“Quan Jin!”
“You’re such an evil woman. You really just want Nuannuan dead, huh?!”
A cold, icy male voice pierced through the hall of the five-star hotel, sending shivers down the spine of the attendees of the engagement party.
The man glared at the lady with scorn.
She was not even five foot three and looked slightly chubby from the bloat in her face, her skin sallow and yellowish.
A doctor could have probably told that Quan Jin’s health wasn’t the best, seemingly having been on medication that would disrupt her neurology and development for a long time.
“You knew she had a weak heart, and yet you told her about our engagement today?”
Mo Qingtian stared coldly at the girl in front of him as she remained silent.
“Did you really think that if anything were to happen to Nuannuan, you, as a godchild of the An’s, would replace her and become part of the family? I suggest you have a good look at yourself in the mirror! You are short, ugly, lowly, and there’s just nothing good about you. If your heart hadn’t matched Nuannuan’s, did you think I would have ever agreed to your engagement? And I’ll have you know that this face of yours disgusts me to the core!”
Mo Qingtian puffed as he watched Quan Jin try to hold back her displeasure.
The berated girl happened to be the host of the party.
Quan Jin was the only daughter of the Quan’s, the wealthiest family in Jiang.
A genius in both business and medicine, she was one of the prized scholars of Hua and was regarded as the single greatest hope of entering governmental agencies and securing the country’s position in the world.
However, only seven years before, Quan Jin had suddenly rejected the invitation of the country, and stopped appearing at public events and elite gatherings; her name had been kept secret ever since. While back then she had been known in Jiang as the Princess of the Quan family, she had now become a social-climber in the eyes of these people.
The voice continued playing in her ear. “For everything you have done to Nuannuan, I will get back at you a hundred times worse. Aren’t you trying to become an elite as well? I will ruin your reputation and you shall be imprisoned for the rest of your life! This loathsome engagement is cancelled! You. are. not. fit—”
The emcee who had accompanied Mo Qingtian to the event rushed up onto the stage in shock as soon as their eyes met.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize,” he announced, turning on the mic and looking at Quan Jin, who was bewildered, “I hereby announce that the Mo’s has single-handedly called off the engagement. With regard to Miss Quan Jin and her alleged murder of Miss An Yunnuan, President Mo has already demanded that the police conduct further investigation.”
President Mo had even contacted the police…
Quan Jin was barely eighteen years old. Her future would be ruined!
The attendees stared at her as if she had suddenly grown a third eye, gloating.
A few members sneered.
“Luckily President Mo saw through her pretense.”
“Poor Miss An. She had so kind-heartedly helped a peasant, and not only was she ungrateful, she even tried to steal Miss An’s identity and forced President Mo into this marriage only because she was the only one able to save her!”
“I guess birds of a feather should flock together. A lowlife like her could only dream of entering the Mo family.”
The insults reached Quan Jin’s ear.
Damned peasants…
The girl, who had remained silent all along, lifted her head and glared at Mo Qingtian. Her eyes were no longer overflowing with admiration; instead, they were filled with arrogance, a tinge of disdain, and conceit.
The Quan Jin that had existed ten minutes before had promised to save An Yunnuan with her heart, so that she could marry Mo Qingtian.
However, she was no longer the same Quan Jin she had once been.
The real Quan Jin had just died.
“I don’t give a damn if she dies. I will say this once and for all: I am the only heir of the Quan family, I don’t care for the meager title of Mrs Mo!”
The hall instantly fell into a dead silence.
What did she just say?
Who was the heir of the Quan family?
She had only been ten years old upon leading her family to wealth—the only person to be inducted into the government, a genius and a well-respected princess among the upper class!
How could that lowly, greedy, and materialistic girl be such a person?
Everyone was appalled by Quan Jin’s words.
Nervous laughter broke the silence.
“Wh-what did you say?”
“Don’t think that just because the Quan’s haven’t announced their heir, any other person could be an imposter! Take a look at yourself! So desperate to enter the Mo family that you have gone nuts!”
“How dare you tarnish the name of the Princess of the Quan’s—”
They don’t believe it!
None of the attendees knew who Quan Jin was or what the heir of the Quan’s looked like. They didn’t even know her name!
The only two people who knew all the truth about Quan Jin’s identity remained seated and unbothered, watching the injustice unfold.
Mo Qingtian stared closely at the girl as she stood tall.
Something seemed…. different.
“Did you think I would like you if you claimed to be the heir of the Quan’s?”
Noticing the shift in Quan Jin’s glance, Mo Qingtian looked away with repugnance, “Materialistic social-climber, you disgust me!”
Tsk!
Quan Jin had too much on her plate to waste time explaining herself to that bunch of fools.
She turned to face two middle-aged men seated in the corner, shocking everyone with a seemingly insignificant remark. None of the most impressive big shots could compare to the charisma that Quan Jin exuded.
“Master Su, Master Lin. Has the Quan family ever kicked me out?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Many heads turned to face the two men. They stood up uneasily, and let out a hollow laugh, “You must be joking, Miss Quan. Master Quan treasures Miss Quan Jin very much! Who would have dared kick out the appointed heir of the Quan family?”
