Jin Li’s mouth dropped at the sight. Yet, she couldn’t form her words.
As her consciousness seeped back, she lightly sighed and muttered, “Gorgeous…”
Indeed, it lived up to that praise. This beauty was so rare, it could be said to be a treasure, crafted only once in a millennium.
Her soft mutter awoke the bewitched crowd from their sleep-like daze.
First to recover his full cognitive abilities was He Ye. With his voice still strained from the adrenaline, he spoke falteringly, “This box… This design… Is, is it by Lady K.D.?”
K.D., this brand’s design studio had life-long positions held by a selected few designers. They would be crowned Sir K.D. and Lady K.D.. Today, the current Lady K.D. was already at the sliver age of 76. Two decades ago, little to none of her prized pieces had been released. This could be attributed to her lack of contact with suitable materials and her lack of heart-throbbing inspiration.
Her low level of involvement in crafting jewels was to the extent of releasing a product only once every decade. Her previous piece had been 11 years ago. It was a lunar brooch. This priceless accessory was eventually sold to the Royal Family of Spain, Princess Asturias.
Just last year, her 2nd work had been unveiled in a press conference. Quoting her words, it “took her 5 years to complete, and turned out to be the most perfect work in her lifetime.” What’s more, it was probably her last.
Everything was personally monitored. From the Kashmir Sapphires forming the main body, to the cutting, design and polishing… from start to finish, she had done it all by herself.
My Dearest Stars. That’s what Lady K.D. named her proudest piece of art.
It was flawless, picture-perfect and her lifetime pride. Truly, it was The Dearest Star.
Countless jewel collectors and even Royal Families had voiced their desperate longing for this necklace. What’s more, rumours abounded of its staggering value of a hundred million.
Alas, there was no news about the new owner.
Who would have thought that this treasure would land in her hands.
…
In this ordinary cafe’s private room, under the severely lacking security conditions, this highly desired world-class accessory had been transported by a plain-looking secretary….
What’s more, it was gifted under these blatant, no-fuss conditions!
That dazzling sparkle brought He Ye’s jaw to the floors. His line of sight locked onto Bai Yan as his body shook from the utter disbelief.
This man. Who in the world is his “Sir”? Who is this man that can make an agreement to buy “The Dearest Stars”, and even give it away so easily?
Many may have thought this was a counterfeit item. But not He Ye.
After all, he knew that there were things that only needed a simple glance to tell the real from the fake. This gem was one of those things. Its beauty and charm were unparalleled and unreproducible.
Hearing Bai Yan’s gasp, a hint of arrogance seeped onto Bai Yan’s face. “Oh? Such an eye for treasures. You are spot-on, Mr He! This is the most desperately sought after accessory in the world, a masterpiece by Lady K.D, Mr Dearest Star.”
Eagerly, he smiled at Jin Li, “Miss Jin Li, is this suitable to your tastes?”
Without a doubt, she loved it. As usual, she was honest, vigorously nodding her head in agreement.
A bright smile streaked across Bai Yan’s face. Finally, his efforts had borne fruit, “If Sir heard this, he would be glad too.”
“It’s meant to be a gift?”
Bai Yan gently nodded. Immediately, he realised that this gift might prove to be too heavy for her. Swiftly he reassured Jin Li, “Sir, bought this especially for you. In our eyes, only an unsurpassable beauty like yourself is befitting of this treasure.”
What a way with words. Bai Yan was truly reliable in times of need.
That flattery sent surges of felicity rushing through Jin Li. Her rosy cheeks lifted as her sakura-pink eyes peeked through her narrowed eyelids. “Hmm, he has good taste. Indeed, without my superior looks, it would be tough to uphold its grace.”
His smile froze for a second. That straightforward self-praise still surprised Bai Yan even now.
Hm, as blatant as ever…
“Too bad that I don’t want it. Please take it back!” Jin Li pouted slightly.
Those words wiped away Bai Yan’s smile.
Are my ears failing me?
She doesn’t want it?
There are actually women who can resist the temptation of “My Dearest Star”?
