Chapter 40: To Lend A Helping Hand
“Roar!”
Seeing that the human dared to attack it, the monster roared and immediately lowered his head to attack Tang Ning with the sharp horn on its head. As soon as the monster attacked, Tang Ning quickly turned and avoided the attack. She then used the centrifugal force of the attack and relentlessly stabbed the monster’s neck using her dagger. However, the blade didn’t pierce the monster’s body and only scratched its skin instead.
“Roar!”
The monster shook its head and opened its mouth to bite the human beside it. However, he saw the human grab onto its horns and suddenly rolled over and climbed onto its body, riding on its back.
A mere human dared to horse around on its back! This was undoubtedly an offense in the monster’s eyes!
The monster roared and shook itself wildly, in an attempt to shake the human off its back, yet the human remained on its back. Seeing its efforts were to no avail, the monster dashed forward and strongly slammed itself against a tree, trying to knock the human off its back. However, who knew that the human riding on its back would continuously stab its body randomly with the dagger, and although the dagger couldn’t harm the monster, it was infuriating it.
Tang Ning was not randomly stabbing the monster’s head. She had been aiming for its eyes. However, her hands were too short of reaching its eyes, so she could only wrap her legs tightly around the monster to prevent herself from flying out and slowly inch forward.
“Ahh…!”
When the monster crashed against the tree, it rubbed against Tang Ning’s shoulder wound. She sucked in a cold breath in pain, as blood immediately gushed out of her injury, where blood was already oozing due to a previous attack. Tang Ning’s complexion gradually paled.
“I don’t believe that I can’t kill you!”
Tang Ning gritted her teeth and tightened her legs around the monster’s body. She sat up straight, and with the dagger in her hand, she fiercely stabbed the monster’s eye.
“Roar!”
The sharp dagger pierced one of the monster’s eyes, and fresh blood squirted out instantly. The monster, which was already trying to shake Tang Ning off its back, roared in agony and began to move around wildly in pain.
After stabbing one eye successfully, Tang Ning did not pause and stabbed the other eye as well. After blood squirted from the other eye and the monster became completely blind, the monster wailed frantically and started dashing towards the deeper part of the forest.
“Bang bang bang bang…”
“Roar!”
A group of mercenaries heard the shrill and agonizing wails of the monster, and the crashing sound created when the monster sprinted in the forest, and they were all shocked. Someone asked surprisingly, “Why does the monster’s roar sound so agonizing?”
“Something is not right! Why does it sound like the monster is moving towards us?” Another person spoke and immediately became vigilant.
“It’s here! The monster is coming over here!”
“Listen to the pressure caused by the monster’s roar! It should probably be a high-level monster. Everybody, stay alert and prepare to fight!” The leader of the mercenary immediately shouted, and his hand was already on the sword at his waist. The group had their back against one another as if facing a strong enemy, and they were all facing outwards as they prepared to fight.
However, as a huge monster appeared in their sight after a series of crashing sounds, they were shocked to see that the monster they had been preparing to fight was not even looking at them. The men were dumbfounded to see the monster continue dashing forward, moving past them.
“Benefactors, please lend a helping hand!”
Tang Ning shouted towards them, but the men continued staring like a fool with their dumbfounded expressions, as they saw the monster dragging her further deep into the forest.
