Chapter 47: What Species
“Barrier? Or is it an array formation?”
Tang Ning muttered in surprise. She was sure that someone had created a barrier and array formation here. Realizing she won’t be able to get out, for now, Tang Ning started wandering around the bamboo forest, searching alternative routes to get out. But as she walked further deep into the forest, she found an extremely beautiful bamboo.
“Blackie, come over here. Why is this bamboo different from the rest?” She waved her hand to call the crow, but her eyes were locked on the green bamboo that had a width of two fingers.
Tang Ning stretched out her hand to touch the bamboo and could not help but raise her brows. “This bamboo has a great texture. It would be suitable for me to use.”
The crow was staring at the surrounding bamboos with its black eyes continuously darting around, no one knew what it was thinking. After listening to Tang Ning’s words, it flew over and stared at the beautiful bamboo. In the next moment, its black, beady eyes were filled with surprise and disbelief as it looked at the bamboo, and then it turned to Tang Ning, sizing her up and down as she stood beside observing the bamboo.
“What are you looking at?”
Tang Ning flicked the crow’s head and said, “Isn’t this just a beautiful bamboo? What’s with the surprised look?”
The crow stared at Tang Ning with its little eyes and suddenly yelled, “What do you mean by just a beautiful bamboo? This is the Ten Thousand Years Guanyin Bamboo! What a lucky bastard you are to discover such a treasure!”
“Ten Thousand Years Guanyin Bamboo?” Tang Ning stared at the bamboo in her hand, still skeptical, “This bamboo is less than a meter, yet it is ten thousand years old? Did you make a mistake?”
Listening to her doubtful words, the crow stared at her and asked, “Which remote mountain did you come from? How can you not know about this?”
The corners of Tang Ning’s mouth twitched as she was being despised by a crow.
“I found these bamboos familiar, and so I was staring at them just now, trying to recall what species it was. I just realized this entire bamboo forest is filled with the Guanyin Bamboo!”
The crow stared at the surrounding bamboos in surprise before looking at the bamboo pole in Tang Ning’s hand. It then said doubtfully, “Why would this place have Guanyin Bamboos? Not to mention a Ten Thousand Years Guanyin Bamboo? This is weird!”
Tang Ning stared at the crow weirdly as she asked, “Didn’t you just get out of your shell? How do you know more than me?”
“Of course, I know more than you! Can’t you see what species I am? Ancient divine beasts like us inherit memory and bloodline from our ancestors, okay!”
The crow raised its little head proudly before staring weirdly at Tang Ning. The crow said, “I wonder what species you are? How do you have such great luck? You just contracted me, who is a rare ancient divine beast, and now you have found this Ten Thousand Years Guanyin Bamboo! Where did you come from? Also, just now, when we were contracting, I felt a crack in your divine soul. Are you some old demon?”
Tang Ning petted its head while feeling shocked in her heart. There’s a crack in her divine soul? Why did she not know about this? But she did believe that she possessed great luck. She was an oddball, after all!
If not for her great luck, how could she reincarnate into this immortal cultivating world? She was originally an oddball, which was why she was not very surprised when she contracted the ancient divine, Three-Legged Golden Crow, or discovered the Ten Thousand Years Guanyin Bamboo now.
All of these are not much surprising considering how she transmigrated over multiple dimensions to reincarnate in this world.
Noticing that Tang Ning was just silent and smiling profoundly, the crow stared at Tang Ning in shock. “Caw! Caw! Are you really an old demon?”
