“Oh yeah, I still don’t know your name. What’s yours? I’m Ma Hongyu.”
In the teahouse, Ma Hongyu talked to Ji Yu enthusiastically.
“Ji Yu, Ji from seasons and Yu from universe,” Ji Yu said after taking a sip of tea.
“Hello, that’s great. Look, I think we’re fated. You’re called Ji Yu and I’m Ma Hongyu. We both have a ‘yu’ in our names. Perhaps we were brothers in our past lives.”
Ma Hongyu was overly friendly.
He had been pestering Ji Yu all along the way, and Ji Yu was rendered speechless by his overt friendliness.
He was humble and enthusiastic. Although a little talkative, it was not annoying.
After all, Ji Yu used to be in charge of renovation budgets. Most of the time, he had to go out to liaise with clients so he was considered a pretty outgoing person.
It was impossible not to be outgoing in that job.
Therefore, Ji Yu’s attitude towards Ma Hongyu wasn’t bad either. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have accepted to go to the teahouse for tea with him.
Along the way, Ma Hongyu’s eyes lit up when he found out that Ji Yu did not run a pet shop and was instead unemployed.
He also said that he had been unemployed for a long time and used to work as a coder at a gaming company.
For some reason, he resigned and stayed unemployed for more than half a year.
Him following Ji Yu was in fact his plan to try to invite him to open a pet store.
“Alright, you’re quite good at talking. Let’s get down to business. Where’s your project plan for the pet store which you’re inviting me to?”
Ji Yu had already been unemployed for four months due to his disease. Previously, he had been taking medicine and undergoing all kinds of checkups each month. Renting a house and eating expenses were not small spendings.
Although he still had about 100,000 RMB on him, now that he had recovered, he needed to think about his real life and find a stable job.
Hearing Ji Yu talk about the pet store, Ma Hongyu stopped beating around the bush.
After pondering for a while, he said, “Brother Ji, this is what I think. I’ll provide the money while you’ll provide your presence. How about we split the profits 50-50?”
“Brother Ji, I’ve seen your charm today. I feel that it’s a given that we will earn money. You are the most valuable resource for this pet shop so I think this is pretty reasonable.”
Ji Yu was stunned. Ma Hongyu’s words did sound reasonable.
However, in reality, Ji Yu had no experience taking care of pets. If he really opened a pet store, he would have to hire other employees to take care of these things.
In that case, the amount of money that Ma Hongyu had to fork out would not be a small sum.
Renting a place, renovating it, buying goods, and hiring employees. Even if the shop was small, the cost would not be low in Dancing Sun City. A million or so was definitely needed.
If that was the case, wouldn’t Ji Yu be getting the better end of the deal?
Ji Yu hated receiving things for no reason. Even though he was a person who could attract customers, he did not like to go everywhere and cause trouble.
Thus, Ji Yu frowned. After thinking for a while, he decided to reject this way of splitting the profits since he would be taking advantage of Ma Hongyu and proposed his suggestion.
However, perhaps seeing Ji Yu’s concern, Ma Hongyu quickly added,
“Brother Ji, from the looks of it, you must think that you are taking advantage of me and probably have other concerns as well. However, I think you should finish listening to me.”
“It’s like this. The store is under my father’s name. There are ten plus shops at Times Square not far from here, so it doesn’t actually cost anything to rent a place.”
“Furthermore, opening the shop is actually a favor for me. After all, I don’t want to work for others anymore.”
“As for my dad’s company? I don’t want to go there either.”
“Brother Ji, you don’t know this, but my dad runs a nightclub. It’s quite troublesome to have to drink with others, form social connections, and so on inside there. At first, I worked there as a receptionist manager for two months and frankly speaking, it didn’t feel like a job made for humans.”
“Anyway, I have no plans to go back either way. Also, I don’t want to be a slaving coder anymore. It’s not like I haven’t tried starting my own company before but the ones I start just don’t work out. I understand that I’m not suited to be a boss.”
“I know my limits, which is why I’m meeting Brother Ji now. Hehe.”
Ma Hongyu smiled slyly, with an expression of ‘you know that right?’.
It was hard to tell that he was actually a rich second-generation heir!
Ji Yu was a little green with envy.
It turned out that Ma Hongyu did not care about this bit of money at all. The reason why he wanted Jiyu to open a pet store was because of the pressure from his parents.
After all, he was a rich second-generation heir who could do anything. Even so, he couldn’t possibly just waste away every day, right?
It was not as if Ji Yu did not know many big bosses when he was doing budgetary work. Most of their children were actually quite good, and they were not as useless as what most novels depicted them as.
On the contrary, many of them were easy to get along with and actively followed their parents to learn about the business.
“So, that’s what you wanted to say and why you feel that the 50-50 split is very reasonable,” Ji Yu confirmed in response.
“Yeah,” Ma Hongyu said matter-of-factly.
Alright then. Ji Yu could tell that Ma Hongyu really did not know how to do business.
Forget it. Since Ji Yu was willing to accept and he was willing to give, he decided to take the chance thrown at him. After all, his tiny bit of money was insignificant in the face of opening a pet store.
However, Ji Yu had his own principles.
Therefore, Ji Yu pondered for a moment before saying to Ma Hongyu, whose face was full of anticipation,
“We can open a store and you can pay for it, but we need to change the way we split our profits.”
“You get 70% of the profits while I get 30%.”
Ma Hongyu was bewildered. This was the first time he met someone like Ji Yu who wouldn’t take advantage of others.
“Eh, isn’t that too little? Brother Ji, why don’t you take 40% while I take 60%?”
Ji Yu felt a little exasperated talking with Ma Hongyu.
“Alright, stop talking about the profit split. It’s decided that you will get 70% while I get 30%.”
“I won’t be able to do much when this pet shop opens. You’ll have to settle the manpower and resource issues. Just based on that, I’m actually already getting the better end of the deal.”
“So, let’s settle it this way!”
Ji Yu looked at Ma Hongyu as if there was no need for further discussion.
Ma Hongyu was stunned for a moment and didn’t know how to refute. In the end, he said, “Alright! Since Brother Ji has already said so, if I continue to feel conflicted about it, it will make me seem a little austere.”
With that said, Ma Hongyu revealed a relaxed expression, as if a weight on his heart had been lifted.
“Hehe, with this, I can finally stop being nagged by my parents.”
“When I earn money, I must show off in front of them. But before that, I will hide this from them.”
Thinking of what could happen in the future, Ma Hongyu was so excited that he couldn’t control himself.
Ji Yu was speechless. This Ma Hongyu was really too excitable. To put it bluntly, he had a screw loose.
To be honest, if he had not met him, Ji Yu felt that this fellow would probably only be able to inherit his family assets to survive till old.
This guy really didn’t know how blessed he was.
Ji Yu smiled and did not express any opinion about Ma Hongyu and his family.
After that, the two of them began to talk about the details of opening the store and looked up online about the requirements for opening a pet store.
