Lola Chinn was in a good mood at first, but when she heard that Wind Chen was here because of Queena Ye, she couldn’t find it in herself to be happy anymore.
Wind Chen laughed hollowly and rubbed his nose. He smiled and said, “Yes, yes, I’m at fault. But could we leave the punishment to after we’re done helping my wife get over this crisis?”
“Fine, I’m going to teach you a good lesson.”
Lola Chinn stretched her fair hand out and pinched Wind Chen fiercely.
“Ah! That hurts!” Wind Chen purposely yelped exaggeratedly.
Lola Chin’s expression immediately paled. She remembered that Wind Chen said he had been in a car accident and thought that she had accidentally hurt him where he was injured.
“I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry! Let me take a look at your injuries.”
Lola Chinn went into a panic and was about to lift Wind Chen’s clothes.
“I was just joking. I’m fine.”
“You must be tired of living.” Lola Chinn clenched her teeth angrily after feeling embarrassed that she had been fooled by him.
“Still angry? You can pinch me again.”
“Tsk. Come along, I’ll bring you to the company,” snapped Lola Chinn in annoyance.
About half an hour later, both of them arrived at Worldread Culture.
Worldread Culture was certainly a lot classier than Star Cultural. Even the long-legged receptionist exuded an extraordinary presence.
“Hello there. We’re looking for the general manager,” said Lola Chinn with a smile.
The receptionist froze for a moment. “You’re looking for…who?”
“The general manager,” Lola Chinn repeated herself.
“Do you have an appointment? May I know who the both of you are?” The receptionist was suspicious.
“He’s the new CEO, and he’s here for an inspection. He needs to talk to the general manager on some matters.” Lola Chinn pointed at Wind Chen.
The receptionist’s gaze landed on Wind Chen. When she saw that he was in hospital clothes, she couldn’t help but laugh. “If there’s nothing else, please leave this place and don’t make any trouble here. Otherwise, I will call the security guards to escort both of you out.”
“He is really the new CEO.” Lola Chinn frowned.
“If he’s the CEO, then I’m his mother, alright? Good heavens, where did these two weirdos come from?” The receptionist rolled her eyes.
Lola Chinn was so angry that she scoffed.
But Wind Chen remained calm as he smiled and said, “Miss, don’t you intend to make a call to confirm this? My name is Wind Chen.”
“I don’t care if you’re Wind Chen or Rain Chen. Please leave.”
The receptionist seemed very certain that Wind Chen and Lola Chinn were just a couple of troublemakers.
Wind Chen shrugged and said to Lola Chinn, “I can understand why she doesn’t know who I am, but it’s tough if she doesn’t know who you are either.”
“I keep a low profile.” Lola Chinn sighed helplessly.
Her father, Berg Chinn, was the CEO of Soaring Leap Group, and she did enjoy a high standing as the heiress to Soaring Leap Group. However, Lola Chinn usually kept a really low profile. She just ran her own little clinic and almost never showed herself in public.
“Aren’t the two of you leaving? Don’t blame me for getting nasty then. Security, see these two out!”
The receptionist raised her voice and attracted the attention of a lot of people in the lobby.
Several security guards rushed over.
“Sir, Madam, this way please.”
The team leader of the security guards was a muscular middle-aged man. He smiled insincerely at Wind Chen.
He looked like he would throw Wind Chen to the floor if Wind Chen tried anything funny.
Wind Chen sighed and said, “I’m a kind person, so I’d advise you to make a call and confirm my identity.”
“Confirm my a*s! Get out!” roared the team leader as his expression turned nasty.
Bam!
Wind Chen lifted his leg and kicked the team leader so hard that he flew more than 10 meters out despite being a burly grown man.
This scene was rather frightening to behold. The rest of the security guards exchanged glances. They were all terribly shocked.
Lola Chinn was gaping as well. Wind Chen had been way too aggressive!
The receptionist could tell that things didn’t look good, so she hurriedly called the general manager. “Ms. Chu, someone’s making trouble downstairs, and he has injured one of the security guards. Please come down and help.”
Once he heard the receptionist make the call, Wind Chen didn’t get antsy. He found a place to sit down and looked very calm.
Lola Chinn sat down next to him and looked at him with glistening eyes. “Where did you learn martial arts from?”
“Well, if you want to know, I could tell you. But you have to…”
“I have to kiss you first? Sure.”
Lola Chinn pecked Wind Chen on the cheek without hesitating.
Wind Chen was speechless. He hadn’t asked her to kiss him.
Lola Chinn blushed slightly. She realized that she had been a little rash. This fellow was a married man after all. But she simply couldn’t stop herself, so what was she to do?
Everyone around them frowned when they saw this.
“These two are seriously too outrageous, don’t you think?”
“Exactly. That fellow impersonated the new CEO and even hit the security guards. And now, they look like they’re having a date here.”
“We really ought to call the police.”
The sound of the crowd murmuring among themselves continued to escalate until a tall figure walked past them with confident strides.
The woman exuded a powerful aura, and wind seemed to accompany her footsteps. She was dressed in a neat black suit that perfectly accentuated her tall and slim figure. Her skin was as smooth and fair as jade, her eyes were alert, and her expression was stern.
Everyone watched in shock and horror as this lady walked all the way to where Lola Chinn and Wind Chen were seated, and bowed towards the two of them.
“Young Mistress, CEO Chen, I am Erin Chu, the general manager of Worldread. I didn’t know you were coming, I apologize for my oversight.”
Erin Chu’s voice sounded a lot gentler than expected, but it didn’t seem out of place despite her neat and aloof look.
“You know who I am?”
Lola Chinn was rather surprised.
Erin Chu smiled and said, “If I don’t even recognize Young Mistress, then I really wouldn’t dare to stay on in this company.”
“Ms. Chu, that’s not true.”
After the two ladies exchanged a few pleasantries, Erin Chu looked at Wind Chen.
A tinge of shock flashed in Erin Chu’s pretty eyes when she saw that Wind Chen was in hospital clothes.
She had never seen a CEO dress like this on his first visit to his company, but she did not show any sign of disrespect towards him.
“Ms. Chu, do you also think that I look very cool this way?” asked Wind Chen with a smile.
“You do look very cool.” Erin Chu tried hard not to laugh and continued, “CEO Chen, Young Mistress, why don’t we go to my office to chat?”
“There’s no need for that. I’ll just need to tell you a few things, then I’m leaving,” said Wind Chen. “I’ll leave the full running of the company to you, and I won’t interfere. In short, I prefer to be a hands-off boss. I’ve come here today because I need your help.”
“Please let me know what you need.” Erin Chu became serious.
Wind Chen didn’t beat around the bush and said, “Star Cultural Company has run into a crisis recently, and I hope Worldread can help them.”
“I’ll see to it,” Erin Chu replied without any questions.
“This matter has to be settled as soon as possible. Alright then, Ms. Chu, I won’t bother you anymore. I have to go back too,” said Wind Chen with a smile.
“Er…” Erin Chu was a little at a loss. “CEO Chen, you’re already here, so…are you sure you don’t want to familiarize yourself with the company? This company belongs to you after all.”
“Well, as I said earlier, I don’t like to be involved.”
“But it’s really not appropriate for you to do that. I hope that you will come to the office often to take a look, even if all you do is walk around and not do anything. Is that alright with you?”
Erin Chu’s voice was very gentle.
Wind Chen froze for a moment. This lady was really pretty, and her voice was so pleasant to the ear. It was going to be hard to turn her down.
“I’ll come back tomorrow then?”
“I’ll treat you to breakfast tomorrow then.” Erin Chu broke into a smile.
Lola Chin quietly gritted her teeth as she witnessed this exchange.
Wind Chen stretched his arms and smiled. “Ms. Chu, when I come by to join you for breakfast tomorrow, I don’t want to see these security guards anymore. Oh, and I don’t want to see this receptionist either.”
