342- Let’s Make A Bet! (赌一把!)
The courtyard was abuzz with noise and commotion, with the crowd forming multiple groups, some of them were discussing, some were competing with one another. On the other hand, the people surrounding Jing Yun Zhao were all silent due to her words.
Cousin Cui’s mouth was slightly opened as a look of extreme horror flashed past her face, as if she was being threatened by Jing Yun Zhao.
At this point, Cui Jun was furious! No one had ever treated his Biao-jie with so much disrespect!
“You’re such an unreasonable person! My Biao-jie felt sorry for you and treated you so well by organizing a fundraiser for you, yet you refuse to even say a word of thanks! Even if you didn’t say sorry, it was still okay, but you actually wanted to beat people? What gives you the right to hit someone?” Cui Jun suddenly shouted angrily.
His thundering voice could be heard all over the courtyard, which interrupted the thoughts of countless people who were in deep thinking.
Some of the onlookers who saw Cousin Cui was in shock, and even more people walked towards them, and when they heard what Cui Jun said, they were even more surprised, as they couldn’t imagine that Jing Yun Zhao who looked so frail and weak, would actually threaten people by implying she would beat them.
The surroundings suddenly became wrought with tension.
Before the medicine fair, Jing Yun Zhao spent her days with Hua Zei fighting other people. As a result, her whole body was exuding an aura that made people unable to defy her. After finishing his piece, Cui Jun gave Jing Yun Zhao a fierce glance, yet when he saw the blood-thirsty look in Jing Yun Zhao’s eyes, a chill went past his heart as he started to feel overwhelmed.
At that moment, Cui Jun fell into a trance after staring into Jing Yun Zhao’s eyes, as feelings of fear flashed by.
However, he started to laugh at himself the next moment. After all, why would he be afraid of Jing Yun Zhao?
Isn’t she just a frail little girl? It’s not like she has the ability to throw me and Biao-jie out right? Even if by some chance she has the strength to do it, the people in this courtyard wouldn’t just stand-by and let her do so.
After all, if they were to really fight and argue here, the consequences would be very severe.
Naturally, Jing Yun Zhao also saw the rules for the medicine fair and obviously wouldn’t cause any troubles so as to not let anybody use the situation to attack her. At this moment, Jing Yun Zhao lightly snorted as she looked at Cousin Cui, before smiling and said, “I heard that your memory is unrivaled, that you have a good understanding of medicinal materials and their properties, and that you are very familiar with the process of concocting medicine, is that right?”
“Of course.” Cousin Cui said with arrogance all over her face.
“Since you’re as talented as the rumours claimed, how about we have a competition? If I win, you have to apologize to me and get out of here with Cui Jun, and if you win, I’ll give you all the medicinal materials I brought and I’ll leave, do you agree?!” Jing Yun Zhao replied.
Cousin Cui stared at her with eyes full of distrust.
“Jing Yun Zhao, you have no need to do this, if you’re unhappy with what I said earlier, then I won’t mention it anymore, just treat it as if me and my classmates never donated anything to you, are you happy now?” Cousin Cui said.
Jing Yun Zhao gave Cousin Cui a cold look before replying, “Are you afraid?”
“Jing Yun Zhao, you only have knowledge about some basic stuff, the things that you know, my Biao-jie already learnt it a long time ago. Since you dared to compete with her, you’re just asking to be ridiculed right? Also, on what basis should me and my Biao-jie get lost if she were to lose? Just because you offered your ‘medicinal materials’? If you want to set a wager then set a big one! Do you dare to swear that you won’t learn anything about medicine in the future if you were to lose, and that no matter what type of relationship you have with Old Man Xu, you’ll no longer be in contact with him if you were to lose?!”
Cui Jun suddenly felt energised, with his excitement shooting through the roof at the thought of Jing Yun Zhao losing and crying bitterly.
He himself didn’t know why he hated Jing Yun Zhao so much, maybe it was because she was too brilliant and dazzling, or maybe it was because someone who shouldn’t be so dazzling and brilliant was standing at a higher level than him, causing him to be uncomfortable.
