Chapter 43: A Feeling He Had Never Experienced Before
“Have you finished knitting it?” he asked, looking down at her as he walked toward the sofa.
“Yep, see if you like it!” Noticing him, Song Wenxin put down what she had been knitting and swiftly handed him the grey scarf.
Taking the scarf from her, he frowned and looked at it with disdain, saying, “It’s ugly.”
In his memory, he had never used something like this.
This was his very first scarf, and Song Wenxin was the first person to knit him a scarf!
Stung by his words, Song Wenxin felt infuriated and was about to spew blood on him.
She had spent the entire day knitting that scarf for him, only to have him ridicule it, saying that it was ugly…
She was emotionally drained.
“Okay, don’t take it, then!” she retorted angrily, reaching out to pick up the scarf. However, the tall and lanky Jiang Beihan had raised his arms, holding the scarf high above his head.
Leaving Song Wenxin struggling a couple of times to retrieve the scarf without succeeding!
“You just said that it was ugly, so give it back to me!” she seethed silently.
Since he had said that it was ugly, why was he refusing to give it back to her?!
Glaring at her, Jiang Beihan said scornfully, “It’s mine now!” Then, he draped the scarf around his neck.
Since she had given this thing to him, it was now rightfully his. She had no right to want to take it back.
Speechless, Song Wenxin looked at him. “Have you never worn a scarf before?” She took one look at how the scarf had been draped around his neck and could not resist asking.
“No,” lowering his eyes to look at the very long scarf hanging around his neck, Jiang Beihan replied mildly.
No one had ever knitted him a scarf!
“No wonder…” Song Wenxin remarked, a look of comprehension spreading across her face.
“No wonder?” Jiang Beihan asked, deep furrows forming on his forehead.
What did she mean by “no wonder”?
“It’s no wonder that you don’t even know how to wear a scarf properly!” she replied in exasperation, looking at the casual way the scarf was hanging around his neck.
Worn that way, it would have made him look chic and smart. However, it would not serve the purpose of keeping him warm!
Jiang Beihan’s aloof eyes flashed as his emotionless face darkened. Was she belittling him?
“You help me wear it, then!” he suddenly commanded as he lowered his eyes to look at her.
“Okay. Let me teach you how to wear a scarf properly so that it would keep you warm.” At his command, Song Wenxin nodded and, without a thought, walked closer to him
Stopping in front of him, she extended her hands and reached out to adjust the scarf around his neck.
Although it was just a simple act of draping the scarf, Song Wenxin carried out the task very meticulously and patiently.
Watching her work so carefully, Jiang Beihan’s eyes flickered.
Lowering his head, he was suddenly hit with an urge to kiss her, and, responding to that urge, he lowered his head slowly.
“Okay, that’s done. It’s very simple, so you should be able to do this yourself going forward.” At that moment, Song Wenxin suddenly took a step back to look at the way the scarf had been wound around his neck, nodding with satisfaction.
Her method of draping the scarf would not only keep him warm but also would not compromise on the need to look chic and smart!
The male models in some of the fashion magazines also wore their scarves this way.
…
Her sudden retreat had made Jiang Beihan, who was just about to kiss her, flush in embarrassment.
Jiang Beihan lowered his head to look at the scarf draped around his neck and reached up to feel it. This was the scarf that Song Wenxin had personally knitted, stitch by stitch, for him.
It did not feel very soft to the touch, but it also gave him an unfamiliar feeling of warmth…
And that warm feeling was not just felt at his fingertips… it appeared that his heart was touched by something that warmed him up somewhat.
This was a feeling that he had never experienced before.
