Chapter 49: Portable Learning Aid Terminal
“Is this the legendary smart glasses?”
Lin Yu felt hopeful after examining the silver-white glasses.

“It really is a pair of smart glasses.”
After going through its attributes, Lin Yu let go of his worries and put the smart glasses on right away. He tried it out and found a power button that was the size of a fingertip on the right side of the glasses.
He turned the glasses on and a hovering, partly transparent menu appeared in front of him. It seemed similar to the Attributes Menu for his superpower but it appeared in the manner of a smartphone’s interface.
As long as it was not some complicated technology, young people could figure anything out on their own nowadays. For instance, they would not need guidance for laptops or phones at all that even a child could master them.
After a mere few minutes, Lin Yu figured out how the smart glasses worked.
To make it easier to understand, it was a glasses and smartphone hybrid on his eyes. The smart glasses possessed the ability to correct one’s vision and was suitable for his eyes. Although he had always hated wearing glasses, Lin Yu felt like the world seemed clearer than ever.
On top of that, the smart glasses operated on Android so all the apps Lin Yu had on his phone, including the Academic Genius System, were available through the glasses. They worked fine as well.
It was easy to operate as he could just point to the partly transparent menu in his view to work the glasses. The tiny camera in the upper right corner of the frame was used for shooting and tracking his gestures. Although the menu appeared on the lenses themselves, it seemed like it was hovering right in front of him.
On top of that, it was possible to turn on sight-tracking in the settings as well. It relied on inertia and eye movements for operation; as this function was available on many VR apps, Lin Yu did not make it a system-wide setting.
Apart from the changes to hardware and operation, the most important thing was the Academic Genius System.
However, after looking at the newly-added updates log, the Academic Genius System seemed to have stayed the same. Its basic functions were still the same, but there were changes to the app’s details.
Firstly, the interface was modified and the menu looked better than before. The off-white and translucent fonts, together with the transparent menu, had a sci-fi vibe to them. Moreover, Lin Yu could drag and zoom the Attributes Menu and timer to the corner of his view and could choose to enlarge them anytime.
There were also changes to the app’s functions. The reserve fund records had to be recorded manually, but it was now directly linked to the chosen payment method and the transaction would be automatically recorded as well. Apart from that, the floating ball on the meditation page was also modified from a 2D ball to a holographic image in front of him.
“It seems like even my superpower thinks that my Academic Genius System was designed perfectly.”
Lin Yu smiled shamelessly after trying out all functions of the smart glasses.
Following his experiences with the Charge Blade and the gauntlets, he was extremely satisfied with the Level 1 Academic Genius System. The system was much better than the Charge Blade, which only had significant changes after getting upgraded thrice.
Moreover, he obtained a cool and convenient tool unexpectedly—the smart glasses. To someone who was heavily reliant on his phone, the glasses were godsent. If any high schoolers had these glasses, they would be extremely happy.
My mother no longer needs to worry about me being on the phone during classes!
…
The social circles in college were dorm-based, so moving away from the dorm meant that a person would be separated from his core social circle. This was why some people would still choose to stay in dorms despite being able to live at home or stay off-campus.
Xu Zhaoyang was busy lately, while Zhou Jie and the others went back to being slackers after a few days of hard work, so Lin Yu was all alone again.
After sitting through two classes—where lecturers were basically doing one-man shows in empty classrooms—Lin Yu did not forget about his livestream and got ready to go to the library after having his lunch.
Although it was just a trial run of the Academic Genius System, it was a livestream and was still a little performative. Since it was a speech, he had to be particular about the environment and atmosphere, so he could not just squat in a corner and read.
“Hey, wait. Have you paid?”
After his meal, Lin Yu attempted to use his smart glasses to scan a QR code for WeChat Pay. However, the boss was confused when he watched Lin Yu pull out his glasses and pointed his finger in the air. Despite hearing the notification bell of a completed transaction, Lin Yu was stopped from leaving.
“I’ve already transferred the money. Wasn’t there a notification bell? If you don’t believe me, you can check your WeChat. It was for a plate of mixed rice with chili fried pork.”
Lin Yu was prepared for this conversation. If he was not stopped from leaving, he would be fine but even if he was stopped, he was ready to explain himself.
He was not showing off. He…could only use his smart glasses at the moment as he did not have a single penny in his wallet.
“Hey, it’s here! How did you do it?”
The boss pulled out his phone and looked up in suspicion, “Brother, are you an Awakened Superhuman? Did you use your skills on me? I’m telling you it’s illegal.”
“I used my smart glasses to transfer the money to you. This is just technology, it’s not a superpower.”
Lin Yu knocked on the temples of his smart glasses.
Although ordinary people could not manufacture smart glasses, they did exist. On top of some known prototypes, Google had launched its own as well. The only problem was that these products were incomparable to the upgraded Academic Genius Glasses.
“Are these the legendary smart glasses?”
The boss was a young man so his eyes lit up upon hearing that. He examined the glasses and said, “It looks cool, where did you get it? Can I try it out?”
Lin Yu politely refused. “I’m sorry, this is a prototype of a friend’s company and it’s still confidential. It’s currently in its developing stage for the time being.”
“If that’s the case… I understand. Let me know when it’s on sale as I want to buy one for myself.”
The restaurant boss felt a little upset but since they were unfamiliar with each other, he could not force Lin Yu to do anything and could only watch him walk away.
After the brief incident, Lin Yu arrived at the college library.
It was still as quiet and gloomy as how it had been the last time. The central air conditioner made it seem like a haunted house, and there were very few students in it. The old librarian, who was wearing a pair of reading glasses, was reading an old, faded copy of a wuxia novel.
