Chapter 2: Rebirth (2)
“Pitter, patter…” In a daze, Xu Yun Yao felt as if water drops were falling on her face, making her wet.
Is it raining? She was a bit confused, but then she heard the cry of a woman next to her, interspersed with an old woman’s sobs: “Madam, the girl, she…”
“Nonsense, you… nonsense! My little girl just fell asleep. You mustn’t make any noise that disturbs her!” The voice of the young woman was somewhat loud, holding the baby in her arms tighter. She was stubborn and sincere, but the tears on her face were rampant.
Xu Yun Yao frowned uncomfortably as her face was damp and sticky. She subconsciously struggled. “Bold. Who is so rude…”
“Baaa… Baaa.” Then, she was horrified to find that what she heard from her mouth was a baby’s babble.
What frightened her, even more, was that when she finally opened her eyes, she discovered herself tightly held in the arms of a young woman, with a face full of tears!
“Madam, girl… the baby girl moved; the girl moved…” The servant jumped in surprise and yelled out. Immediately after, the room was filled with a joyous atmosphere.
“Quick, quick, call Master. Hurry, call the doctor!” The old woman yelled out excitedly.
Outside, a young man in indigo robes and red eyes had his hands clasped tightly in his sleeves.
He had a hard time looking forward to his baby daughter… God is so cruel!
“The girl woke up; the girl woke up; the girl woke up!” Suddenly, a servant burst out of the room and shouted at the top of his lungs.
He gasped, suddenly turned around, and almost barged into the room.
As Xu Yan Yao was about to speak, she was tightly held by the young woman and was surrounded by a burst of joyful screams. Her heart was anxious and afraid, though, struggling to cope with the situation.
“Who are you! Where is this place? Let go of this Palace’s body!”
Her loud cry was heard by others, but it was only a soft baby’s cry.
“Wife, our daughter… she…”
At this moment, rapid footsteps were heard, accompanied by a man’s low voice.
“Husband, our little girl is still alive. Our precious daughter is healthy and living!” Ruan shi cried and smiled at the same time.
As the doctor had announced that her daughter was dead—and even said this many times over—no one tried to convince her otherwise. Everyone told her that her precious little girl had passed away without opening her eyes in this world.
“Alive? Our daughter is still alive…” The man was pleasantly surprised to see her daughter waving her little hands and feet in her wife’s arms and became muddled for a while.
With a red face, Xu Yun Yao, who wanted to struggle out of Ruan Shi’s suffocating arms, froze as she tried to turn her small neck to look at the man.
When she saw the other person’s face, her expression sank. She still recognized the face in front of her eyes, and she couldn’t help but crawl her way towards the other side.
Tang Song Nian! Old man! You and I have irreconcilable differences!
“Looks like the little miss wants to embrace master.” Mama Xia wiped a handful of tears off her face and said with a smile.
On one side of the servant, Cui Wen also bit into her handkerchief with tears of joy.
Tang Song Nian subconsciously reached out to pick up the newborn. The small, delicate baby fell into his arms. Her body was warm and soft, and her eyes were so hot that they could burn his tears dry.
In the eyes of Xu Yun Yao, there was only deep hatred within her. As soon as she fell into the man’s thick arms, she began exerting all her strength to scratch and kick him.
Old man! You dare to defile this Palace’s body! You hateful old man!
After planning for many years to become the next Empress, she was so close, and she had even seen that the name in the imperial edict after the seal was hers. If it weren’t for this old man, how could she have been cut off by Consort Shen, who didn’t even have the qualifications to be her opponent!
The more she thought about it, the more she hated it, and the more she used all her strength to kick and beat the other person.
It was a pity that although trying her best to kick Tang Song Nian, even tickling him was not good enough. Looking at the lively appearance of the little girl, Tang Song Nian’s taught nerves finally relaxed.
He sniffed, pushing his tears down. His face unknowingly raised a happy smile, and he dumbly said, “Ah’ Ru, you see, our daughter’s boldness is truly powerful.”
