Chapter 59: Baby, Did You Miss Me?
She left the study room and went back to her room.
As she closed her room door, Weiai leaned her body against the door and slid down until she reached the ground. She thought about her old father, the evil Meng Xinlan, the pretentious Meng Kexin, and Auntie Yue who had turned bad.
Weiai felt more alone than ever at that point in time. There was someone trying to harm her father, but her father was too absorbed in it to realize!
Thinking about this, as she raised her eyes and saw the photo sitting on her bed frame, her eyes turned red. She walked forward and grabbed the photo frame—her father was smiling and embracing her mother in the photo and her mother placed her hands on her stomach, radiating motherly vibes.
This was a photo from when her mother was pregnant with her.
“Pa Da—”
Her tears fell, turning the photo frame into a blur.
“Mom, what should I do…”
Weiai hugged the photo frame and cried into the pillow to vent her frustrations.
“Young Mistress, you have a phone call.”
Someone knocked on the door and reported.
Hearing this, Weiai stood up and wiped away her tears. Xu Tianxue was the first person to come to mind, else it might be Anran. They were best friends and when she left home, she did not inform anyone, not even them.
When she returned home and wanted to contact them, she was drugged by Meng Xinlan. Her phone was definitely damaged!
They were definitely worried sick after she went missing.
Thinking about this, she rushed downstairs to the phone and picked it up.
“Xuexue, is it you?”
Weiai suppressed all her emotions and asked calmly.
There was no sound for a long time.
Could it be that the person had hung up?
Weiai thought and wanted to check.
“Baby, do you miss me?”
Suddenly, she heard a man’s voice.
Weiai’s expression froze and she subconsciously grabbed on tighter to the phone.
She had to agree to all of his requests just to leave, and that included having to be in contact all the time. However, she did not expect for him to call so immediately just after she had reached home. Thus, she was tempted to hang up on him.
“Baby, why aren’t you talking?”
As Weiai kept silent, the man’s beautiful voice rang again.
However, towards Weiai, that was the voice of the devil. She tried to answer in a perfunctory tone, “I am about to rest as I need to attend school tomorrow! Do you have any issues? If there is nothing, I will hang up…”
“Xia Weiai, I dare you to hang up on me.”
Before she could finish her sentence, he replied calmly with a threatening edge to his voice.
Weiai’s heart sank and kept silent. She decided that she would just reply to his questions.
At that moment, Shen Shaobai changed the topic and asked, “Baby, did you cry?”
Hearing that, Weiai was shocked. She was indeed crying in the room just now, so her voice was hoarse. She did not expect for him to notice it and hence, was taken aback.
Very quickly, Weiai denied. “I did not cry…”
“Xia Weiai, I want to see you!”
It was obvious that he had predicted her answer and hence, he made a decision without leaving any room for discussion.
At that moment, Weiai could no longer stand it and said angrily, “Shen Shaobai, what’s wrong with you? It’s nighttime now.”
“Du, du, du..”
Before she could finish, he had hung up on her.
Weiai held onto the phone and stood there in shock, feeling tired.
“Older sister, who called you? I seemed to have heard a man’s voice.”
Suddenly, a sweet voice could be heard, and it made one’s heart soften.
Weiai hung up and turned around. Meng Kexin approached her with an innocent smile on her face. Her father Xia Tianze and her stepmother Meng Xinlan were behind her.
Weiai suppressed her unhappiness and retorted in a casual tone. “Yes, it was indeed a man, but it was Brother Xu. He knew that I was in a bad mood, so he called to comfort me.”
Wasn’t it all about acting? She would put her acting skills to test!
She saw Meng Kexin’s face change and there was an angry look on her face as she had her back facing Xia Tianze, but she still spoke in a sweet voice. “Was it? So it was Brother Tianchen! Brother Tianchen is so biased, he is only concerned for older sister.”
Weiai listened to her speak in disdain.
Even if Xu Tianchen did not like her, they had known each other for many years. H would definitely choose her over Meng Kexin!
Knowing that it was Xu Tianchen, Xia Tianze was glad and wrapped his arms around his her shoulders. “Come and have dinner, Weiai. You must have suffered outside, I have ordered Auntie Yue to prepare your favorite dishes.”
Weiai smiled and looked at Auntie Yue. She still had her head down and did not dare to look at her. Perhaps, something happened when she was not around? Else, why would Auntie Yue be on their side!
Weiai was in a daze throughout dinner.
On one hand, she had no appetite as she sat at the same table with Meng Kexin and Meng Xinlan, watching their pretentious smiles. On the other hand, she was bothered by Shen Shaobai. It was already seven-thirty. If he were to come over, wouldn’t it be after ten?
Her father was always strict. She had a 9 PM curfew and she could not leave the house after nine!
Weiai had a headache from thinking about it. How was she supposed to leave the house?!
