Chapter 23: The Towering Mast
The sky gradually darkened, but Bick was still organizing his supplies.
He had gained too much today. After stuffing a large amount of basic supplies into the storage box, there were still some special items scattered on the floor of the raft.
[Signal drum]
[Level: normal]
[Explanation: In the vast sea, using a signal drum to transmit information is definitely a good method.]
Bick frowned and stuffed the signal drum and the pirate flag into the storage box. These two items were of no use to him at the moment.
“Eh?”
Suddenly, Bick’s gaze was attracted by a cylindrical object. He picked it up and saw that it was a telescope.
[Telescope]
[Level: normal]
[Explanation: You can see a relatively far distance, but it is not clear enough.]
Bick picked up the telescope and looked into the distance. Other than the endless sea, he could see nothing.
However, this thing was quite useful. If an island appeared in the distance, he would be able to find it immediately with the telescope.
Bick put away the telescope and stuffed it into his wooden backpack. He had to carry this with him.
Then, Bick saw something even rarer. It was an empty sheepskin scroll. It was a rare material, as rare as a coconut shell.
He had no idea what this thing could make, so he opened the principle interface.
The first principle that caught Bick’s attention was the smart nautical map.
[Smart nautical map: Wooden board (2/0), sheepskin scroll (1/1), charcoal (0/4), fresh water (1/1) , mana crystal powder (0/1)]
[Level: high quality]
[Explanation: This nautical map can automatically record all the places you’ve been to. You’ll always be in the center of the map!]
This short explanation contained a lot of information.
It could automatically record all the places he had been to. In other words, the map would be drawn automatically. In the future, when he needed to look at it at any time, he would be able to find the target as soon as he opened it.
Moreover, the center of the map was where he was. It was extremely convenient to compare!
Seeing such an introduction, Bick was extremely excited. With this treasure in his hands, wouldn’t he be able to grasp all the resources in the nearby sea area clearly!
However, the awkward problem was that his only mana crystal had already been used to make a material divination compass.
Today’s divination opportunity had been used up, and Bick estimated that there shouldn’t be any mana crystals near the island. The only way now was to go to the trade interface and try his luck.
However, what should he use to trade?
Bick thought for a moment and decided to sell the fresh water, the remaining two kelp, and the signal drum. Although the pirate flag was useless to him, he did not want to give it to others, otherwise, the pirate riding on the flag would definitely find him if he followed the direction of the flag.
Thinking of this, Bick was actually filled with hostility toward the flag. It seemed that this thing appeared to be aimed at him, but… it was now lying in his storage box!
Bick smiled proudly and quickly hung up the items he had on the trade interface.
[Trade]
[Freshwater x4 trade mana crystal]
[Freshwater x4 trade mana crystal]
[Kelp x2 trade mana crystal]
[Signal drum trade mana crystal]
All four trades were hung up. The items traded were mana crystals, and Bick added the same remarks at the end of each trade message.
[Private chat with mana crystals. The items traded can be discussed! ]
After that, he temporarily closed the trading interface because mana crystals were too precious. Even if someone wanted to make a move, they would have to hesitate for a while.
Bick closed the trading interface, but he was not idle either. He had so many basic materials that his warehouse was almost full.
So, now he could consider improving his life. The first step was still to expand the raft.
Bick prepared the wooden board and grass rope, opened the principle interface, and started to make the floor. With the speed of the impatient gloves, he laid a floor in almost a few seconds.
In just a dozen minutes, his raft had grown more than two times, from the original size of 6×9 to the current size of 8×12.
After doing all this, Bick felt that he was no longer standing on the raft, but more like he was standing on a big boat. The empty space was particularly spacious, big enough and no need to be expanded for a long time.
Einstein saw that the raft had become so spacious, so he excitedly ran back and forth on the floor, and actually took a walk happily.
Seeing Einstein’s excited look, Bick actually had the urge to build a bird’s nest for him.
But… where should the bird’s nest be built?
Bick thought for a moment and subconsciously looked up. Suddenly, he had a good idea.
“Build a mast and build a watchtower on it. The watchtower can be used as Einstein’s residence!”
This idea was brilliant!
With a mast, it would be more convenient to use the telescope. Letting Einstein live at a higher place would be more advantageous for him to monitor the surrounding environment.
Moreover, the pirate flag was idle, so he might as well hang it on it. Although he was not a pirate, hanging it on the mast was still quite domineering.
Bick found a place in the middle of the raft and decided to place the mast here. Then, he began to flip through the principle interface of the slate.
[Principle]
[Tall mast: Wooden board (5/5) , wooden stake (0/5) , iron nail (0/10) , grass rope (0/5)]
[Level: normal]
[Explanation: Basic facilities on the raft. Other items can be added to the mast, such as ladders, watchtowers, flagpoles, sails, etc…. ]
“It’s really troublesome to build this thing.”
The tall and straight mast needed to be made of wood, iron nails made by metal sheets, and hay to make grass ropes, and the quantity needed was very large.
It was only because Bick had sufficient resources now, or else it would be really difficult to build this mast.
He quickly made the wooden piles, iron nails, and grass ropes and filled them into the schematic diagram.
Then, one mast after another appeared in front of Bick. Each mast was about a meter tall, and with all five of them built, a five-meter tall mast was completed.
When Einstein saw the towering mast, he flew up in excitement. He grabbed the top of the mast with one claw and let out an excited cry.
“Einstein, don’t be anxious. Watch me build a watchtower for you!”
Bick smiled and took out the god domain slate. He opened the interface and began to look for a ladder, watchtower, and flag.
