EXTRA 3: Short Extras About Li Wuding’s Original Ending.
1.
Li Wuding was a traitor, who abandoned his country in the end.
However, future generations will not remember this fact.
Not only will this fact be forgotten, but people will even sing his praises. Such as: ‘There used to be a wise General, who defied the tyranny of his country. He abandoned the darkness and walked towards the light, building a prosperous land alongside the Great Monarch, Yan HeQing.’
That way, this fact was forgotten:
‘In the dilapidated Northern Kingdom, there was once a group of Officials and soldiers that carried the faith of the country on their shoulders, serving the Emperor with iron bones and blood.’
This one is history.
While the other became the biography written by future generations.
2.
After Yan HeQing unified the Four Kingdoms and established the Capital in the North, Li Wuding also settled down in the North. After settling down, the first decision Li Wuding made was to buy a long abandoned Mansion in the Imperial City.
That Mansion originally belonged to the Xie Family. When the Northern Kingdom was conquered, the Xie Family had survived. But in the end, every member of the family hanged themselves in the mansion. Everyone felt that the Mansion was filled with too much resentment, so no one dared to purchase it, leaving it abandoned for many years.
After Li Wuding bought it, he buried the whole Xie family on the Mansion’s land. Then, he would invite people into the Mansion, requesting that they spend the rest of their lives repairing it in exchange for meals.
However, Li Wuding never stepped inside that Mansion for the rest of his life.
3.
Li Wuding was a well-known founding General, who held half of the Military power in his hands. This formidable General, who would hold great power and authority with a smile on his face, never married a wife.
Without a wife, naturally, there were no children. For the rest of his life, he lived alone.
So, when he caught a serious disease at the age of 45, and had to stay in bed all the time, there was not a single blood relative beside him.
However, this didn’t mean that he was alone on his sickbed. After all, he was a great General. He had a lot of good Xiongdi and friends who would visit him every day, turning his residence into a lively place. There were countless people who cared about him.
But, in the end, the disease took away the legendary General’s life.
When Li Wuding was on his deathbed, a Historian decided to write the General’s biography.
The Historian wanted to let future generations know how the General brought the bright days and clear water to this dirty part of the world.
When Li Wuding heard of such a thing, he sent someone to invite the Historian to his residence. Li Wuding wanted to ask the Historian to add a person in his biography.
The Historian had said: “Of course, it’s my pleasure. But, I just don’t know who the General wants to mention?”
”
”
Li Wuding stared at his own sickbed, mumbled for a long time, and finally said: “Xie Chungui.”
The Historian was puzzled: “Who is this?”
“He was the last proud backbone of the defeated Northern Kingdom. The blood, tears and earnest efforts made by a group of soldiers.”
Future generations wouldn’t remember this.
History wouldn’t remember it either.
But there was one person who did remember.
