He knocked a few more times, but there was still no response.
He gently turned the doorknob and, to his surprise, the bedroom door opened.
Did he really seem that unthreatening to her, not warranting even the slightest sense of caution?
He felt insulted.
But this wasn’t the time to dwell on such matters; he slowly pushed the door open and stepped into her bedroom.
Though he had been to Qin Yanan’s place a few times, this was his first time venturing into such a private space as her bedroom.
First off, a faintly sweet fragrance hit him, intoxicatingly pleasant.
Qin Yanan laid on the pink sheets, clutching a large teddy bear in her arms, sound asleep and breathing evenly.
Her two fair, shapely legs entwined with the teddy bear were extraordinarily tempting.
Tang Feng couldn’t help but sigh; apparently, he was less appealing than a teddy bear toy, what a fail!
“Mrs. Nan, wake up, Mrs. Nan,” he whispered as he tiptoed closer to her and called softly by her ear.
