The short chair seemed as if was meant for the children in the kindergarten. The tall and elegant man seemed odd when he sat on it.
The pedestrians could not help but give him a second look.
Many of the young ladies saw that it was a handsome man and their first reaction was to strike up a conversation with him. But when they noticed the cold and aloof look on the handsome man’s face, they dared not make a move.
It was rare to see handsome men but their lives were more important.
The handsome man did not seem to be in a good mood. It was better not to provoke him.
“The food is here.” Chi Enen bought two servings of pineapple rice. She took one one in each hand and walked carefully to the table. She put one of them in front of the man with an icy face, and she placed the other rice casually next to it, blowing on her red fingers.
It was piping hot.
If she had known, she would have asked for a tray to bring the food over.
“What has happened to your hand?” Li Beijue looked cold and distant but the concerned look in his eyes had betrayed him.
Chi Enen hid her hands casually and sat down with a smile. “It’s nothing. The pineapple rice was too hot and I accidentally burned my fingers. I am alright now.”
Li Beijue did not believe her words. He took her left hand forcefully to check. He relaxed slightly after knowing that she was alright. “Fool! Why don’t you ask the stall owner to bring it over for you?”
Nobody would do that for things that only cost 10 yuan.
Chi Enen stuck out her tongue and did not argue with him. She gave Li Beijue a disposable plastic spoon and turned to sniff the fragrant pineapple rice, feeling satisfied. “It smells nice.”
He could not tell that it smelled nice.
Li Beijue did not make any movement to eat the rice.
Chi Enen ignored him. Since she had already bought it for him, it was up to him if he wanted to eat it or not. She took the spoon and started digging into the pineapple rice.
Pineapple rice was made by emptying the pineapple, placing glutinous rice inside the empty husk and steaming it with some pineapple added to it. Although it was a simple dish, the sweetness of the pineapple infused the glutinous rice and it was especially delicious.
Chi Enen was enjoying her rice while the man next to her who had not been eating raised his eyebrows looking at the pineapple rice in front of him hesitantly.
He had always been a picky eater and this was the first time that he ate at a roadside stall.
The plastic spoon was not hygienic at all and the pineapple that was exposed to the elements made him lose his appetite.
But when he looked at the woman in front of him who was having the food with a satisfied smile on her face, he had an unexplainable urge to try the cheap food that he would not usually give a second look.
“This is mine.” He suddenly reached out to grab the pineapple rice that Chi Enen was eating halfway, putting it in front of him. He then pushed his plate of pineapple rice that he had not touched to Chi Enen. “You can have this.”
“Urgh.” Chi Enen had a startled look on her face. She reminded him, “I have already eaten that.”
She had just finished her sentence when the overbearing man snatched the spoon in her hands, and gave her a new spoon.
She watched as the elegant man gracefully took her used spoon and spooned her leftover pineapple rice into his mouth.
As soon as he ate the pineapple rice, his knitted brows relaxed.
He did not like food that was too sweet, however, the rice tasted much better than he thought.
He curled his thin lips into a happy smile, taking spoonful after spoonful of rice. He glanced sideways at the woman who was dumbstruck. “Dig in, why are you staring at me?”
