Chapter 55: Did You Think My Memory Was that Bad?
Jiang Beihan, having seen through her ploy, gave a curt laugh and said pointedly, “There’s a washroom right here in this suite.” Was she planning to take the opportunity to sneak out of the room?
“Oh, oh… I didn’t realize there was one.” Song Wenxin smiled in embarrassment. Earlier on, she had just grasped at that excuse, but, obviously, Jiang Beihan was not easily fooled.
“But my stomach ache is gone now. I’m just a little thirsty. Can I go and get something to drink, please?” Song Wenxin asked, having scanned the room and noting that there were no water glasses or beverages of any sort. Surely this excuse would be a valid one?
Song Wenxin had barely finished making her case when Jiang Beihan’s phone suddenly rang. Giving Song Wenxin a quick glance, he answered the call.
Sizing up the situation, Song Wenxin decided to interpret it as an approval to proceed, taking advantage of the fact that he was still on the phone to sneak out of the suite.
The launch venue was buzzing with activity. On the runway, a well-built male model, standing at more than 1.8 meters, was showing off one of DL’s latest winter wear for the year!
Seated around the runway and enjoying the display were many celebrities, esteemed guests, and business people.
And also, some press photographers were assigned to capture the launch. It was truly a scene packed with excitement and activity.
Because all the invited guests had their allotted seats, and the back rows were already packed with people from the press, Song Wenxin had to squeeze through the aisle for a better view of the show.
Throughout the show, she was completely focused on the clothes worn by the male models. Every piece of clothing was perfectly designed.
After a round of new products had been displayed, the designer of the clothes would appear on stage, surrounded by the models.
A woman of mixed race, clad in a long, black dress with a head of curly hair reaching down to her waist, holding on to the arm of a tall and good-looking male model, strolled onto the stage to the tune of the soothing music that was being played.
The entire venue erupted into a ripple of commotion.
Song Wenxin recognized that mixed-race fashion designer as Sally, the famous designer employed by DL.
She had appeared in several magazines and on television. Song Wenxin was very much in awe of her talent for fashion design and liked her designs very much.
Most of the products featured in this launch had been designed by her.
As she watched Sally, the unbeatable shining star of fashion design on stage, Song Wenxin’s eyes emitted, uncontrollably, an expectant yearning.
What followed next was the display of clothes designed by the other designers.
Just when Song Wenxin was entranced by the fashion show, a lyrical male voice sounded elegantly from behind her. “Miss, you’re blocking the aisle.”
Startled out of her trance, Song Wenxin immediately apologized and stood aside, giving him room to pass through.
“Sorry.”
But the other party showed no intention of passing through.
Surprised, Song Wenxin turned around and looked at the other party, baffled. When she saw who it was, she almost jumped out of her skin.
He was none other than Qiao Zezhi, who had returned from his trip to the bathroom.
“It’s you?” Qiao Zezhi was surprised to see that the girl in front of him, Song Wenxin, was the same girl who had fought with him over a tie at the store the day before, not budging an inch.
“You’ve got the wrong person.” Song Wenxin laughed in embarrassment, lowering her head quickly. At that moment, all she wanted was to find a hole and hide in it.
She had been rude and had offended him yesterday. What a coincidence that she had bumped into him again today.
“Wrong person? Do you think my memory is so bad?” Qiao Zezhi laughed abruptly. What had happened the day prior was deeply etched in his memory, so how could he have been mistaken?
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Song Wenxin replied, clutching the collars of her jacket, trying awkwardly to hide her lower face and hoping naively that he would not recognize her.
