Chapter 23: Golden Bloodline
The fire fowl’s struggling weakened then, its bloodshot eyes staring fixedly at the goblin that was straddling it.
Rage and misery filled its eyes.
Nonetheless, it took a long time for the fire fowl to slowly turn still and giving up on struggling.
After that, it turned into a streak of white light that fused into the Summoner’s Grimoire.
A transparent page was added within.
The picture on it was lifelike, and the stats remained the stats Chen Yining had read before—the fire fowl’s level remained on Level 2, but everything else was reset.
Regardless, Chen Yining had planned to tame the fire fowl right away.
The transparent page was hence added to the second page of the Summoner’s Grimoire, the picture on it becoming more solid just then.
And once it was done, the clear image of the fire fowl appeared, and Chen Yining summoned it.
A streak of red light shot out of the Summoner’s Grimoire to the flat ground before him.
“Cock-A-Doodle-Doo~”
The summoned fire fowl paced back and forth on its talons. Tilting its head to give Chen Yining a glance, it then lowered its head and continued strolling.
[Need food, hungry]
The fire howl did not appear to be very intelligent, and its thoughts were reflected into Chen Yining’s mind through the Summoner’s Grimoire.
“What do you want eat?” Chen Yining asked.
[Fruity, delish]
The fire fowl skipped excitedly. Rearing itself to its full height of 1.7 meters, it spread its wings and flopped toward the bushes.
Giving chase, Chen Yining held up a hand in front of his own cheek as he split a path through the thicket. The foliage here went as high as two meters and grew lushly despite having thin branches. The leaves were small and round, with many red berries growing out of it.
Even so, the fire fowl’s objective was clearly not the red berries that could be found everywhere, and it seemed to have no intention of staying in the thicket.
In fact, it was becoming more cheerful after it traversed the thicket.
It flapped its wings even more rapidly, randomly clawing anywhere its talons reached.
Every tree trunk along the way was left with streaks of claw marks.
Nonetheless, the fire fowl slowed down after heading fifty meters into the forest, stopping in front of an unusual plant.
The bird craned its neck forward, staring tightly at it.
The plant was around two meters tall. It was basically green, but there were also many golden stripes drawn upon it.
Still, the most curious part about it was the flower blooming at the center. Its dark golden petals were almost wilting and about to fall off, and at their center was a little golden fruit.
It appeared to have grown by absorbing the nutrients of the petals.
As a beam of sunlight incidentally shone through the canopy overhead, it built into a single warm ray that descended upon the golden fruit.
Nonetheless, the Summoner’s Grimoire showed no reaction—it did not provide any data of the fruit.
“Golden fruit,” Green Skin exclaimed in delight then.
“You know it?” Chen Yining asked.
“I have heard about it, Master. It is a mystical fruit, and goblins would become golden goblins if they eat it,” Green Skin replied excitedly.
“Golden goblins… are they awesome?”
Green Skin did a double take. It had no idea whether golden goblins were awesome since it had only heard about them and had never actually met one.
“Probably!” It answered without hesitation regardless, before adding greedily, “Why don’t you let me eat it, Master? We’ll know whether golden goblins are awesome after I do.”
“Cock-A-Doodle-Doo~”
[Mine! Mine!]
The fire fowl turned to glare furiously at Green Skin.
Both summoned beasts could understand each other, perhaps because they had been tamed.
Green Skin sneered, folding its arms before its chest and throwing a lofty look at the fire fowl.
Foolish chicken. I am our master’s most beloved and most trusted summoned beast—how do you even measure up to me, mighty Green Skin who is the embodiment of all affection?
Master would definitely bestow that fruit upon me.
As Green Skin throw another look of confidence and contempt at the fire fowl, Chen Yining spoke.
“Alright. Fire fowl found the golden fruit, so it can eat it.”
Green Skin was dumbstruck.
It slapped itself in disbelief.
Am I dreaming?
Aren’t I your most beloved goblin?
On the other hand, the fire fowl was standing guard in front of the golden fruit and staring fixedly at it, throwing wary looks around it from time to time.
The golden fruit truly matured when the final dark golden petal of its flower falls off.
Every golden shine seemed to be completely withdrawn within, and it turned into a small and plain earthen-yellow fruit.
The fire fowl swallowed it in a single swoop, then crowed from satisfaction through its throat in the next instant.
With that, a golden radiance enveloped the bird.
As if dyed by sunlight, its feathers that were orange and green turned golden.
Soon, it became a golden fire fowl with a fully golden body, rearing its head as it crowed at the skies.
The Summoner’s Grimoire Chen Yining was holding heated up just then, and he opened it.

[Summary: Cock-A-Doodle-Doo~]
Chen Yining noticed the [Golden Bloodline (10%)] title that was added to the fire fowl.
It was a data that never showed up before, and another bond bonus for Golden Bloodline showed up because of it.
Still, the Golden Bloodline bond bonus was gray and inactive for now…
Aside from that, the fire fowl’s fire breath talent had become +2.
Chen Yining had the fire fowl test its abilities, realizing soon that its flames increased in both reach and head.
In fact, it could now reach out to more than ten meters—which was twice more than its previous reach.
Moreover, even though he was standing afar, Chen Yining could clearly feel a rushing wave of heat coming at his face because the heat of the flames increased.
Such was how the golden fruit improved the fire fowl.
After bathing itself in the golden light, the fire fowl stepped out then, the color its feathers now reverted to be more or less the same as before it ate the golden fruit. The most major difference there was that the tip of each feather twinkled with pale golden sparks.
The bird appeared to sparkle with a golden luster at that, and was much more elegant now.
