Chapter 34: Lucky Star Pet Store

When he sat up from his bed again, it was already bright outside.

Taking out his phone, Ji Yu saw many messages.

All of these messages were sent by Ma Hongyu.

“Brother Ji, are you awake?”

“Brother Ji?”

“Brother Ji, if you’re awake, come to Times Square to take a look. The two employees I hired online yesterday have already arrived for the interview. Do you think that they’re suited for the role?”

After reading the messages, Ji Yu stretched and put down his phone before walking to the bathroom.

He brushed his teeth, washed his face, and changed his clothes all in one go.

By the time Ji Yu went downstairs, it was already 11.30 am.

As soon as he got off the elevator, a slightly excited snow-white dog came up to him.

The dog wagged its tail excitedly and kept circling around Ji Yu’s feet.

Stunned, Ji Yu looked around the first floor lobby and immediately saw Ma Hongyu, who was sitting on the sofa on the left playing games.

Looking at how focused he was, there was no trace of the urgency which he had when he sent the text messages.

Ji Yu picked up the Pekingese and walked towards Ma Hongyu with an exasperated smile.

When Ji Yu walked to Ma Hongyu’s side, Ma Hongyu didn’t notice him as he was still in the game pushing for objectives with his teammates.

Ji Yu did not disturb him and simply stood beside him as he watched him play.

In the past, when he played games, Ji Yu hated people who would suddenly disconnect and not come back. Therefore, putting himself in their shoes, he wouldn’t be the kind of person who would make his friends leave while they were in game.

About three minutes later.

When the game ended, Ji Yu spoke.

“Let’s go for lunch.”

“Hm?”

Ma Hongyu looked up in a daze, only then realizing that Ji Yu was already standing beside him.

Ma Hongyu immediately reacted and replied,

“Brother Ji, you’re finally awake. Come, let’s go to the shop first. It’s fine to eat later but it’s not nice to let the two ladies who are coming for the interview to wait for too long.”

With that, Ma Hongyu stood up.

“Ladies? Two of them?”

“That’s right. For pet stores, hiring female employees is definitely better.”

“Girls are better. First of all, they are more attentive than men. Secondly, hehe, since Brother Ji is still single, I took that into consideration as well.”

Ma Hongyu gave Ji Yu a knowing look.

“How is it, Brother Ji? Am I a good friend?”

Seeing Ma Hongyu’s sly look, Ji Yu chuckled.

“For me? I think it’s more for yourself.”

“Aiyah, we’re friends. It’s the same, there’s no difference.”

Ma Hongyu laughed and urged Ji Yu to move along.

“Let’s go. Brother Ji, hurry up. My car is parked outside. Let’s go over and take a look first. Those two ladies have been waiting for almost an hour and a half. If we don’t go over now, I’m afraid they’ll run away.”

“Mm, sure.”

Ji Yu smiled and followed Ma Hongyu out of the lobby.

“Qiaoqian, do you think this shop is reliable? Why does the Boss Ma from just now give me the feeling that it is not?”

Zhou Xin looked at Wang Qiaoqian who was a year older than her and looked a little reluctant.

“It does feel a little unreliable, but that’s alright. After all, Ma Hongyu doesn’t look like someone who lacks money.”

“As long as he doesn’t lack money, our job might be more stable.”

Wang Qiaoqian stood at the entrance of the pet shop and looked at the bustling crowd at Times Square.

“That’s true. After all, for a pet shop to be opened in Times Square, the rent was probably insanely high.”

“Do you really think a pet shop can make money here?”

Zhou Xin pulled a stool over and sat at the entrance of the pet shop.

At this moment, the Lucky Star Pet Store was completely empty. Since it had just been renovated and cleaned, the smell of paint could still be smelled in the air.

Supporting her head with both hands, Zhou Xin looked bored as she watched the crowd.

“I wonder if this Young Master Ma opened this store as a hobby. If it’s just because of an interest, then this shop probably wouldn’t be as stable as you think.”

“What a pity. I was hoping for the new pet shop owner to be a handsome guy, but it turned out to be a fatty. Sigh.”

“Handsome guy?” Wang Qiaoqian lit up in delight.

“Why? Xinxin, do you still want to marry a rich young master and become a rich wife?”

With that, the two of them had to find a new job.

After half a month, they finally found this new store which was jointly opened by Ma Hongyu and Ji Yu.

“It’s not nice to judge a book by its cover. I feel that although Ma Hongyu is not good at filtering his words, he’s not scheming. Besides, he’s still young, so there won’t be much of a generation gap between us. I don’t think there will be too much trouble at work in the future.”

Wang Qiaoqian smiled as she analyzed her first impression of Ma Hongyu.

“Well, that’s true too.”

Zhou Xin nodded. However, she quickly thought of something and immediately said,

“Oh right, didn’t Ma Hongyu say that there’s another boss at this shop? We would need his approval before we can start work.”

“Hey, Qiaoqian, do you think the other boss will be a handsome guy? For him to work with someone like Ma Hongyu who drives a luxury car, he must be rich, right?”
