Chapter 502: 508
Not that simple?
Yang Zhen was taken aback, looking curiously at Elder Qian, asking, “What makes it not that simple?”
Elder Qian took a deep breath, didn’t speak, but fell into deep thought.
The crowd looked at each other, baffled by Elder Qian’s sudden change in expression.
The Thousand-Spirit Saintess suddenly gasped, speaking, “Elder Qian, do you believe that this black puppet might have something to do with the Black Pool?”
Upon hearing the words ‘Black Pool’, anyone with memories of the Sealed Land trembled, their faces revealed an obvious apprehension, clearly they were still shaken by it.
Yang Zhen became interested, with the cat on his shoulder, he asked, “What’s this Black Pool?”
Elder Qian looked solemnly at Yang Zhen and said, “Do you recall Lu Qiju?”
“Old Ghost Lu?” Yang Zhen looked at Elder Qian in surprise, and nodded, “Of course, didn’t you kill him?”
Elder Qian nodded, and asked, “Do you know why I had to kill him?”
Yang Zhen hesitated a bit and replied, “Because he… went mad?”
On hearing this, the survivors from the sealed land looked at each other, while Elder Qian smiled bitterly. He nodded and shook his head saying, “Yes, he went mad, but not quite.”
“What on earth happened?” Yang Zhen suddenly had a headache. It would have been so much easier if they simply rolled up their sleeves and got into action, rather than dealing with all these complications.
Originally the journey into Mobei was just to retrieve the Desolate Heavenly True Pattern. But now, hordes of Death Zy appeared, followed by grand enchantments left by ancient sages, and then mentions of sealed lands and the Desolate Heavenly Rites—it was never-ending.
This Black Puppet Divine Transformation Stage powerhouse recklessly charged into the Sealed Land, they were clearly not in a state of madness like Old Ghost Lu. There must be something attracting them to act so recklessly.
And what about the fleeing Black Puppets after the Desolate Heavenly Rites outbreak? What exactly happened inside the Sealed Land?
Although Yang Zhen felt a headache coming, he could vaguely sense that the words that Elder Qian was about to utter next might be the key to unravelling the secret of the Mobei Abyss.
Elder Qian looked around at the curious crowd and began, “After we got trapped in the Sealed Land, we soon found a Black Pool. This Black Pool…”
Yang Zhen could feel that every time the Black Pool was mentioned, the survivors from the Sealed Land showed a disruption in their aura. Clearly, the Black Pool had an extraordinary impact on them.
However, Elder Qian then shifted the topic. Not talking about the Black Pool, he continued, “Before coming to Mobei Abyss, there were rumors that it contains an Emperor’s heritage, which is actually not true…”
Yang Zhen felt a bit guilty when he heard those words. What did he mean it wasn’t true? He’d be damned if there was really an Emperor’s heritage in there. The rumor about the Emperor’s heritage in Mobei Abyss was entirely spread by Yang Zhen himself. Damned if these people were too gullible.
But it was little wonder. It was probably not so much that the people were easily deceived, as it was due to the weirdness of Mobei Abyss. Before anyone had ever set foot there, they would all accept and reject whatever was rumored.
Yang Zhen looked at Elder Qian and said, “Let’s drop the talk about the Emperor’s heritage. It’s impossible anyways. Let’s talk about the Black Pool. What is the Black Pool, and how did Old Ghost Lu go mad?”
“Let me finish first!” Elder Qian gave Yang Zhen a stern look, hesitated for a moment, and continued, “Though there is no Emperor’s heritage in the Sealed Land, inside it… an inheritance of an entire race may be buried!”
On hearing Elder Qian’s words, everyone present was stunned.
Lu Tianwei, surprised and doubtful, came over to Elder Qian and asked in a deep voice, “Respected elder, you mean the whole race’s heritage?”
Hissss——!
If Elder Qian’s words surprised the crowd before, Lu Tianwei’s remarks made everyone present gasp in astonishment. Their expressions became even more horrified.
An entire race’s heritage; which meant that an entire race had perished here!
How and what kind of terrible disaster had such powers as those of the Ancient Spirit Race, where Elder Qian and the Thousand-Spirit Saintess resided, Sha Clan or Ke Clan, and even more so, the location like Heavenly Snow Holy Domain, a place of ancient inheritance, endured that led to the death of all of them on their ancestral lands and being buried in the Sealed Land?
The eyes of Yang Zhen lit up. Damn, if what Elder Qian said was correct, then this Sealed Land could certainly be something that could cause turmoil across the whole Northern Island. What was buried here could potentially be more than just the heritage of a single race, possibly the secrets of the entire previous epoch!
Where had all those great saints gone?
What on earth had abruptly cut off those magnificent legends of the awe-inspiring emperors who once shone in this world?
After tens of thousands of years, no one remembered what exactly had happened during that previous epoch.
Yang Zhen could confidently say that this Sealed Land was definitely related to the previous era. If this was indeed the case, understanding the secret of why this race’s heritage was buried could very possibly lead to unraveling the mystery of that previous epoch. At least he wouldn’t be as in the dark as he was now, knowing absolutely nothing.
The sneaky cat, sitting on Yang Zhen’s shoulder, was similarly taken aback, its eyes flickering with astonishment and uncertainty as if it were deep in thought.
Roar——!
A thunderous roar enveloped the Sealed Land. Now that the Sealed Land had recovered its natural prohibition due to underground changes, nothing could leave and no one outside could see what was happening inside.
The two small hills that Yang Zhen moved were the strategic points of this spatial prohibition. Now, if anyone wanted to enter the Sealed Land, they had to open the Sealed Land again.
But inside the Sealed Land, there was an authentic Practitioner of the Divine Transformation Stage!
Do not open it, whatever you do. Even if there’s a legacy of the great emperor inside, do not open it!
Yang Zhen made a firm decision. This wasn’t a joke; the Sealed Land couldn’t just be opened at will. All the people here combined probably wouldn’t be enough to kill that dark puppet.
It can’t be opened!
Upon hearing the roar of the dark puppet, everyone present changed their expressions. They had all witnessed the terror of a Practitioner of the Divine Transformation Stage, who had flung Elder Qian of the Mahayana Phase away with a single strike. Offending such a powerful being was unthinkable.
Then, Elder Qian continued, “That black pool is the entrance to the inheritance buried in the Sealed Land. Lu Qiju entered it and became insane. However…”
“However, what?” Yang Zhen looked at Elder Qian curiously.
Elder Qian sighed, “Lu Qiju, although his mind was thrown into chaos by some mysterious power and he became insane, he jumped into the black pool just before dying. We found…”
“We found an extremely powerful aura in that black pool. If we’re not wrong, it’s a resurrection power. But anyone who is not in the Divine Transformation Stage, even a practitioner in the Mahayana Phase, cannot withstand it.”
“Resurrection power?”
Upon hearing this, Yang Zhen’s eyes widened in shock.
Was there really a power of resurrection in this world?
Those who got out of the Sealed Land were looking at each other, still gripped by fear. But Yang Zhen noticed a greedy gleam in many people’s eyes. Obviously, the black pool contained something that could drive these practitioners mad just by thinking about it.
“The Undying Clan, it’s the Undying Clan!” The sneaky cat suddenly screeched, startling Yang Zhen.
Yang Zhen turned to look and froze. The cat’s eyes were shining with excitement, an expression Yang Zhen had never seen on its face before.
The Undying Clan, was this a remarkable race?
Damn, just by hearing the name one could tell it sounded impressive. But was there truly any immortal being in this world?
Even those great emperors had all disappeared, hadn’t they?
