Chapter 46: A Really Bad Start

Witnessing the indignant protests of the entire department, Yan Susu felt guilty. Her forehead was covered in sweat.

“Sir, I am just a new hire. Letting me lead a team now would not be appropriate. Please reconsider.”

Although she had specialized in advertising design and had been the head of the advertising department at Ling Enterprise, she knew that the advertising department at Ling Enterprise was nothing in comparison with Dihuang’s advertising department.

Never mind the role of team leader, with just her experience, it wouldn’t even be considered a skills mismatch if Dihuang took her in as a lowly assistant.

“It has already been decided. Get back to work, everyone.” The manager stood firm and refused to budge on his decision. He then turned to Yan Susu, as eager to please as ever, and said, “Your seat is over there. Let me show you the way.”

The blatant injustice roused further dissatisfaction in the department. Since they couldn’t take it out on the manager, they all vented their anger at Yan Susu.

“Wow, it looks like someone is backed by a higher-up. Leapfrogging to a team leader role from the entry level! Quite an appetite for the big-time.”

“Even so, a big appetite must be complemented by effective digestion, otherwise it very quickly leads to death by choking!”

At that, everyone laughed loudly.

Yan Susu sighed involuntarily.

In school, she had been the target of many girls who were envious of her relationship with Ling Xiusi. He was handsome, rich, and gentle, attending to her every whim. He had eyes only for her. The other girls avoided her while her male classmates never dared approach her thanks to their inferiority complexes.

At Ling Enterprise, Ling Xiusi had been indiscriminate in taking her to every and any business event, never once paying attention to her feelings or the opinion of the people around them. That was why every woman in the company had hated her, thinking that she had sold her body to get where she was, and the men despised her for the same reason.

She had assumed that now, in a new environment, she would be able to get along with her colleagues and be rid of the loneliness that she’d borne for so long. Unfortunately, she had managed to offend just about everyone before noon on her first day at work.

She feared that the days ahead would not be a walk in the park.

At that thought, she laughed bitterly.

It would appear that she had been born with the ability to keep people at arm’s length. Regardless of where she went, she would always quickly become the target of hatred and stigma.

“Hey, big-timer, since you’ve been parachuted into the role of team leader, you must be highly capable. What are your thoughts on this season’s ads?”

Shocked, Yan Susu saw the taunting look on Su Luoqi’s face and asked, “What is this season’s advertisement about?”

“I was wondering where we had poached this talent from. Goodness, she’s not even aware of Dihuang’s advertising plan for this season!” Su Luoqi remarked, breaking into loud laughter.

In reality, the advertising theme for the season had not been confirmed. She was just trying deliberately to humiliate Yan Susu.

Everyone joined her in laughter. “Su Luoqi, stop embarrassing her. She’s not just all talk and no action.”

“How would you guys know that she doesn’t have the gift of gab?”

Everyone hooted in laughter at the insinuation in those words.

Yan Susu flushed a deep red but, knowing that she did not have a leg to stand on, did not fight back.

Arrogantly, Su Luoqi stuck out her chin and looked condescendingly at Yan Susu. “Call me Senior, and I’ll tell you.”

“Senior.” Without hesitation, Yan Susu addressed her deferentially. It was true that all these people were in fact her seniors, so she did not find it beneath her at all.

Although natural talent was a prerequisite for an advertiser, experience was even more critical. To an advertiser, experience was highly valued, and there was no substitute.

“Hahaha, she really did it. Is she totally brain-dead?” Su Luoqi rocked back and forth in laughter.

She was deliberately playing her, yet she had obliged? Could this woman be not only flat-chested but stupid as well?

Everyone laughed heartily at Su Luoqi’s words.

Yan Susu flushed deeper. Taking a deep breath, she tried her best to calm down.

“I know that I don’t have the experience to be a team leader. I don’t know why the manager gave me this role, either. However, I will do my utmost to learn and grow into the role as soon as possible and to earn my position and salary. I hope that you will stop making these derogatory insinuations and sarcastic attacks.”

“Because you made the manager happy. We could tell from just one look at the manager’s face exactly how capable you are. Tsk, tsk…” Su Luoqi spoke in a very loud voice, as though she was relating a fact.

The others laughed boisterously, slapping their desks.

Yan Susu picked up a glass of water and threw it into Su Luoqi’s face.

The raucous laughter stopped immediately.
