Chapter 59: Song Wenxin, Don’t You Dare!
What was that? Since this was her first time being a wife and, on top of that, just a wife in name only, she had no idea what to do.
Song Wenxin looked at him, extremely puzzled.
For a regular married couple, if the wife were to witness her husband behaving suspiciously intimately with another woman, she would be very upset, break down totally, go crazy with anguish or immediately charge forward and… beat up the mistress?
At that thought, Song Wenxin suddenly understood what he had been alluding to.
What he meant was that he wanted her to shield him from all those women?
“Next time, if something like this happens again, I will definitely help you send them away!” Song Wenxin replied after having given it some thought.
That said, she could not help feeling caught in a helpless situation—that he should expect her, his wife in name only, to do so many things.
Like knitting scarves for him and chasing away the women who were scheming to entrap him.
However, on second thought, she realized that he had also done a lot for her—helping her resolve that trap set up by the Shen’s and taking her to the launch. That balanced it all out somewhat, she conceded.
Having heard her response, Jiang Beihan seemed to be satisfied.
At least she was able to pick up on innuendos.
…
After the launch had ended, Jiang Beihan and Song Wenxin left the hotel, again through the back door.
Riding home in Jiang Beihan’s car, Song Wenxin’s eagle eye caught sight of a shop located on one of the clusters of alleys that the car was driving past. It was a small shop that sold yarn for weaving and knitting.
“Driver, please stop the car here.”
“All right,” the driver responded, stopping the car by the side of the road.
Frowning, Jiang Beihan looked at Song Wenxin, slightly puzzled.
“I’m going to buy some yarn!”
She was running out of the yarn that she had bought earlier, so she needed to buy some more.
Song Wenxin pushed open the car door and alighted, walking promptly around to the other side of the car and knocking on the window.
Jiang Beihan wound down the window and glared at her through his dark eyes.
“Why don’t you come with me?” she suggested to Jiang Beihan, who was still in the car.
She wanted to buy yarn to knit him something. So, since he was here, he should go with her to choose the color that he wanted.
Otherwise, he might complain that what she had knitted him was ugly.
Frowning, Jiang Beihan glanced at the run-down, even slightly dilapidated little shop by the roadside, disdain written all over his cool, handsome face.
“Have you been knitting scarves for me with yarn bought from places like this one?” he asked, sounding displeased.
“What’s wrong with this place?” Turning around to look at the little shop, Song Wenxin asked, not understanding what he was alluding to.
“It’s too shabby!” Barely moving his lips, Jiang Beihan spat out the jeering words tersely.
Song Wenxin just looked at him, lost for words.
“In what way is it shabby? I think it’s pretty good!”
Not everyone was like him, living at the top of the social food chain, enjoying the best that money could buy.
For someone ordinary like her, this type of shop did not seem shabby at all.
“Are you coming or not? If not, I will just pick any color for you!” Seeing his reluctance to join her, Song Wenxin threatened in exasperation.
At that, Jiang Beihan, his expression serious, frowned and gave her instructions in a stern voice.
“You are not to buy me anything in red!”
Just one look at her expression and he knew that she was up to no good.
“Then I’ll buy you something in pink!” Song Wenxin winked and announced playfully.
Since she was not allowed to buy red, she would buy pink, then!
As expected, Jiang Beihan’s expression became exceptionally annoyed when he heard her response.
“Song Wenxin, don’t you dare!”
When had she ever seen a grown man in a pink sweater?
Hearing him, Song Wenxin did not respond but, in her heart, silently replied that of course, she wouldn’t dare.
