Chapter 11: Black Domain and Strange Scene

In everyone’s eyes, the tall oak tree was turning white at a visible speed.
Leaves, branches, and its trunk were all turning from brown to a creamy white.
From the crown of the tree to the trunk and to the roots of the tree, the speed at which this white transformation occurred was so fast that it overturned all common sense and knowledge people had.
And during its transformation, the whole oak tree continued to glow.
The gentle and not blinding white light continued to increase in intensity, and the surrounding sky seemed to darken a little.
The changes to the surrounding sky was not a mirage.
The moment the oak tree turned completely white, in a five-kilometer radius around it, a phenomenon beyond everyone’s comprehension was happening in the surrounding sky.
Countless rays of light seemed to form into lines in the sky.
These lines were formed from light. They absorbed light from its surroundings, causing the entire sky to sink into darkness.
Like a creamy white ribbon dancing across the sky, these rays of light floated in the darkness, funnelling and gathering at the oak tree.
The entire oak tree was instantly surrounded by countless dancing lights.
These rays of light twirled around the oak tree forming a white cloud-like halo around it.
The top of the oak tree was like a huge funnel, constantly absorbing the surrounding lights, forming a rare vacuum.
At this moment, the oak tree was the only thing in the entire world emitting light.
It was a scene which was both holy yet scary.
The morning sun was still in the sky but the area within five kilometers of the oak tree had turned into pitch-black darkness.
In everyone’s eyes, the morning sun seemed like a moon in a dark night.
All the light in the surrounding area was absorbed into the oak tree and could not escape.
In the rainforest, all creatures went silent.
Their attention was all on the oak tree above.
Anderson was unable to describe the immense shock and horror he felt in his heart at this moment.
This phenomenon that transcended reality and common sense shattered his worldview and he couldn’t pull himself out of it..
At this moment, in the hearts of Anderson and many others, the gigantic white oak tree was like the incarnation of a god.
They had never entertained the idea that a legend could be so close to them.
They held their breaths and subconsciously maintained their silence, as if speaking out was blasphemy.
They stood rooted to the ground. At this moment, everyone seemed to have forgotten about their own existence. The only thing that existed in their mind and sight was this mysterious tree that made their hearts swell with devotion.
The oak tree continued to suck in the surrounding light.
Time seemed to have frozen at this moment.
Five minutes.
Half an hour.
Two hours.
….
Everyone’s legs were already numb.
Some older people even needed others to support them.
Vanni Campbell, the representative of Armarica, transformed into a devout follower.
She crossed her arms in front of her chest and lowered her head slightly. Her eyes were closed as she silently prayed.
At this moment, even Reid, one of the few non-believers, did not dare to disturb the pilgrimage happening.
Although his expression had eased from the shock, his gaze was vastly different from before.
And he didn’t even know when he started sitting on the ground and that he had been there for such a long time.
An aerial view of the entire rainforest.
With the oak tree as its center, a huge black domain with a diameter of five kilometers was formed.
The entire black domain was a semi-circle which was perpendicular to the ground.
Outside the black domain, light transformed into countless streams of white light as they moved into the domain.
This shocking scene even caused the small town of Buendo ten kilometers away to become rowdy.
Although the population of Buendo was small, it still amounted to 50,000 people.
When these people saw such a large black domain appearing on their sacred land, many became terrified.
Countless people knelt and kowtowed in the direction of the black domain, chanting words of divine punishment as they begged for redemption.
And all of this was just the beginning.
…
Armarica National Nature Park.
It was close to noon. Because it was the weekend, there was still quite a crowd at the park.
On the lawn, many families in Armarica were picnicking under jurupa oak trees.
Sandwiches, red wine and kids were running everywhere. It was a cozy atmosphere.
But in this heartwarming scene.
Within the park, the leaves of hundreds of oak trees started rustling even though there was no wind.
It was even more exaggerated on the spectacular oak tree in the middle of the park which was fenced for its protection because it was 13,000 years old.
The leaves of the tree rustled and swayed, as if happily waving with their branches. It also looked as if they were making a pilgrimage towards the south.
Countless withered leaves fluttered down while numerous curled new leaves rapidly grew and spread out.
Under a tree in the park, a young couple sitting on a long bench was about to kiss.
But at this moment, the oak tree suddenly shook and a large number of leaves fell, instantly breaking the romantic atmosphere between the two.
“Oh gosh, Alf, something is wrong with this oak tree,” Carolla exclaimed as she looked up at the oak tree crown above their heads.
Puzzled, Alf reached out to sweep off a fallen leaf from his head. Then, he looked up at the tree crown too.
The moment he raised his head, he was shocked by the changes in the oak tree above them.
On the oak tree branch less than half a meter above his head, countless leaves were rustling in the absence of wind and he could see with his naked eye several small curled leaf buds growing and unfurling on the branch.
Alf rubbed his eyes and stared blankly at the oak branches.
“Carolla? I think I’m hallucinating.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your eyes, dear, because I am seeing it too.”
The two of them looked at each other in disbelief.
Just as the two of them were staring at each other, the entire park started to fill with exclamations.
“Mommy, Mommy, look! The flower on the oak tree is blooming!”
“Kid, you need to check your facts if you want to lie. Oak trees bloom between April and May. It’s March now.”
A beautiful woman smiled as she spoke to the child who was running over.
“Mommy, I’m not lying. Look, that oak tree is really blooming.”
“Oh? Really?”
The beautiful woman tidied up the utensils on the picnic mat and smiled helplessly before looking to the left where her child was pointing at.
The beautiful woman was momentarily stunned.
That was because, just as her child said, white flowers were continuously blooming on the jade green oak tree.
Moreover, as the oak tree was blooming, the rapidly growing new leaves made the entire tree seem even larger and lusher.
The entire park was instantly filled with noise.
