Ko Chen takes Tan Lin back to the hotel after dinner and they stand at the door of the presidential suite. Looking inside, he asks lightly without any emotion, “you just live here?” Tan Lin nods, “I was in a hurry to come back and I haven’t prepared anything yet, just make do with this hotel.” “I have several other houses. I’ll ask the Secretary to send the pictures of these houses to you later. If you like any of them, I’ll send it as a gift to you.” His tone is as relaxed as usual, which sounds like he is buying vegetables.
Tan Lin doesn’t refuse and suddenly steps forward and looks up at Ko Chen. The bright amorous eyes are filled with attractive light. She takes a breath lightly and asks ambiguously, “don’t you invite me to live in your home?” Ko Chen looks back as Tan with no expression. After a silent confrontation for a long time, Tan Lin loses the battle first, sighs softly and murmurs, “It’s all right if you don’t agree.”
Tan Lin thought he would agree with her request since she has said like that. But she didn’t expect that Ko Chen seems to have failed to hear her words: “It is late. Have a rest earlier.” Then he turns around and leaves. Tan Lin hurriedly hugs his strong waist, and she even purposely squeezes her two soft breasts on Ko ‘s back, making Ko feel a great difference.
“Won’t you stay tonight?” Her voice sounds low for the reason that she relies on the back, but Ko Chen still hears her words clearly. Looking down at her clasping hands in front of his chest, Ko Chen does not hesitate to break them off and walks forward two steps, widening the distance between him and Tan Lin. Tan Lin still stands with the former outstretched posture, and her face is covered with a hurt expression. Ko Chen totally ignores that, and just repeats the words again: “have a rest earlier.”
With that, he immediately turns, and strides towards the elevator. The corridor is covered with a thick carpet which kills the sound. Tan Lin doesn’t take back her hand until she watches the elevator door close. She stomps heavily, and the expression on her face which looked like a wounded sheep changes immediately into a fierce wolf with sharp eyes. The door is slammed when she enters the room.
Coming out of the hotel, Ko Chen looks up at the moon. The sky is full of stars that remind him of Yu Fei, who used to like watching stars in the yard. Thinking of Yu Fei, he suddenly realizes that he has not seen her for several days. The driver is ordered to go home first. Ko Chen drives to Yu Fei’s home and he specially selects a dense tree to park under for it should not be seen clearly from the height of Yu Fei’s home even if the car stops here.
He stalls the car, and lights a cigarette. He has not smoked for a long time since knowing his illness, but now downstairs where Yu Fei lives, he begins to miss the taste of nicotine. Taking a deep breath, Ko Chen narrows his eyes and spits out a smoke ring. The smell of nicotine goes through the lungs to the brain, which wakes up both his spirit and longing for Yu Fei. Yu Fei should not have slept because the light in the room is still on. Ko Chen checks the time and it’s almost ten o’clock.
There is a voice in his head shouting: go up, see what she is doing now, and tell her how much you miss her. This voice has been reverberating in his mind. Ko Chen’s hand has even been placed on the door and he will get off the car next second. However, the opposing voice rings in his brain at the right time and refutes: no! If you go up and tell her this now, all the previous efforts will be in vain! The fingers are frozen, and the cigarette in his right hand burns more than half. He keeps his left hand on the door handle for a long time, but doesn’t move. Until the cigarette in his right hand burns to his finger, he suddenly feels shocked and quickly withdraws his left hand as if getting an electric shock.
No, he can’t hesitate. The disease will kill him and he must not let Yu Fei know it. He raises his head painfully and fixes eyes on the window, as if by doing so, his sight can penetrate into it and he can see the woman he misses. Yu Fei leans on the sofa, watching TV. It’s late, but she’s not sleepy today. She gets up and makes a cup of steaming milk. She carefully holds it and drinks it like a kitten.
After a few sips, she sees the TV program is replaced by an advertisement which can not arouse her interest. So she gets up with a milk cup and goes to the balcony, taking a deep breath of fresh air of the night, and begins to enjoy the night scene. For several days, the night sky is full of stars of different sizes, which twinkle like talking eyes. Yu Fei leans on the balcony, and occasionally a breeze blows by. In addition, the beautiful scenery makes her very comfortable, and the corners of her mouth rise unconsciously. Ko Chen doesn’t expect Yu Fei comes out and his eyes are glued to her. Although they are more than ten floors apart, he seems to be able to see any slight change on Yu Fei’s face. After all, her appearance has been deeply engraved in his mind.
The greedy eyes sweep over every part of her body. The woman looks up all the time, so he could only see her chin line vaguely from his angle. Even though she is so far away, Ko Chen can feel that she gets thinner again. Ko Chen can’t help but feel sad that Yu Fei must not have had a good meal and rest without him. Yu Fei stares at the starry sky, and suddenly a strange feeling comes over her as if a bunch of eyesight has fixed on her.
She looks down unconsciously, and through the thick leaves she discovers a black car parked downstairs. Why a car stops here? She has never seen that before. Yu Fei feels strange, looks forward and stops at the license plate number. From such a long distance, she can’t see it clearly, but somehow, she thinks the license plate is familiar. Yu Fei begins to get nervous, and a bold idea pops out. Her eyes sweep back and forth on the car downstairs, but much of the car is blocked by leaves, so she could not see it clearly. However, the strange feeling doesn’t disappear. Yu Fei feels inexplicably that someone is looking at her from the car downstairs.
