Chapter 193: Chapter 193 Asura Training Camp
“Young man, how come you’re here? Did you come specifically to find us?” Three girls spotted Lin Shen and ran over with a hint of excitement.
“I’m here to enroll in a training camp, I didn’t expect there to be so many. Do you know where there is a very famous instructor with the last name Mu?” Lin Shen asked.
“A very famous instructor named Mu… I don’t think I’ve heard of him… Have you guys?” Xu Yiyi looked towards Bai Shanshan and Yu Shishi with a puzzled expression.
“Let me think, a famous instructor named Mu, I really can’t remember.” After pondering, Bai Shanshan and Yu Shishi also looked confused.
“Try to think again, it should be a rather famous training camp. Right, Bai Shenfei is from that training camp.” Lin Shen felt something was amiss—as Instructor Mu should be well-known.
Hearing the name Bai Shenfei, Xu Yiyi and the others suddenly realized, “Young man, are you talking about the Asura Training Camp? It used to be quite famous, but that was over a decade ago, it’s not what it used to be.”
Bai Shanshan also said, “When you mentioned Bai Shenfei, I remembered. Everyone thought that the Asura Training Camp had closed down years ago, it was only after Bai Shenfei came out that people learned it was still in operation.”
“Young man, I heard there was an incident at the Asura Training Camp where some trainees were abused to death during training, and after that, it gradually went downhill. Now, our Marine Training Camp is the best, if you want to join a training camp, why not come to ours? We’ll take care of you.” Yu Shishi said this, Bai Shanshan and Xu Yiyi quickly agreed.
Lin Shen then understood why Instructor Mu had been so enthusiastic about inviting him to the training camp—his camp was simply struggling to attract students.
However, having already promised Mu, Lin Shen felt he had to go and see for himself.
After getting directions to the Asura Training Camp, Lin Shen waved goodbye to the three girls.
Before he left, the three girls reiterated their advice to Lin Shen, insisting that if he found the Asura Training Camp unsatisfactory, he must come looking for them at the Marine Training Camp.
Following the directions given by Xu Yiyi and the others, Lin Shen made his way to the southeastern corner of the base, where numerous training camps were situated, but he looked somewhat perplexed upon finding the entrance of the Asura Training Camp.
“Is this really the training camp Xiangdong spoke of?” Looking at the decrepit gate and the overgrown yard within, Lin Shen found it hard to connect this place with the training camp Lin Xiangdong had mentioned.
“How could a training camp that produced someone as famous as Bai Shenfei be in such a state?” Approaching the camp’s entrance, the doorman was too lazy to bother with him, allowing him to come and go as he pleased.
Inside the yard, Lin Shen saw a few uniformed students running with the speed of an octogenarian, each one sluggish and lacking any zeal.
As Lin Shen watched them, they paused, gasping for air and looking back at him with peculiar expressions.
The training camp was much smaller than he had imagined, consisting only of a large courtyard and a few single-story buildings.
On one of the offices, a sign read “Office.” Entering, Lin Shen saw Instructor Mu writing something.
“Instructor Mu,” Lin Shen called out as he knocked on the door.
Seeing Lin Shen, Instructor Mu was very pleased, gesturing for him to sit and asked with a cheerful smile, “Have you filled out the enrollment form?”
“I have. Instructor Mu, I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday. There are some issues back home, and I’ll need to return in a few days. I won’t be able to stay here long, so maybe I should hold off on joining the training camp,” Lin Shen began to have second thoughts.
“However many days of training you can get is fine. Start learning, and when you head back, I’ll make a tailored training program for you. You can continue practicing at home without it affecting anything,” Instructor Mu took the form and glancing at it, picked up the official seal, breathed on it, and stamped it right away.
“The fee for a term is thirteen thousand, please pay it first,” Instructor Mu said with a twinkle in his eye.
Lin Shen was somewhat speechless, thinking, “With these conditions at the training camp, to charge a tuition fee of thirteen thousand for a single term is no wonder hardly anyone comes.”
Money still had to be paid, otherwise he could not face Lin Miao upon returning home.
In his heart, Lin Shen knew all along that Instructor Mu himself was skilled.
Once the money was taken, Instructor Mu’s expression changed in an instant, his smile vanishing from his face more quickly than a Sichuan opera face-changing act.
“Lin Shen, from now on you are a member of the Asura Training Camp. While at the camp, you must call me Instructor Mu and obey the arrangements during training…”
“I understand, Instructor Mu,” Lin Shen stared blankly at Instructor Mu, thinking, “My goodness, he just takes the money and turns into someone else, how can someone do that, it’s just too fast.”
“Let’s go, I’ll take you to meet your fellow disciples, and you can start training with them in a while.” Instructor Mu finished speaking and took Lin Shen out to the yard, picking up a whistle hanging around his neck and blowing it a few times.
The trainees who were lazily running around came over one by one, listless and without energy.
“Let me introduce you, this is the new trainee Lin Shen. From now on, he’s your junior brother. Take good care of him,” Instructor Mu finished introducing and then introduced the other few trainees.
There were a total of five people. It was pretty easy to remember everyone, and Instructor Mu also said that Goddess Consort hadn’t come to the training camp, so including her, there were now only six of them.
“Alright, you run with them today to warm up. We’ll start formal training in the afternoon.” Instructor Mu then left.
Lin Shen had just thought about greeting the other trainees when he saw them turn around, continuing to run at a slow pace.
Even old ladies would run faster than them at that speed.
Running behind them, Lin Shen felt he could walk faster than this.
But it was fine by him since Lin Shen wasn’t someone who could endure hardship well. He took the slow run as a stroll, a chance to practice stepping on the steps of the Celestial Court.
“Who told you to run?” Instructor Mu came over again shortly, holding something in his hand.
“Wasn’t it you who told me to run?” Lin Shen asked, puzzled, looking at Instructor Mu.
“I told you to run, but not to run like that. Put this on,” Instructor Mu handed a uniform to Lin Shen.
Lin Shen saw that the uniform was loose and unattractive, nothing compared to the uniforms of the Marine Training Camp.
“Thirteen thousand spent, just to wear this thing?” Lin Shen took the uniform and immediately felt his arms drop, nearly falling to the ground.
“Why is this uniform so heavy?” Lin Shen looked at the uniform on the ground in surprise, while his fellow disciples watched on with a look of anticipation.
“How could we train you if it wasn’t heavy? Hurry up and put it on to run. Don’t waste time,” Instructor Mu said.
After putting on the uniform, Lin Shen immediately understood why his fellow disciples ran so awkwardly; with such a heavy item on, running fast would be a miracle.
