Nobody in the Chinn family, regardless of age, thought much of Wind Chen at all.
The doctor in charge said in a firm voice, “My advice is to stop making it worse for the poor old lady.”
“The doctor is right,” agreed the haggard-looking middle-aged man weakly.
“Dad, do you still remember that incident I told you about the last time? The case where a little girl who stopped breathing came back to life? It’s Wind who saved that little girl,” reminded Lola Chinn anxiously.
The middle-aged man looked surprised to hear this and looked at Wind Chen again.
Wind Chen said calmly, “If I start treatment on the old lady now, then I’m 90% confident that I can rescue her from the clutches of death, and she’ll be able to live for another one or two years for sure. But if you delay any further, then even the gods won’t be able to save her.”
“Tsk, what big words. Little punk, it’s not that easy to swindle the Chinn family of our money, you know?” a young man in black sneered coldly by the side.
“Wilton, shut up.” Lola Chinn glared fiercely at the young man in black.
Wilton Chinn’s expression froze, then he continued angrily, “Lola Chinn, you’re the one who’s dragged some random stray cat here to save Grandma. If he can’t save her, are you going to take responsibility for that?”
“I’ll take responsibility for it. I’ll use my life as a guarantee. If he can’t save Grandma, then I’ll jump off the top floor of this hospital to atone for my sins. Is that good enough for you?” retorted Lola Chinn coldly.
“Excellent, just excellent. I’ll be waiting to see what happens.” Wilton Chinn sniggered.
Wind Chen froze momentarily and felt rather touched. He didn’t expect Lola Chinn to trust him this much.
“Go ahead then. There’s no harm in trying,” said Lola Chinn’s father, Berg Chinn, in a low voice.
At this point, Berg Chinn was just trying to hold on to any hope there was, even though he knew it was probably futile.
Since the head of the family had already given the go-ahead for Wind Chen to try saving the old lady, nobody else could say anything even if they wanted to.
“Please go out of the ward. Lola can stay,” said Wind Chen in a solemn voice.
He didn’t want anyone besides Lola Chinn to witness his method of treatment, and, most importantly, he didn’t want to be disturbed during the process.
“Let’s all go out.”
Berg Chinn was the first to leave the ward.
The doctor wanted to say something, but eventually just sighed and walked out as well.
“Punk, if you aren’t able to save my grandma, I’ll tear you to pieces,” Wilton Chinn threatened Wind Chen on his way out.
Wind Chen remained expressionless. He wasn’t bothered at all.
He had agreed to come because Lola Chinn had asked him to. This was a matter of the old lady’s life, so it had nothing to do with the rest of the Chinn family.
In no time, the ward was just left with Lola Chinn and Wind Chen.
“Do you need me to do anything?” asked Lola Chinn cautiously.
“I need acupuncture needles,” said Wind Chen.
“Give me two minutes!”
Lola Chinn immediately ran out of the ward.
In about two minutes, Lola Chinn came back with a set of acupuncture needles and passed them to Wind Chen.
He took the needles from her, took a deep breath, and began inserting the needles.
When the first needle went in, Lola Chinn’s pretty eyes widened.
She saw a golden beam of light flash and disappear instantly at the point where the needle touched the flesh.
Wind Chen continued to insert needles at top speed into various parts of her grandmother’s body.
When it reached the ninth needle, Wind Chen’s face began to look a little pale. His hand trembled slightly and sweat covered his entire face.
Lola Chinn immediately used her sleeve to gently wipe his sweat away and didn’t mind dirtying her clothes at all.
Wind Chen took a deep breath and finally inserted the ninth needle.
The moment the ninth needle was inserted, a light covered the old lady’s body as she lay on the bed. The glow was brightest at the spot between her eyebrows and her chest, and a tremendous amount of life energy emanated from the glow.
Lola Chinn’s eyes and mouth were wide open. This was beyond anything she had ever seen or heard before.
“It’s done.”
Wind Chen removed the needles and exhaled deeply.
He had just performed the Nine Needles of the Gods acupuncture technique. Even if one was already dead, this god-defying technique could bring the person back to life, as if it could communicate with the gods. That’s why it was called the Nine Needles of the Gods.
“How is she?” asked Lola Chinn anxiously.
“If you kiss me, I’ll tell you,” teased Wind Chen.
It was meant to be a joke, but Lola Chinn held Wind Chen’s head with both hands and gave him a peck on the forehead.
That soft and fragrant feeling on his forehead bewildered him for a second.
“Little Lola, is this young fellow your boyfriend?”
A slightly hoarse voice suddenly rang out from nowhere.
“Ah!”
Lola Chinn was shocked. She turned to find that her grandmother had woken up.
“What are you shouting about? You naughty little girl, why didn’t you tell me that you have a boyfriend? How disobedient.”
Lola Chinn’s grandmother looked like a rather cheeky old lady as she purposely pretended to be upset with Lola Chinn while taking a good look at Wind Chen at the same time.
“Grandma, are you feeling discomfort anywhere?” Lola Chinn ignored everything else and quickly asked her grandmother about her condition first.
“I’m feeling really good, as if I’ve become 10 years younger. This hospital is really not bad at all.”
“It’s not the hospital that’s done a good job, Grandma. He’s the one who saved you. His name is Wind Chen.”
Lola Chinn pointed at Wind Chen.
At the same time, Lola Chinn felt really astounded by this.
Wind Chen had actually managed to save someone who was on the brink of death.
Her heart palpitated when she recalled how Wind Chen had inserted those needles earlier.
“Young man, thank you for saving my life. You are Lola’s boyfriend, right?” The old lady looked at Wind Chen.
“No, I’m not.” Wind Chen shook his head and laughed. “Since you’re awake, then you should eat something. Just take good care of yourself during this time, and you’d be able to recover fully.”
“I don’t want to talk about this.” The old lady glared at Wind Chen. “I saw my precious granddaughter kiss you earlier. If you’re not her boyfriend, she wouldn’t kiss you. Young man, are you just playing with my granddaughter and intending to disappear after you’ve had your fun?”
“No, I’m really not.” Wind Chen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“You’re still going to deny it? Lola, get me my walking stick! I’m going to help you to beat this douchebag to death!”
The old lady started getting angry.
“Grandma, don’t get worked up. Please don’t get worked up!”
Lola Chinn rushed to calm the old lady down.
She was afraid that the old lady would get another heart attack if she got so agitated.
“Granny, I was just joking with you. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Lola,” said Wind Chen with a smile.
“That’s more like it.”
The old lady’s anger dissipated instantly, and she broke into a smile.
Lola Chinn looked at Wind Chen with great surprise, and her gaze was very gentle.
She didn’t think Wind Chen would go to this extent to calm her grandmother down.
“Berg! Are you outside? Come in, I have something to say.”
The old lady’s voice suddenly became loud and bright as it carried much authority.
All the members of the Chinn family came back into the ward when they heard her voice. There were more than 10 of them.
Since Berg Chinn was the head of the family, the first thing he was concerned about was the condition of the old lady. He got the doctor to give the old lady a checkup.
The old lady complied with the checkup, and the doctor was utterly astonished. “She’s alright. My goodness, she’s actually alright. My god, this is unbelievable.”
“It’s a miracle. It’s definitely a miracle.”
“Oh my god, I can’t believe end-stage cardiac disease could actually be cured. This is insane.”
All the other doctors and nurses in the ward were equally amazed. They couldn’t help but look towards Wind Chen.
The eyes and mouths of the Chinn family members were also gaping after hearing this.
When Lola Chinn brought Wind Chen into the ward, everyone else besides Lola Chinn had either mocked or despised Wind Chen in varying degrees.
But now, the results had floored everyone, and they simply couldn’t believe it. The family members who had sneered at Wind Chen felt like they had just been slapped on the face.
Lola Chinn looked at the expressions of the people around her and couldn’t help but smile. She felt honored to be associated with Wind Chen.
The doctor in charge bowed towards Wind Chen and tried to hold back his excitement as he asked politely, “May I have the pleasure of knowing your name, esteemed sir?”
