Chapter 120: 【120】Still don’t admit you’re dumb after being called out? _1
“Have you thought it through?”
Seeing that her emotions had stabilized, Tang Feng finally asked.
Mao Anyi nodded gently to express that she had thought it through.
Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, releasing her mouth and pulling the blanket next to him over her, leaving only the part that was used for the injection exposed.
“I remember, Mrs. Xin invited me to the bar for a drink. I had only one drink and got drunk. Then… then two men came, they wanted to take me away, I disagreed, but I couldn’t muster any strength…”
As Mao Anyi recalled the events, she muttered to herself, her eyes quickly lighting up, “I remember now, that’s when you appeared, you saved me.”
Tang Feng sat back down in his seat, “Indeed, it was I.”
“Thank you so much.”
Mao Anyi was overcome with retrospective fear, aware that if not for Tang Feng’s timely intervention, her fate today might have been bleak.
“No need to thank me; it was but a simple effort,” Tang Feng dismissed with a wave of his hand, striking a pose of an unfazed sage.
“By the way, is Mrs. Xin okay? They didn’t do anything to her, did they?” Mao Anyi suddenly remembered her good friend, and immediately began to worry.
“Mrs. Xin? Is that the woman with the red hair, wearing a red dress?” Tang Feng thought of that complicit woman, likely the “Mrs. Xin” she was referring to.
“Right, is she okay?” Mao Anyi asked anxiously.
With his legs crossed, Tang Feng suddenly posed a question, “Has anyone ever told you you’re quite foolish?”
“No.”
Mao Anyi pouted slightly, clearly displeased.
She was Zhonghai TV’s leading lady, and her success today was not just due to her beauty or a pleasant voice—a key factor was her intelligence.
Even though he had saved her, it was no reason to call her stupid.
Seeing her expression, Tang Feng couldn’t help but chuckle, “You’re still not convinced you’re foolish? Do you still not know who’s trying to hurt you?”
Mao Anyi furrowed her brows at him, “Of course, I know, isn’t it those two villains?”
“Villains? I think you’re the fool,” Tang Feng was completely speechless.
“You… you’re insulting me.” Mao Anyi had never been subjected to such a grave insult, and even though he was her savior, it still felt like a bit too much.
Indeed, he was her savior.
Had she actually been violated today, she would have refused to continue living.
So what Tang Feng preserved was not only her purity but her very life.
Yet, despite this, the tone of his voice still made her uncomfortable.
“Who is this Mrs. Xin to you?” Tang Feng had watched TV and thought this woman was intelligent, not expecting her to be so foolish. At a time like this, she still couldn’t understand.
“She also works at our TV station as a copywriter, and she is my best friend there,” Mao Anyi explained briefly.
“Do you often drink together in normal times?”
“Not really, we rarely contact each other privately, just occasionally shopping together. Today was actually the first time we drank together.”
“Did you invite her?”
“No, she invited me.”
“Why did she invite you?”
“She said my life was too dull and wanted to show me what night club life was like…”
The two of them went back and forth like interrogators and suspects.
Having heard her account, Tang Feng couldn’t help but laugh, “Since it wasn’t any day worth celebrating, yet she suddenly asked you to a bar for drinks, and you passed out after one drink. Then, two men tried to take you away… Don’t you think this seems like a setup?”
Mao Anyi furrowed her brows in thought, “Are you saying that Mrs. Xin and those two men conspired against me? Impossible, we’re good friends, why would she do that to me?”
Tang Feng couldn’t help but scoff, “Nothing but fair-weather friends. Your drink was drugged, yet she was perfectly fine. When I came to save you, she was still speaking on behalf of those two guys. Does that seem like something a good friend would do?”
Mao Anyi was immediately convinced by his argument.
Actually, she didn’t need his explanation; with her intelligence, a little thought was enough to understand what had happened.
She just didn’t want to accept that a friend she got along with so well would scheme against her with strangers.
Seeing her spirits deflate, Tang Feng didn’t know how to comfort her.
This was something she had to come to terms with on her own.
Noticing that time was about right, he stood up and began removing the silver needles one by one.
Watching the scene, Mao Anyi felt utterly humiliated.
Even though she knew he was rescuing her and she was still in her underwear, not completely exposed, being observed so closely by a man was something she found hard to accept.
After Tang Feng had removed all the silver needles and disposed of them in the trash, he turned to her with a smile, “The toxins in your body have been expelled, but you might still experience some nausea and dizziness. Get some good sleep, and you’ll feel fine when you wake up.”
“Mm, thank you,” Mao Anyi suppressed her embarrassment and softly expressed her gratitude.
“I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be going now,” said Tang Feng, heading towards the door.
He had barely taken two steps when he suddenly turned back, “Um… Miss Mao, actually, I’m a fan of yours. Could you give me an autograph?”
“Huh?” Mao Anyi was taken aback, really wanting to ask, “Do you think it’s appropriate to ask for an autograph in these circumstances?”
Nevertheless, she held back, “I don’t have a pen…”
“I brought one.”
Tang Feng magically produced an eyebrow pencil from his pocket, which he had grabbed from the car on a whim, probably belonging to Qin Yanan for her makeup touch-ups in the car.
“Then… where should I sign?” Mao Anyi reluctantly took the pencil.
Having looked around and found no paper, Tang Feng took off his suit jacket and presented the back to her, “Sign on my back.”
His white shirt underneath served as a perfect autograph board.
This was Mao Anyi’s first encounter with such an odd fan, so she propped herself up and signed her name on his back.
Tang Feng, thoroughly pleased with himself, put his jacket back on, “Now, you rest up. I’ll be leaving.”
“Wait a minute,” Mao Anyi called out to him as he was leaving.
“Is there something else?” Tang Feng looked at her puzzled.
“Can I add you on WeChat?” Mao Anyi’s large eyes blinked at him.
“Oh… Of course.”
Tang Feng subconsciously touched his cheek.
Could it be that Miss. Mao, the prominent host, was already conquered by his handsome appearance, and planning to start a complicated love-hate saga with him?
Indeed, being too attractive can really attract all sorts of attention.
