Chapter 57: Absolutely No Need!
Jiang Beihan did not seem to register what she had said and did not react at all, not even raising his eyes to look at her.
Unexpectedly though, as she was about to take her first step, the woman’s leg suddenly twisted, and she screamed as she lost her balance and fell forward, straight into Jiang Beihan’s arms.
Jiang Beihan frowned as, subconsciously, he lifted an arm and caught her.
And that was how Sally literally fell into Jiang Beihan’s arms, her eyes radiating waves of triumph. The reason why men showed no romantic interest in women was that they had not met one who was good enough for them.
…
At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open by someone.
Song Wenxin, holding a bottle half-filled with mineral water, walked in from outside.
When she saw the scene in the room, she stopped and froze in shock.
What’s with this scenario?
What shocked her, even more, was that the woman in Jiang Beihan’s arms was, in fact, the famous fashion designer, Sally.
Song Wenxin stood rooted to the floor, eyes wide open and a little dazed.
Didn’t he prefer men? If so, then what was this scene that she was witnessing?
“Um… I need to attend to something, so I will leave now,” she said, giving a quick, humorless laugh before she turned to open the door and leave the room.
Jiang Beihan’s expression turned icy, irritation piling up instantly in his heart.
Darn it, what did she mean by that?
She had not been even a little upset by what she had seen and had voluntarily given him and that woman space to do whatever they wanted?
He did not want her to be so considerate; there was absolutely no need for that!
…
Sally had also noticed Song Wenxin but had not given her much notice, assuming that she was one of the staff members.
“Mr. Jiang, thank you so much.” She smiled shyly at Jiang Beihan and was about to reach out to touch Jiang Beihan on his chest when he spoke up suddenly.
“You’re standing in my way.” Jiang Beihan looked emotionlessly at the woman in his arms, eyes cold.
Sally’s smile froze up instantly.
What?
In the next instant, Sally was shoved aside by Jiang Beihan and fell directly onto the floor with a loud thud.
Watching the scene unfold, Song Wenxin felt Sally’s pain…
She looked at Jiang Beihan, now seated on the sofa without a trace of emotion on his face, and could not help lamenting that he probably had no idea whatsoever about showing care and compassion to his admirer!
But that should be a good assumption since he would only be gentle with Shangguan, no?
Song Wenxin sighed and walked slowly toward Sally. Bending at the waist, she extended her hand toward Sally and asked in a concerned voice.
“Are you all right?” Song Wenxin asked, giving Sally a look of pity. She was free to like whoever she wanted, but she had to fall for one who preferred men.
Although, this man was clearly an excellent catch.
Falling for a man like this meant that she was destined to get hurt.
Sally glanced at Song Wenxin but had no intention of accepting her offer of help.
Was she mocking her?
Gritting her teeth, Sally rubbed her knees that were bruised from the fall and, using her own strength, she crawled up slowly from the floor and stood upright.
Sussing up the situation, Song Wenxin quickly retracted her hand.
“My apologies, Mr. Jiang. I lost my balance earlier,” Sally began, smiling in agony as she pulled herself into a standing position, looking at Jiang Beihan in embarrassment.
But Jiang Beihan did not even look at her and, instead, looked directly at Song Wenxin, asking, “Did you have to take that long to get a drink of water?”
“There were too many people outside. It took me a long time to find the water.”
