Chapter 56: Mrs. Lu, Are You Scolding Me?
Yan Susu heaved a secret sigh of relief.
Just like that, surrounded by envious onlookers, the family of three selected their ingredients, paid for their purchases, and left.
Lu Zhanxiu didn’t release Yan Susu’s hand even after they had arrived at the house.
When Yan Susu tried to pull her hand away, Lu Zhanxiu shot her an icy glare.
“Um, I need to go make the pizza.”
“OK.” Lu Zhanxiu nodded slightly but continued to hold on to her hand.
“I can’t do that if you don’t let go of my hand.”
“OK.”
“Mr. Lu…”
Lu Zhanxiu’s head shot up, and he stared coldly at Yan Susu, looking slightly reproachful.
Yan Susu hesitated.
What had she done? Why did she feel like she had committed an unforgivable crime?
“Madam, let me do it. You keep Sir company.” Standing at the side of the room, Auntie Tang hid a smile as she offered her help.
The Master was clearly reluctant to let go of the mistress’s hand!
Lu Xingguang, however, had heard Auntie Tang’s offer and immediately cried out, “No! I want to eat pizza made by Honey. If it isn’t made by Honey, I won’t eat dinner tonight.”
At this rate, his Honey would be stolen by Lu Zhanxiu. He would not allow his Honey to get together with Lu Zhanxiu!
“Young Master, my pizza is just as good.” Auntie Tang tried coaxing Lu Xingguang, fearful that he would be punished if he upset the Master.
“No, I only want to eat pizza made by Honey; otherwise, I’ll starve myself!”
Unfazed, Lu Zhanxiu glanced at him and instructed, “No food for him until he ends his hunger strike!”
Knowing that the Master was upset, Auntie Tang became anxious and said, “Sir, the Young Master is still very young…”
“Six is not so young anymore.” Lu Zhanxiu looked at Lu Xingguang with indifference in his eyes, showing no sign of softening his stance.
By the time he was six, he had already begun to learn many types of survival skills.
“Sir…”
“Take the Young Master to his room.”
Although her heart ached for the little boy, Auntie Tang knew that the Master had never had much patience with the Young Master, and he was definitely not indulgent.
The Young Master had acted up quite badly today and had been very unreasonable, upsetting the Master, so she was not surprised that things had ended like this. She just had to wait until the Master had gone to sleep, so she could make some food for the Young Master without his knowledge.
“Lu Zhanxiu, I hate you!” With fiery red eyes, Lu Xingguang looked at his father hatefully, turned around, and ran off.
Instinctively, Yan Susu rose to go after him.
“Don’t go after him.” Lu Zhanxiu gripped her hand tight, not allowing her to move.
“But he looks very upset…” Yan Susu protested anxiously in a low voice, her eyes fixated on the stairs.
“He is upset, but he will be all right in a bit.”
Unable to believe her ears, Yan Susu looked at Lu Zhanxiu accusingly. “He is just a six-year-old child. Don’t you think that you were a tad too cruel to him?”
“This is a cruel world,” Lu Zhanxiu replied indifferently, playing gently with Yan Susu’s soft hands.
Her hands felt a little calloused. Had she done a lot of menial work in the past?
“Exactly my point. In this cruel world, shouldn’t parents give their children a safe and happy environment to grow up in, and protect them from having to face harsh realities too early in life?”
After all, this was just a six-year-old kid who had neither the means nor knowledge of survival!
“The men of the Lu family don’t need that.”
“Ice cold!” Yan Susu shook off Lu Zhanxiu’s hand violently and glared at him. “You are not fit to be a father!”
How could he be so heartless? How could he be so cruel? That was his son, his own flesh and blood. How could he say something so cold-blooded?
With a thunderous look on his face, Lu Zhanxiu shot to his feet, his tall frame towering over Yan Susu. An icy chill emanated from every pore in his body, enough to send shudders down anyone’s spine.
“So Mrs. Lu, are you scolding me?”
