Chapter 55: Caught Between Father and Son

The family of three, with their good looks and elegant demeanor, attracted plenty of attention in the store.

“Wow, that family looks so blissful.”

“Are they movie stars? Are they filming a program about family? Everyone in that family is so good-looking. Do we know which station this program is being shot for? I must go watch!”

“Me too, me too! The father is so alluringly handsome, and that kid so irresistibly adorable. Oh, how I wish I could be transformed into that woman!”

The endless stream of words of admiration, jealousy, and envious hate made Lu Xingguang beam with pride. His chin stuck out so high it had almost touched the sky.

Blushing even deeper, Yan Susu tried once again to get away from Lu Zhanxiu’s grip, but her movement coincided with him asking in a crisp tone, “This too?”

“Yep.” Without even looking, Yan Susu said yes reflexively.

Giving her a quick glance, Lu Zhanxiu said mildly, “Now I know why you have been so flushed. You’ve got your period.”

It was then that Yan Sus noticed the packet in his hand. It was actually…a packet of “bread?”

This time, her blush had spread not only to her neck but also to her ears.

That man must have done this on purpose. When did she say that she wanted to buy “bread?” And what did menstruation have to do with her face being flushed?

But Lu Zhanxiu’s act had earned him the eternal adoration of the women who had been watching them.

“OMG, that man even remembers his wife’s periods and buys “bread” for his wife in public. They don’t make husbands like him anymore!”

“I wish I could have a husband just like him!”

Lu Xingguang became jealous when he heard the numerous compliments being piled on Lu Zhanxiu. Tugging at Yan Susu’s hand, he said loudly, “Honey, I want that!”

Picking up the packet of sugared ginger, a surprised Yan Susu asked Lu Xingguang, “What do you want this for?”

Smiling very considerately, Lu Xingguang replied, “Honey, you should eat this so that your tummy won’t hurt.”

Yan Susu was speechless.

But she didn’t have a stomach ache…

Oh my word, how did Lu Xingguang know that menstruation could cause stomach aches?

How could a six-year-old child know something that advanced?

She was now well and truly confused.

But then, this caused another ripple of excitement among the women watching them.

“OMG, so young and so considerate. I could die with no regrets if I had a son like that.”

“Where did this little angel come from? I want to hug him tight and love him to bits.”

Yan Susu was dumbstruck.

Lu Zhanxiu was speechless, too.

Lu Xingguang looked gleefully at his father, as if to say, “See? I am a lot more popular than you, so Honey will surely be mine!”

Lu Zhanxiu looked frostily at him, picked up a hot water bottle, and threw it into the shopping cart, saying, “Use this when I am not around to hold you; that way your stomach won’t get cold.”

Yan Susu didn’t know what to say. She wasn’t even having her period!

The considerate behavior once again caused the other women to swoon and shriek in envy.

All that their boyfriends would do was to get them to drink a lot of hot water, then drink more hot water. Enough about the hot water! Now, this was how it should be done!

“Honey, I’ll massage your tummy when we get home. That will ease the pain.” Lu Xingguang chimed in, not wanting to lose out.

He was definitely not going to let his father get more public attention than him. Otherwise, Honey would assume that his father was more popular!

Seeing that Lu Zhanxiu was about to pick something else from the shelf, Yan Susu grabbed his hand and said, “Honey, let’s get the ingredients for our pizza now. Xingguang is starving.”

When Lu Zhanxiu saw the small hand holding tightly to him and heard her calling him Honey in that sweet voice, he stared intently at Yan Susu. The look in his eyes was unfathomable.

It was then that Yan Susu realized what she had done in her moment of panic. She pulled her hand away immediately.

Lu Zhanxiu, as though expecting her reaction, grabbed her hand and held it tightly in his. He then lowered his head and placed a kiss on her lips, saying, “Mrs. Lu is right.”

After that, he kept holding her hand as he began to focus on looking for the ingredients.
