After saying that, Wind Chen didn’t stay any longer and left with Lola Chinn.
The receptionist and the security guards he mentioned had pale faces.
Erin Chu had an unfeeling expression on her face as she said in a firm voice, “From now on, you have been fired. Go to HR for your final paycheck.”
The receptionist felt indignant and said, “But Ms. Chu, look at how CEO Chen was dressed! It’s so hard to believe that he was actually the new CEO.”
“And you didn’t call me to confirm this? Then what have you been doing here? Don’t you know what your job scope is?” sneered Erin Chu.
Her string of questions left the receptionist speechless.
The security guards just shuddered and didn’t dare to say anything at all.
…
Once outside, Wind Chen and Lola Chinn drove back to the clinic. Lola Chinn spoke a lot less in the car than when they came.
Wind Chen didn’t say anything either and just closed his eyes to take a nap.
Lola Chinn finally couldn’t hold it anymore when they reached the clinic. She glared at Wind Chen and said, “When we were at the company, why were you staring at Erin Chu’s waist the whole time?”
“Did I stare at her waist? You’re just blabbing now.” Wind Chen was bewildered.
“You totally did, you d*ucheb*g!”
“Alright then, since you’ve already discovered my true nature, I won’t hide it from you anymore. Actually, my greatest dream is to have a harem of more than 5,000 women.”
Wind Chen said all this with a straight face.
Lola Chinn flew into a rage and picked up a stool that was next to her.
Wind Chen immediately turned and ran for it, escaping into the distance.
A smart man wasn’t going to stand around and get hit!
Lola Chinn stomped her feet and put the stool back down as she grumbled to herself, “Why did you run? I wasn’t really going to hit you anyway. Stupid scoundrel.”
Pfft.
She couldn’t help but burst out laughing as well.
Twenty odd minutes later, Wind Chen reached home.
Sue Lee and the rest immediately surrounded him with worried looks when he stepped into the house.
He suddenly felt rather touched by their actions and thought that even though these people usually despised him, they were still concerned for him in times like this.
But his face froze immediately after Sue Lee started speaking.
“Wind Chen! You normally don’t send Queena to work, but this morning, you strangely insisted on sending her to work and she ran into an accident. Tell me, are you trying to murder my daughter because she isn’t reciprocating your feelings? Is my daughter hurt?”
Sue Lee’s expression was dark.
Zander Ye’s expression was equally frosty.
Mina Ye and Penn Zen looked like they were ready to watch a good show.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?” shouted Zander Ye in a very irritated voice.
“She’s fine. You don’t have to worry.”
Wind Chen held his emotions back.
“So were you the one who purposely did something to cause an accident?”
Sue Lee refused to let go of this narrative.
Penn Zen seized the chance to chime in, “Wind Chen, she got into an accident the first time you sent her to work. Don’t you think that’s a bit too much of a coincidence? This is someone’s life we’re talking about. I’m quite sure this has something to do with you.”
“Exactly. Wind Chen, you’d better come clean with us. What are you scheming?” Mina Ye glared at Wind Chen.
Wind Chen took a deep breath. He really wished he could just slap all these idiots to death.
“If you have any questions, wait for Queena to come home tonight and ask her yourselves. Stop bothering me.”
Wind Chen didn’t want to give them any more of his attention.
“Stop right there. Since you’re so impatient, then let me talk to you about something now that Queena isn’t home.”
Sue Lee folded her arms and looked at Wind Chen from the corner of her eye.
“Fine, what do you want to say?” Wind Chen was close to losing his patience.
Sue Lee took a deep breath, then took out a card and said seriously, “There’s eight million in this card. We’re paying you back that five million, and the additional three million is payment for getting a divorce. The Ye family doesn’t want to owe you anything. Do you know what I’m driving at?”
“If you think eight million isn’t enough, you can take the car away too,” said Zander Ye calmly as he took Sue Lee’s side.
Wind Chen’s expression fell. “Don’t you two think that you’re going too far? Whether Queena and I want to get a divorce or not is our business. What has this got to do with you?”
“Are you complaining that it’s too little money? Fine, I’ll throw in another million.”
Sue Lee made herself seem like she had a lot of money to spare.
“You’d better keep the money for yourself to see a doctor. Eight million and another million is a total of nine million, and even that much money might not be able to keep you alive,” sneered Wind Chen.
“How dare you curse me! You…you…!”
Sue Lee’s breathing quickened, and her face turned crimson.
“I’m not interested in cursing you,” said Wind Chen. “Have you been experiencing splitting headaches recently? Sometimes you would also have dark rings round both eyes, you often lose your appetite, and your weight has gone down significantly too, right? Were you secretly happy because you thought your weight loss plan worked out?”
“How did you know all that?”
Sue Lee was shocked.
“I’d advise you to stop interfering with my marriage and get yourself a proper check-up at the hospital instead.”
Wind Chen waved his hands about and proceeded upstairs.
“He’s spouting nonsense in order to divert our attention. Sue, ignore him,” said Zander Ye.
“No, I think I really ought to get myself checked. Zander, Mina, come along with me.”
The more Sue Lee thought about it, the more panicky and uneasy she felt.
Wind Chen had already gone into his bedroom and was seated cross legged with a calm expression on his face.
He hadn’t been spouting nonsense about Sue Lee’s health condition.
Ever since his powers came back to him, he had already noticed that Sue Lee had a very serious health issue. In fact, it was probably a terminal illness.
He felt that Sue Lee was a very irritating woman, so he purposely kept it to himself and never told her.
But after Sue Lee tried to bribe him to divorce Queena Ye, he suddenly thought of letting Sue Lee experience what despair felt like.
“I hope that this will teach you to be kinder to others,” said Wind Chen to himself.
He wanted to let Sue Lee experience despair first, then save Sue Lee with his skills.
When one survived a near-death experience, they would usually get rid of most of their bad behavior.
Time flew by quickly. Wind Chen sat cross-legged and kept cultivating until it was eight in the evening. He was interrupted by someone knocking on his door.
Wind Chen got up and opened the door, only to find himself face to face with a frosty-faced Queena Ye.
“What did I tell you to do earlier today? Why did you secretly come running home?”
Queena Ye glared at Wind Chen.
“Wifey, I’m all healed up already. Since I’m well, then I’ve got to go home.” Wind Chen smiled bitterly.
“Are you taking me as a fool?” Queena Ye’s pretty face grew even frostier.
“You don’t believe me? I’ll show you.”
Wind Chen pulled his shirt off and let Queena Ye see his back.
Her eyes landed on his back, and she couldn’t tear her gaze away.
Those wounds on his back were really all healed up. On top of that, she also noticed more than 10 frightening knife wound scars on his back.
“How…why do you have all these knife wound scars?”
Queena Ye couldn’t help but reach out to touch the scars on Wind Chen’s back as her heart trembled slightly.
Wind Chen quickly put his shirt back on and said, “It’s nothing, really. I got them from fighting with others when I was young and immature.”
“Oh.”
Queena Ye nodded gently and didn’t question him further.
But when she thought about how Wind Chen had such mysterious skills, she simply couldn’t believe that these old scars were left behind from a fight when he was young.
This man’s past was definitely hiding many stories that nobody knew about.
