Chapter 8 God’s Blessing (1)
The people outside the carriage were still laughing and crying up a storm. But inside the carriage, it was so quiet that one could hear a pin dropping on the floor.
“Gaia.”
Liu Yu decided to confirm whether her guess was correct or not. Could he really read other people’s minds?
She held Gaia’s hand.
His hand was slightly cool to the touch and he was exuding cold and icy air from his body. She shivered from his cold hand, but she didn’t let go of his hands, instead, she firmly covered her heart with his hand.
“Can you hear what I’m thinking?”
Stupid!
Gaia shook his head.
“I can’t hear what you’re thinking.”
“Try listening to it again.” Liu Yu repeated the word “stupid” multiple times in her mind.
“I still can’t hear anything.”
Gaia shook his head.
His delicate face was filled with confusion.
“Bellia, what were you thinking about? And…what is this?”
The young man’s cold hands suddenly tightened his grip on her hand, Liu Yu let out a soft cry of surprise.
She clenched her teeth and said softly, “I’m thinking, ‘Gaia, you’re really beautiful. I…really like it.’
“Like?”
Gaia looked towards the sky and asked in a gentle voice, “What does the word ‘like’ mean?”
Liu Yu didn’t respond; she was still thinking about Gaia’s ability to read other people’s minds.
“Gaia, can you only hear other people’s wishes and prayers?”
“It seems so.” The young man’s slender eyebrows frowned slightly as he said, “I can still hear something from them even if it’s not their wish, but you…it’s completely quiet.”
Liu Yu, “…”
By now, she was certain.
It didn’t matter if Gaia can read other people’s minds, as long as he can’t read hers.
Perhaps he can’t read her mind because her soul did not belong to this world, or maybe it was because she didn’t believe in God.
It was good as long as he couldn’t hear.
This was good enough.
“Let’s head for the hospital.”
The coachman recovered from his fanatic state and returned to the carriage.
The carriage started moving through the road again.
——————
All the hospitals in the Kingdom of Soro were required to hand a red cross on the spire of the building. As a result, the hospitals were also called the “Red Cross Building.”
The Rover Hospital was the largest hospital in the City of Sauron.
When an old gray carriage pulled up at the hospital, the man inside the carriage immediately noticed the golden iris logo on the Fergus Family on the carriage behind him.
“Tuotai, it’s your turn now.”
“No, no, Lev. I don’t want to be whipped again. Miss Bellia’s whip doesn’t have eyes. She won’t be merciful just because I’m an old acquaintance of hers…”
“Miss Bellia is quite pitiful. Last time, Marquis Mobia’s wife publicly said that no one decent in this world will be willing to marry her! No one! One of the assistants in the hospital said, “I think that many gentlemen would be willing to date Miss Fergus, but none of them will be willing to marry her. After all, Miss Fergus doesn’t have a rich dowry and her mother’s status is too inferior…”
The assistants pushed and pulled each other. None of them were willing to take the initiative to greet her.
Just then, the carriage door to the Fergus Family’s carriage opened from the inside.
The first thing that caught everyone’s eyes was the hand that opened the carriage door. It was so fair that they could almost see the blue blood vessels underneath the skin in the sun. There was a beautiful Japanese rose carved on the ring she was wearing. Then, she caught a strong whiff of a rose fragrance. Liu Yue exited the carriage, still wearing the puffy sleeves and pettiskirt she had on before.
