Chapter 57: Workers
The livestream viewers all expressed their lack of interest and the site’s announcement system was completely ineffective. Only a few new meager viewers had joined the stream.
Of course, this did not mean Lin Yu was losing in popularity. It was all due to the constant bombardment of gift announcements in Lin Yu’s stream that caused most people to grow desensitized to it.
The Academic Genius Program’s prototype version that was shared attracted plenty of users to try it out. Although it would not be effective for everyone, it would at least help a person like him who wanted to change for the better but was unable to. A flying ship would be given from time to time when there were plenty of people using it. However, the other smaller gifts were uncountable.
Besides, there were a whole new bunch of streamers on B site recently who all livestreamed themselves studying. Similar to the ASMR genre, it soon became a new streaming genre on B site.
The viewers who watched his websites trolled him by calling themselves ‘workers’. This forced the creator of the Academic Genius System, Lin Yu, to be overwhelmed by his followers’ flood of requests. Hence, he was forced to change his followers’ tag to ‘workers’. Almost all of his livestream viewers displayed that tag.
“Oh, there’s another one.”
Although the viewers were not interested in fame or exposure, they still hoped to be noticed by the streamer. Since the veteran viewers knew Lin Yu would not bother to respond to his viewers while studying, they would only give him the gifts during his break.
However, just like the comments made by the viewers, he was unaffected and would not even crack a smile.
Just at this very moment, however, a single comment caught his attention.
[This isn’t science. How come you guys were cured and it has absolutely no effect on me? Did you send me a fake copy?]
The commenter had a worker’s tag and judging by the comment’s tone, it did not seem to be a troll.
[The download packet is the same as everyone else’s. A fake copy issue is non-existent. However, the Academic Genius System isn’t foolproof. You should at least possess basic willpower and the thirst to change.]
Lin Yu would not even be bothered to answer if it were a troll but since it was not, he felt responsible to offer an explanation.
[I do have that, but the level up or Stimulus Value thing is completely useless. Even when I’ve even locked away my bank card, it’s completely ineffective.]
[Also, those missions were absolutely horrible. I’ve even told my dad my results would be better and my dad made my personal tutor test me on the spot. I didn’t even pass and that made my dad beat the absolute living hell outta me!!!]
That viewer sent two extra comments and had even intentionally added a few more exclamation points at the end with the angry face emoji to express his anger.
Lin Yu was completely speechless as three streaks of black lines fell on his forehead and he asked.
[Pardon my intrusion, how many bank cards do you have?]
The viewer who commented earlier replied.
[Only two. One for my dad’s allowance, one for my mom’s.]

The comments in Lin Yu’s livestream were filled with countless ellipses.
[Brother, please give up, alright. The Academic Genius System doesn’t cure mental retardation.]
[Honey, I suggest you hand your bank card to me.]
[This butthurt brother said his dad beat him, showing this dad is a stern one. In addition to this person being easily butthurt, they obviously have a loving mother. Hiring a tutor is commonly considered a small investment so I’m guessing that this brat locked away the one that contains money from his father, which has no money. The one that holds his mother’s allowance should have lots of money.]
[Whoa, the great analytical emperor.]
[Oh, stop it. Oh, stop it.]
Lin Yu was not even required to respond as a group of people had ganged up on this ‘butthurt brother’, ending the topic.
The Academic Genius System was not a full-proof method and mainly dependent on a person’s will. Hence, most people would only see the effects of the Pomodoro Intervals at its early stages. The people who could truly change for the better were ones who were unsatisfied with their current state and had a huge drive to change from the inside. Hence, it would be meaningless for people who only lied to themselves and took things for granted.
There were plenty of people who recently came to complain about it but they were mostly out of disappointment. People like that ‘butthurt brother’ were not common so even after people left the livestream, there were still some loyal followers who stayed behind until Lin Yu ended his livestream.
Once again it was evening when the livestream ended and Lin Yu called a cab home.
The driver this time was a silent middle-aged woman. Without anyone to alleviate his boredom, Lin Yu put on his smart glasses again and entered the Hero Livestream website.
The main page of the Hero Livestream was similar to other livestream sites. It displayed some streamer promotions and the top of the page showed the location selection tab. He chose to use his current location.
The content of the livestreams were filled with a variety of different stunts. Someone breathed fire on the spot, while someone else was chopping through a bolder on live. This made it seem like a talent scouting website and it was hard to not admit the spectacle.
He never randomly made a choice. Instead, Lin Yu entered Changhai City’s page to look for a streamer he was familiar with.
He first came to Xu Zhaoyang’s channel to take a quick glance. However, he was not online so Lin Yu’s focus shifted to his own father’s channel.
“Lady Luck is smiling.”
The instant he clicked into it, the familiar catchphrase could be heard.
After that, the stream started. Lin Jin was currently demonstrating a flower gift gesture. He was holding onto his deck of Propellant Poker Cards with a single hand and just like a magic trick, he playfully closed his palm while gesturing by curling his index finger. One by one, the card began falling like leaves as they formed into the shape of a three-colored flower.
Directly facing him was none other than Mother Lin, who was currently bursting out laughing.
“Pfft!”
As Lin Yu watched that scene unfold, he too had burst out laughing. His expression looked weird.
He never expected his strict and conservative father to have a playful side like this.
“Whoa, uncle. You’re so handsome!”
“How warm!”
“I want one too!”
A bunch of lovestruck little girls were drooling all over the comments and Lin Yu was completely disgusted by it.
What right did his father have to get female fans that were like awakening like a second wave of lust. How could he, a handsome academic genius, lack any female fans?
This was not scientific at all since he had inherited his parents’ perfect genes. Even if he was not qualified to be prom king, he should still be qualified to be called handsome.
Could the recent hit of young male stars and fresh meat be over as they all flocked to a more mature and older group of men?
Lin Yu silently exited the livestream.
He was afraid that his father’s image in his heart would be completely shattered. He was also afraid of becoming jealous.
After leaving Lin Jin’s channel, he looked up Zhao Xiaolu’s channel. She was also currently livestreaming. Since they were now closer and familiar with each other, he swiftly entered her steam.
Plenty of social media accounts online allowed the usage of a nickname. The one thing that would generate more exposure on Hero Livestream was a codename.
Plenty of livestreamers’ codenames were based on their powers. Just like the codename Lin Yu gave his father: since he was the fake Cardmaster, he was called the ‘Cards Uncle.’ Xu Zhaoyang called himself the ‘Mighty Miracle God’. There was a firebender who went by the names ‘Flame God’ or ‘Lord Flames.’ It was uncertain if the ranking of this Flame God would be ranked at 9527 or 10086 someday.
Zhao Xiaolu’s codename was not as adorable as her. Instead, it was pretty hardcore as she actually called herself ‘Magnetic Explosive Soldier’.
Naturally, a much more detailed explanation would not be required as it was the ability to control electricity. Besides, Lin Hai had mentioned that Zhao Xiaolu was an Awakened Superhuman with two Superhuman Abilities. Although he had never questioned further, based on the previous patterns, Lin Yu guessed it was related to her brain or some sort of intelligence buff related ability.
