Chapter 6 The Body that Could Break Swords
The husky and old voice from upstairs stopped the grey-gown administrator.
“Head Wang!”
On the rooftop stood an old man in black wearing a cold face, which made people stressful.
“My greetings!”
All outer disciples outside the hall were a little panicked on seeing the old man, and they all kneeled down to greet him.
This old man was the head of Sect Affairs Administration, and had achieved the ninth level of Martial Practice.
There were ten levels of Martial Practice, three levels a threshold; the highest level was almost the limit of human body. The higher the harder.
In the whole Qingyun Sect, except the chief, few could achieve the ninth level. Even throughout the whole Skywater Kingdom, Head Wang should be among the top kung fu masters.
He was busy with the Sect Affairs Administration, and seldom concerned himself with specific affairs.
“Administrator Yang, I have learned the whole thing. You did nothing wrong. But since he has passed all your tests, you shouldn’t be hard on him. To make amends, you’re responsible to allocate him the clothes and weapon and teach him the entry-level kung fu.”
“Yes, yes, yes, you said right. I will act upon what you told me.
The old man nodded his head, glanced at Lin Yun and then left.
The grey-gown administrator felt much relieved. Fortunately, Head Wang didn’t punish him. It was really his lucky day.
But on thinking that as an administrator, he had to hand out the clothes and pick a weapon for this sword slave, he felt depressed immediately.
“Come with me,” said Yang with an unfriendly attitude. And then he took Lin Lun upstairs.
On seeing Lin Yun going upstairs, all the other disciples were jealous of him.
If it hadn’t been Head Wang, Lin Yun would have had a rough time today.
As for Zhou Ping lying on the ground, he could only suck on it, because no one cared about him now.
The second floor of Sect Affairs Administration was an important place of the sect.
All the martial arts-related scripts and skills they collected were here. Any new outer disciple had a chance to choose a script and a martial skill. And then they can only exchange their outstanding contributions for them.
“Choose the martial script first. You can practice inner power since you’ve achieved the third level. These are all the relevant martial scripts.”
Administrator Yang took Lin Yun to a bookshelf, pointing at it without more unnecessary word.
Lin Yun didn’t regard himself as an outsider. He came up to the bookshelf, and leafed through all the martial scripts as fast as he could.
“Qingyun Script, Wind & Thunder Power, Green Water Script…”
Seeing Lin’s reading speed, Administrator Yang couldn’t help laughing at Lin in his mind. Sword slaves were born to be swords slaves. He read them so fast, god knew whether he got the point of it.
If he knew the rule, he should ask me how to choose.
“Administrator Yang, I will choose this one.”
“Pure Yang Script.”
On receiving the book and seeing the name, Administrator Yang’s face was a little twisted, and he sneered in his heart.
To practice Pure Yang Script, one had to have strong inner power, and it’d take a long time to practice. So most of the practitioners who chose it in the sect gave up at last.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I am.”
Administrator Yang laughed, “Impressive. It’s good and suits you well.”
Through reading his face, Lin Yun knew Yang was a wolf in sheep’s clothing and had bad intentions.
But in the last few minutes, he had glanced over the introductions of all the martial scripts on the shelf.
And he had memorized every word of them.
After comprehensive comparison, he finally chose this one. All ten levels of martial practice needed to strengthen the human body. The inner power by practicing Pure Yang Script would become thick and strong. There was no doubt it was best suited.
Next was to choose a martial technique. Like martial scrips, martial techniques also had basic, medium and advanced levels.
Lin Yun picked a medium one named Flowing Wind Swordplay, which was famous for its lethality and flexibility.
“Don’t blame me for not reminding you. Flowing Wind Swordplay has high requirements for your aptitude. Even most of the inner disciples failed.
On seeing that Lin Yun made another “wrong” choice, Yang thought he should remind Lin; after all, it was Head Wang’s order.
“It’s OK. Thank you for reminding me.”
“Such a blockhead!”
Administrator Yang pulled a long face, murmured to himself, and ignored Lin Yun totally.
In the Weapon Chamber.
Since Lin Yun chose to practice swordplay, of course he had to choose a sword. Administrator Yang picked one casually for him, leaving him no chance to choose.
After pulling out the sword, Lin Yun looked it over, and was quite satisfied with it.
This sword was made of cyan steel, the standard sword for all disciples. Lin Yun saw a lot of them when he was still a sword slave.
Observing its body lines, Lin Yun knew it was one of superb quality.
Crack!
The blade broke suddenly and fell on the ground with a clang.
Now there was only half of it in his hand.
“What’s going on?”
Administrator Yang seized the sword from Lin, and couldn’t get a clue after checking it for some time; then he said angrily, “Change another one. They must have purchased some shoddy ones.”
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Three in a row, every one broke without a reason. Administrator Yang looked Lin Yun up and down, “You sword slave, are you playing tricks on me?”
Lin Yun made his name in the whole Qingyun Sect for his sword- maintenance skills.
Four cyan steel swords broke consecutively without a reason, which aroused Administrator Yang’s suspicion.
Lin Yun was also confused in his heart. He said, “That was beyond my ability. And I wouldn’t do such things. How about…Administrator Yang…I choose one by myself?”
“You wish! Wait here.”
Administrator Yang glared at Lin Yun, and then searched the piles of waste swords in the corner. Suddenly his eyes shined.
He found a rusted old sword shrouded in dust, and handed it to Lin Yun.
Before Lin Yun pulled the sword out of the scabbard, Administrator Yang already pushed him out, “Try it when you go back. Don’t do it here. If you break it again, I will have no one for you.”
After having broken four swords, Lin Feng was also a little embarrassed, so he gave up.
Before he went back, Administrator Yang asked him, “So you’re sure you’d practice the Flowing Wind Swordplay?”
“Yes.”
“Haha, good for you. This swordplay has a high requirement for aptitude, higher than a sword slave like you can imagine. If you don’t change now, I will never change it for you even if you come to beg me in the future.”
“Farewell.”
For Lin Yun persistence, Administrator Yang who already held the grudge could only sneer in his heart, “Someday you will come to beg me.”
Two hours later, Lin Yun put on the clothes of the sect before the cabin. With a white gown inside, and a cyan one outside, he looked much more handsome.
On the ground before the cabin, the sound of the sword was howling in the air. Lin Yun was practicing with his sword. His moves were as smooth as the flowing water.
If Administrator Yang had been here, he would have been stunned for what he saw.
A common person couldn’t even get familiar with the Flowing Wind Swordplay in half a month. But for Lin Yun, it was like a piece of cake.
“It’s not so difficult as I imagined.”
Two hours later, Lin Yun already got the hang of it, and comprehended all the basic moves.
Except the basic sword moves, there were three deadly moves, namely Swords Rotating to Make Winds, Flowing Shadow of Reflective Light, and Wind Blowing without a Trace.
Although his sword skills hadn’t reached Slight Achievement now, it wouldn’t take him long.
Staring at the blade, Lin Yun was pondering. Administrator Yang gave this old sword to him.
The sword was two-finger wide, and 1.1-meter long, with no gloss on the edge. The blade was dark cyan. It looked old, with no gloss at all.
Lin Yun knocked on it, but the heavy blade didn’t make any ringing metal sound.
So Lin Yun guessed it should be made of metal wood.
Except metal, animal bones, rocks and metal wood all could be made into swords, which were really rare.
Metal wood, which was not an official name, was kind of sharp wood as hard as metal.
When Elder Hong taught him Sword-maintenance Skill, he gave him a Flower Sword Collection, which recorded many famous swords.
Among them were some rare ones, which were made of natural woods.
There were a lot of woods that could be made into swords. And the most famous one was the Ancient Jian Wood.
For the sword in his hand, he couldn’t tell its origin.
But seen from its dark color, no aura, it should be a waste one whatever its origin.
Wood Sword relied on its natural aura. Without special maintenance for a long time, it’d lose its gloss and aura, no better than an ordinary one.
But Lin Yun was already very happy. At least it didn’t break.
With good maintenance, it would be good enough for him.
After putting the sword back in its scabbard, Lin Yun took out the Pure Yang Script. He said with a little excitement, “It’s time to practice inner power.”
Without inner power, there’d be no future. The one who passed the third level of Martial Practice could be called a real kung fu practitioner.
Crossing his legs and closing his eyes, after feeling the inner power, Lin Yun tried to move his inner power carefully with Pure Yang Script.
At first, he was not quite familiar with it.
The inner power ran here and there in his body, really hard to control.
When he was proficient at it, it was already dark outside.
Looking at the stars, Lin Yun was quite excited, because he had hit the top level and could control it as he wanted.
With calming down, Pure Yang Script operating, Lin Yun fell in some kind of mysterious state.
As the inner power flowed in his body, he could see his viscera clearly. How wonderful!
He could see the inner part of his body!
After achieving the third level, one could see his own viscera, and become a real kung fu practitioner.
Lin Yun didn’t notice it because he was still immersed in practicing.
In the mysterious space upon his pubic region, an old broken sword was hanging there, the handle of which was clung around by nine chains spreading in the darkness.
When he used the Pure Yang Script, some kind of miraculous light fell on the broken sword, stirring up some ripples.
With the miraculous light falling down, the tail ends of the chains were shaking in the dark, scary and mysterious.
