Chapter 9: With Her Identity, No One Would Oppose Her(2)

Just as the vice-captain was going to talk about the most critical information, the senior officer interrupted him. His face remained void of emotions, but his words were of warning, “Secrets are meant for the dead. The more you know, the faster you die. All you have to know is that you can’t afford to offend this person and neither can I, no one in this country can mess with her. If you’re afraid of death, take today’s events to your graves.”
It was the most depressing sentence the vice-captain had heard from the senior officer ever since he had assumed that position. Even as the senior officer spoke, there was a hint of fear and respect in his voice.
What exactly was her identity?
Not even a single person in the country could offend her?

After leaving the prison, Quan Jin was sent back to her home in Jiang as ordered by the senior officer.
On the way, she was greeted with bows from the servants.
Just as she approached the door of the mansion, she heard the voices of her parents: they were arguing. Even the nanny on duty had been chased out.
“Engagement ceremony cancelled by the princess of the Quan’s, the Mo family is subpar!”
Master Quan was enraged. He slammed a printed article on the tabletop, his face crumpled in fury, “When did she agree to get engaged with Mo Qingtian?! Why hasn’t anyone informed me about it?!”
His words hit Master Quan’s wife like a truck. She was shocked silent as she recalled important information. Her perfectly maintained complexion paled.
“Engagement? With the Mo’s?”
“Look at it yourself!” Master Quan scanned the document on the table with his chilling eyes.
Picking up the article, her eyes widened as she looked down at the words that were staring right back at her.
“Business genius, Princess of the Quan’s makes her strong return!”
“Mo Corporation seized!”
Mrs Quan gripped the paper tightly, conflicted. What on earth had just happened? Why was Quan Jin’s identity exposed?
Leaving aside the news of Mo Corporation shutting down, the phrase “Princess of the Quan’s” alone could shake the entire upper class. Everyone would know about the existence of Quan Jin, a secret that they had tried their hardest to keep, even investing a whole lot of effort to decline her spot in the government. Now, all those efforts had gone to waste because of an insignificant engagement ceremony.
“What should we do? Quan Jin’s identity is exposed, they could see what she looks like, what if–”
Master Quan panicked as he witnessed his wife’s hysteria. He reached out, pinching his nose bridge, and explained with a slight headache, “I have ordered for this article to be taken down within ten minutes of its publication. Now, only the upper-class families in Jiang might know about this, I don’t think it has reached the masses yet.”
Quan Jin, who was not standing too far from them, could hear the conversation clearly. There was one thing that she had never been able to understand: seven years before, her name had been made a secret because she was too outstanding, and could have been threatened or assassinated.
Now, however, Quan Jin was no longer the golden child of the country. Why was her family still hiding her identity?
“You should have never let An Yunnuan come this close to Quan Jin. If it hadn’t been for her, this would have never happened.”
Master Quan’s voice echoed from the hall again, “This is absolutely ridiculous! Call Quan Jin and get her back home right now. She shall never step outside of these quarters ever again!”
Quan Jin let out a snicker. Having lived her life until then, no one had ever dared talk to her that way.
“Good morning to both of you, too. Didn’t the people say that I was to be treated like a treasure? Why can’t I even be known to the public?”
