Chapter 54: The Facade Was Broken
Tang Ning felt helpless as she wondered how she re-encountered this demon? She told him that they would never meet again, yet not long after, they had met again.
She stared at him and smiled inexplicably. “Benefactor, are you returning? Please bring me along!”
Mo Ye stared at the smiling little monk who was behaving like a little rascal. If not for seeing with his eyes, it would be hard to believe that this innocent looking little monk could be so cold and relentless.
Seeing the little monk’s pale complexion and the blood on the corners of the little monk’s lips, the corners of Mo Ye’s mouth twitched as he said, “Weren’t you acting so well just now? But now you are unable to? You could even kill a cultivator of a Golden Core Stage, why would you need me to bring you along?”
Shit! Her facade was broken!
Tang Ning was dazed as her mind instantly blanked out. This person watched from the dark, without helping her, while she was risking her life to kill a Golden Core Stage cultivator with every ounce of power of merits and virtue in her body?
Blackie sat on Tang Ning’s shoulder and listened to their conversation. Its beady eyes looking at the man dressed in a black robe from time to time.
An acquaintance?
Furthermore, a fated acquaintance who she had met thrice?
Looking at the dazed little monk, Mo Ye’s lips curled up as he asked, “Didn’t you claim to be a disciple of Buddhism? What is your name, and where did you come from?”
“Why are you asking about this?”
Tang Ning regained her focus and lightly patted her chest to calm herself. With her ability at the Qi Refinement Stage, it was natural that she could not block the pressure of a Golden Core cultivator. However, after being reminded by Blackie, she recalled that by contracting with an ancient divine beast, she had the coercion of an ancient divine beast now existing in her body.
It was for this reason, she was able to shock her enemy and hence kill him in a single shot.
However, even with the help of coercion of divine beast, using the power of merit under such a situation made her blood boil and her breath disrupted, causing her to gush out a mouthful of blood.
“You have great potential. Since you are not a real temple disciple, I can take you in as long as you have a clean background.”
Mo Ye genuinely felt that Tang Ning had a great mental state despite her young age. Even Shadow One and Black Wind wouldn’t be able to match with her quick response and courage in times of danger. She had great potential and would be a great help to him in the future if he kept her by his side and trained her.
But upon hearing these words, not just Tang Ning, even Blackie was dumbfounded. Its beady eyes were looking at Tang Ning as it thought, “How did this human wearing a mask come to the conclusion that Tang Tang needed someone to take her in?”
“What? You are not willing?” Mo Ye’s eyes squinted when he noticed her lack of response.
Looking at Mo Ye’s expressions, Tang Ning could not help but smile. “I didn’t expect that you had such expectations of me! I am flattered.”
“Does this mean that you agree?” Mo Ye’s voice softened slightly.
“No.”
Tang Ning smiled, her eyes squinted as she said, “I know that you are a distinguished person, but I don’t come from an ordinary background either. If you don’t have an ability that can convince me, why would I be willing to be your subordinate?”
Tang Ning paused for a moment, and before Mo Ye could say anything, she continued. “Other than ability, what else do you possess which could convince me to serve you as my Lord?”
The smile on her face was a mixture of wisdom and cheekiness as she gradually said, “Instead, why don’t you bring me out of here and invite me to your place as a guest for a few days? If you can convince me to stay by your side, I will willingly serve you as my Lord and Master, what do you think?”
