100 Nothing To Lose Anyway
“What idea?” Niu Tongsheng knew that Zhao Chuchu wasn’t very familiar with farm work, but he was still willing to hear her out.
“Planting the seedlings one by one by hand is really tiring. Have you thought about throwing the seedlings to scatter them?” Zhao Chuchu briefly explained what seedling throwing is.
Back then, when she was hoarding supplies, she came across a department store that was closing down. She bought everything they had left, which included a seedling cultivation tray.
“I’ve never heard about people planting seedlings like that. Chuchu, how did you think of that idea?”
“I saw it in a book about how to grow crops, but I didn’t really understand how it works, so I wanted to ask you about it. If it’s plausible, you guys won’t have to bend down all day!”
!!
Niu Tongsheng and Niu An looked at each other, then said, “But how are you going to make the seedling cultivation tray?”
“I met a merchant in the city two days ago and talked to him about it. He said that he could help us get it.”
“Would you like to try it?”
“Yes.”
“Chuchu, I know you do not depend on farming for your income, but no one’s ever tried this method. If we fail, you’ll be wasting your farmland!”
“It’s fine. Someone has to try it first, right? If it works, you guys can have an easier time working the farms in the future! Village Chief, since someone found it useful enough to write down in a book, it must have its merits.”
“Well, if you’ve already decided, let’s try it.”
Niu Tongsheng agreed to try Chuchu’s idea.
He also wanted to see if seedling tossing would work.
But he had a family to feed, so he didn’t dare to try himself.
But Zhao Chuchu was different. She knew how to make money and didn’t need to depend on farming.
“I’ll ask the merchant in two days whether he got the seedling cultivation trays for me.”
“Sure.”
“Village Chief, do you have a lot of dry farmland?”
“About five or six acres.”
“What do you plant there?”
“Soybeans.”
“I got a crop from the merchant. Would you like to try it out with me?”
Based on the original owner’s memories, Zhao Chuchu learned that the soybean yield was really low, and the land use efficiency was very low.
Great millets seemed to be a complimentary crop with soybeans.
Zhao Chuchu wanted to let the village chief try planting great millets.
As for potatoes, she planned to ask them about them after harvest.
“What crop?”
“Great millets, also known as Sorghum.”
“When I worked at a rice shop in the city when I was young, I heard about this crop from the traveling merchants. I think it came from the North.”
“Yup, that’s the one. The traveling merchant told me it is suitable to plant in not-so-fertile farmland.”
“Someone tried it, but it didn’t work. No one tried planting it after that.”
Has someone already tried planting it before?
That’s fine. The seeds from her carry-on space are all modified. They were superior to the existing great millets in yield and adaptability.
“Just try it first. If it doesn’t work, I’ll compensate you guys according to the normal yield of soybeans. If it works, I won’t charge you guys for the seed, but I want 20 percent of your harvest. How’s that?”
Niu Tongsheng and Niu An looked at each other.
After the plague, Zhao Chuchu became a completely different person. She had a lot of interesting ideas.
If anyone else said that to him, Niu Tongsheng would start yelling at him.
But Zhao Chuchu…
“Sure, let’s do this!”
He had nothing to lose anyway.
Besides, look at those who formed good relationships with Zhao Chuchu. Had any of them lost anything?
Only those brainless idiots from the Zhao Clan would try every method to piss off Zhao Chuchu.
Last time, when they built the walls, Zhao Chuchu paid them more handsomely than working outside.
“Village Chief, trust me, and you’ll earn more money!”
“Okay, I’ll trust you.”
Zhao Chuchu smiled uncontrollably.
She didn’t like to have conflicts with other people. If they could get along, she was actually a very friendly person. She wouldn’t mind if they were a little calculative, as long as they didn’t try to scam her.
After checking out the farmland and discussing the details of the farm work, the three of them returned to the village. Upon returning, they ran into Madam Yang.
Madam Yang wanted to get angry at Zhao Chuchu, but she didn’t dare. “Zhao Chuchu, you took my money. When are you going to cure my son’s leg?”
